Meh. Went there today at my daughter's request. The building looked abandoned from the outside. Inside is nice enough. It was pretty dead when we arrived around 5 pm on a Thursday. Not a big deal. Service was prompt and our server was very nice. Daughter got a spicy tuna roll and I got the Baby Tiger roll. Their tuna was all ground up. No solid pieces. Taste was ok. We've actually been returning customers since 2023 almost monthly until January of this year. My husband got so sick on our last visit I doubt we will ever be back. He ended up in the hospital with a very severe bout of accute colitis caused by food poisoning or contaimination. Based on timing of a fast he was on there was nothing else in his system except what we ate there. I visited this restaurant for an all-you-can-eat lunch for the first time. Because it was a public holiday, the place was very crowded and we waited about 40 minutes to be seated. After being shown to our table and given an explanation, we decided to go with the lunch all-you-can-eat option. The sushi was decent for an all-you-can-eat menu. However, the tempura was a bit disappointing. The "tempura" chicken and shrimp were actually breaded fried chicken and shrimp, more like fried chicken and shrimp fries than traditional tempura. When I asked the server about it, they said this is how tempura is served at this restaurant. The chicken was very tough and hard to eat. On the positive side, the eggplant tempura was very tasty and definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, for $20, I'd say it was acceptable, though not outstanding. read more

I really like the AYCE at Sushi Masa! My husband and I come here whenever we are in the mood for some sushi. The service is not bad. Sometime it gets busy so the orders get backed up, which is understandable. I'm okay with not getting one or two orders as long as they bring us our other orders. The server even check up on us if we got our orders or not and that is amazing because it can get really busy! I think the restaurant is nice and clean. Perfect for date night or dinner with friends who also love AYCE. I even brought my friend and her boyfriend when they came to stay with us for a few days. I am definitely going to keep coming back. Have eaten here numerous times before but we had AYCE Sunday February 2nd and most of our group got severe food poisoning! 4 out of 6 were throwing up and diarrhea all day and night. Tried the place the first time and was sitting near the kitchen and overheard swearing. The manager was there at the register and out came the kitchen staff drunk or loaded! I know I worked the streets of Vegas and this employee was slurring his words saying over and over "I'm sorry for my profanity, I'm sorry for your scrutiny!" Over and over! The Mgr left and the idiot was still standing there and started asking me in his slurred speech "Will you accept my apology" over and over! I did not engage at all but motioned him back into the kitchen with a dismissive wave only to hear him back in the kitchen yell "F**k that Mother F**ker!" I went to the manager who said he'd have the GM call me. I wrote down my number, asked him to get my waitress and although I didn't eat my meal I tipped her because it wasn't her fault. Fast forward 4 hours I have a message from the young female GM offering me 50% off on my next dine in. That is unacceptable as well, I drove there, was insulted, left without eating my meal, tipped my waitress even though I didn't eat and I get offered 50%? It was pretty pathetic! I got the sushi boat for 2 which on the menu states, a Crunchy roll a Rainbow roll and 16 pieces of sushi at chefs choice. I'm thinking ok the two cheapest rolls on the menu listed so surely the chefs choice is going to be the wow factor. WRONG. The chefs choice was nigirizushi, simply the same fish already on the rainbow roll with a little rice on the bottom. Maybe reword the menu to not be so deceptive, while I understand that nigrizushi is indeed a type of sushi, I was expecting a few pieces of different rolls on the menu, you know something with impact. The atmosphere here is great! The food is fantastic for the pricing. If you're a fan of sashimi (raw fish cuts w/o rice) then this place is for you! Took my son here along with family for his 12th birthday he loves sushi and here you are able to get all you can eat sushi the variety of things to pick from is not to overwhelming and the food is really good and very fresh. However, when my lunch chicken hibachi came out, I noticed a clump of hair in the veggies. I work in the service industry and understand that a hair in food happens every now and then. Not a big deal. But a clump of hair?? Really not sure how that could have possibly happened. I let my server know and he was very apologetic and offered to get it remade for me. No thanks, I had absolutely no appetite after. He left the plate on my table (while looking for a manager I assume) and came back a few minutes later with my bill, which had my edamame and soda on it, with a discount. On my first visit to Pensacola, Florida, I used the Yelp app to locate a nearby sushi restaurant. Sushi Masa came up as one of the nearby places and after reading some of the reviews, it looked like a fun place to try especially since they had and all you can eat lunch and dinner special. For only $17.95, we could choose from over dozens of appetizers, nigiri sushi, rolls, hand rolls, tempura, stir fry, and desserts. Upon arrival, we saw the parking lot area was full around the restaurant which meant they was busy, always a good sign! We walked in and told it would be a 30-minute wait for a table but I inquired about sitting at the bar and was told it was first-come first-serve seating. Fortunately after a couple of minutes there were seats available at the bar. Britain, the bartender, provided fast and friendly service. She kept checking on our drinks which we only had the included soft drinks, a diet dr. Pepper and a Diet Coke and checking on our food order. I really thought we had excellent service while sitting at the bar. Service was fast and the food selections were delivered promptly. As you can see from my many pictures, we tried four different kinds of rolls, a few different hand rolls, other appetizers like the salmon skin salad and snow crab salad, and even the green tea ice cream. The one thing I would avoid is the tempura oh, it was more like an ebi fry, a heavier thicker better not so light and fluffy like tempura. All of the servers will wearing masks and pretty good about it however, there seems to be no social distancing in the restaurant meaning it looks like the restaurant was at 100% capacity. Even worse, there were about six customers sitting in the entry waiting area sitting with no mask but maybe this is the normal for restaurants. Overall, a good dining experience. read more

We go to the Orange Beach, AL/Pensacola, FL area a few times a year. I recently saw posts on a Pensacola Facebook page with mouthwatering pictures of sashimi at Sushi Masa. I love all things sashimi, so I told my husband that we had to try it. I ordered sashimi, and he ordered a ramen dish and a sushi roll. When my sashimi came out, it didn't look like any of the pictures I saw on Facebook...as a matter of fact, I didn't see any dishes like that on other tables. But, I really like sashimi so I don't really need "fancy." The sashimi was the same as most places. My husband had to inquire about the sushi roll because they never brought it...he was almost finished with his ramen soup and the roll had not bee brought out. Our waitress told us the kitchen lost the order. I find that hard to believe as they had the rest of our order, which would have been on one ticket. But, the roll arrived, and he ate it. I forget which roll he got, but he gets it a lot when we are out. He said instead of pieces of tuna, the tuna in the roll was mashed/ground up and wasn't what he was used to. The restaurant gets a lot of people as it was packed...we were there on Halloween night. A few people were dressed up in costumes as was the staff. Visiting from California, sushi masa was the best place SUSHI AYCE place I have had in a long time. As a matter of fact it was so good that I came back after the first day! My bf showed me this place when I was visiting and my expectations were not that high, but i could tell from the fact that this place was busy that it would be good. I love how you order whenever you want and as much as you want so you don't over order as opposed to filling out a paper sheet with rounds at other places. The salmon sashimi, white tuna sashimi, and yellowtail was definitely my favorite fish. Merrin was our server on the first night and even though she was really busy she still came thru! Although this definitely wasn't a perfect experience, the price and value definitely makes up for the shortcomings, 31$ for dinner with a soft drink OR Sake/domestic beer is crazy to me.
