Sake cafe is a local fave! The hibachi is pretty good but lacking some elements of entertainment. The last time I was there, the service was not too great. Just moved to the area and was looking for a great sushi place... this was my first stop based on reviews and word of mouth and it did not disappoint. Service and server was awesome. Food was on point and the sushi was melt in your mouth delicious. Back at our sushi place we moved from they had a thing called "take a chance" and it was a stuffed jalapeno with spicy tuna. Sake cafe has an equivalent, different but equally as good with their jalapeno appetizer. All in all a fantastic place and now a very high bar is set for any other sushi places we try in the area. We've eaten at Saki Café before and had a decent experience, which is why we came back. This time, unfortunately, it missed the mark. We opted for a regular table instead of hibachi because there was only one chef available. While I understand the limitation, the food quality should still be consistent regardless of where it's cooked. My shrimp was cold, the steak was cold, and the rice was only lukewarm. The miso soup was also not hot--barely warm when it arrived. The yum yum sauce came out an unusual color, which made us question how long it may have been sitting out. That was disappointing, especially since it's typically one of the highlights of the meal. My son was hungry and ate most of his food anyway, but that doesn't change the fact that hot food should be served hot--especially when you're paying for a sit-down dining experience. Customer service and food quality matter. Even if the meal is cooked in the back instead of on the grill, it should still arrive fresh and properly heated. If you go here, I'd recommend doing the hibachi, as others may have had better experiences that way. Unfortunately, ours this time was not a good one, and management needs to do better. When we first moved to the area in 2018, I was impressed. 8 years later, not sure if this place has changed hands, but it has gone down hill since. The place is disgustingly dirty, bathrooms were filthy too. Sure hope their kitchen is not kept the same way. Had a taste for hibachi, so Sake Cafe was the spot of choice. We got there around 1/1:30, so just shy of happy hour, which starts at 2. Either way, they offer all you can eat 11a-9p, which includes apps and sushi. We opted for hibachi, ordering the shrimp and chicken, and were quite satisfied with the portion size and the taste. The service was up to par and they have a pretty casual environment, so it's good for families and groups. I'll have to swing back through and see how the dinner vibe is, but no complaints overall! read more

We were a big party and they tried to fit us in two hibachi tables. We didn't fit and 2 people at our party ended up leaving. We were a party of all men who were not petit, but they tried to fit us with no elbow room. Plus with our big party, we deserved two hibachi chefs, and two servers. They provided one chef. One show while the other table had no show of their own. One server who could not handle the demands of the party. We started at 7:30pm and the service ended at 10:30pm. They closed at 9pm. For this they lost 2 stars. From 4 down to 2 stars. The new locations is nicer than old location. They do have 2 sections of hibachi, and each section had two grills. In my opinion each grill should seat 8 people (16 total for each section). They tried fit 22 people at section that can only seat 16. 2 of the 22 ended up leaving. 1 person was sitting at a side with no table. He was literally holding his plate with one hand and a fork with his other hand. So if you want to plan a dinner party sitting at the hibachi station, go there and plan it with the owners to make sure your party is going to fit. Do not make arrangement over the phone. Whoever set up our party did not know what they are doing. The lion fish roll was good. The roll was enormous. If u are ever interested in trying lion fish, come here and try it. It is a nice piece of fish. I encourage everyone to acquire the taste for it. It's a nice white flaky fish. You will be doing our environment a favor by eating this invasive species. read more

Me and my boyfriend went after church this Easter and it was horrible. The food was amazing, but the service was absolutely terrible. She didn't check on us or refill our drinks until at least 45 minutes into our visit. She circled past our table many times without communicating. No updates nor had the common decency to bring our check instead put it on a different waitress. I've been eating at the Sake Cafe regularly for 11 years, even when they were still in their old building. But this building is wonderful. The remodeled church has a beautiful ambience, and the tall windows looking out at the longleaf pines provide such a relaxing place. All of the sushi, hibachi, and salads I highly recommend. We were quite shocked how this place messed up a simple Hamachi Kama. (yellow tail collar) It was over cooked & in a horrible sticky foul sauce. The vegetable were way over cooked. It didn't look good or smell good. We were so shocked we paid & got up and left to go have dinner somewhere else. Also, I am aware this restaurant used to be a Church. The skylights are very nice. However, the dining room is so large it's very loud & uncomfortable. The bar is at the entrance & the sushi bar at the back wall. Very odd layout. A simple divider, Room divider, lots of LARGE tropical plants in the middle of the room with tables on both sides to divide the room would make this place ambiance killer. We are really disappointed with our first visit. I'm willing to give them another shot but I hope they can fix the issue with the ambiance. I come from Alabama to get Sake Cafe because their sushi is some of my favorite around. The happy hour from 2-5 daily (and the lunch specials 11-3) are some of the best around. They also have all you can eat sushi, but I love my leftovers. The menu is huge, but the servers give enough time to peruse and make your choices. I also love the feel of the restaurant, huge vaulted windows that allow for natural light. The last time I went was a few days after my birthday and I was so happy with everything I got. The happy hour sushi combo was awesome, I love their cucumber salad (kind of a spicy kimchi sauce) and their spicy salmon and tuna really has good spice levels. I love that you can add on nigiri pieces for 2.50 a piece. Such a good deal, and all the nigiri I had was very good quality. We will be back many times over. (We struck out at several other all over northern FL) We were blown away! We sat at the counter and watched the magic! Freshness 5 stars, Service 5 stars, Chef skills 5 Stars and Taste 5 stars. This place is great. I had lived in Japan for four years and the food is spot on. I had the Chicken Udon lunch meal and it was superb. The staff are knowledgeable of their menu and are polite. The staff will get you what you need without hesitation. The prices of the meals they offer are tasty and cost effective, you get a lot on what you pay. Sake cafe has an awesome bartending staff and drink selection too, you can even buy authentic sake and bring it home with you. I highly recommend Sake Cafe for some great tasting Japanese cuisine. I went in tonight with my six-year-old just the two of us a couple came in before us asked for a seat for two they told them to stand over and wait. I pointed out they were tables open. The outdoor ambiance was nice but the smokers by the entrance filled the dining area with smoke everyone the door opened. The food: no taste. There is a clear expectation that patrons will cover the food in yumyum sauce. The meat was tough and overcooked. The service: our hostess seeing that we were not being served started our service. It was 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. I witnessed lots of servers moving around unhappy and not invested in the patrons' satisfaction. All this is easily overlooked if the food is good. But the food was not good. And the prices reflect well prepared meals which is reasonable if it is a well prepared meal. I'll say again. These were not well prepared meals.
