We finally tried Koi Sushi this week, and wow--what a fantastic spot! This newer place on 9 Mile Road is quickly becoming our go-to for Japanese food. The atmosphere is modern and cozy, with beautiful presentation that makes everything feel special right from the start. We kicked things off with some appetizers--the hamachi kama was incredible: super fatty, savory, and grilled perfectly with that crispy skin. We also loved the baked salmon appetizer (our server recommended it), stuffed and flavorful--such a great way to start. For the main event, we went all-in on sushi: the rainbow roll was stunning with its vibrant layers and fresh fish on top, the shrimp tempura roll had that perfect crunch, and we added a couple of special rolls that were creative and delicious. The fish tasted incredibly clean and fresh--salmon and hamachi were standouts. Everything was beautifully plated, almost too pretty to eat! We finished with a couple of desserts (the mochi ice cream hits different here--chewy, creamy, and not overly sweet). Portions were generous, and the quality was top-notch. Service was outstanding--our server was friendly, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu. They even pointed out happy hour deals, which made the whole experience feel welcoming and fun. Prices are reasonable for the quality, especially with that amazing freshness. If you're craving high-quality sushi with great presentation and friendly vibes in Pensacola, Koi Sushi is a must! We visited Koi Sushi to support a local restaurant and had a wonderful experience. It's conveniently located in a plaza with plenty of parking, which is always a plus. We went on a Friday night and the place was full, yet the service remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The décor is lively and charming, creating a fun but still cozy atmosphere. I ordered hot sake while my husband enjoyed a beer, and we loved that they also offer boba, Thai tea, green tea, soft drinks, and more great variety for everyone. We started with the tempura mix. It was tasty, though I personally would have loved a dipping sauce instead of soy sauce. Still enjoyable! For our main dishes, we ordered sushi and chicken fried rice. The sushi, especially the Jalapeño Popper and the Cowboy roll was delicious and well made. But the real star of the night was the chicken fried rice. WOW. A simple dish done perfectly: amazing flavor, great crunch, fresh veggies, generous chicken, and a satisfying portion. Absolutely outstanding. I will definitely be coming back, and I'm already planning to order that fried rice again. Went home for the holidays and my best friend wanted to take me here. She raved about the sushi and wanted me to try it! It's such a cute place and the decor was simple and bright. The place was super clean too! It's on the smaller side but was cozy. The service was okay, wasn't the best we've had but it was decent. It took forever to get our check towards the end. We felt a little neglected at the end, but for the most part, it was fine. We ordered the cream cheese crab wontons, ramen, sushi, and a side of yakisoba. The cream cheese crab wonton was a 6.5/10 for me. It wasn't in the traditional shape and was more so of a small hot pocket. The fry on it was meh and the flavors were kinda dull for me. I was missing the crunch, creaminess, and golden color. It was packed full of cream cheese and crab meat and came with some chili dipping sauce. I probably wouldn't get it again. Yakisoba was a 9/10 for me! I ordered plain yakisoba and it came out fresh, hot, flavorful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly! They were buttery and chewy in the best way possible. Also for $4, they give you a huge plate of it! I've been on a noodle kick and these hit the spot with some chili oil! Their chili oil was a little spicy but went so well with the noodles. Lots of umami flavors in the noodles. Fire scallop roll was also a hit! 8.5/10! The seared scallops on top were so fresh and buttery and they literally melted in my mouth. One of the best rolls I've tasted in a while and the rice to filling ratio was on point! It had shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, snow crab meat, topped with tempura flakes, crunchy onions, masago, and seared scallops with spicy mayo and eel sauce on top. I added cream cheese too and it was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The roll was excellent! I would get it again! I also had tamago (sweet egg) and inari (tofu pouch) nigiri and they both were fresh and delicious as well! My best friends said their sushi and ramen were pretty good. Overall, I would come back again as the sushi was fresh, reasonably priced, and stuffed with filling. Excited to try other things on the menu! read more

Price at $16- you'll get yourself a good portion of black garlic ramen. The broth is milky and you can taste thw black garlic that make the dish savory. Add a half of tablespoon of chili if you want it a bit spicy to add more flavor to it. Very delish, filling, and satisfying that will warm your soul!! The place is neat and inviting. Simple not overly decorated. The servers are nice and friendly, and they pay attention your needs. I didn't order any drinks but their thai tea is priced at $3.50!! What a steal!! They have variety of ramen also that fits your taste from tonkatsu down tu curry flavor ramen. If your craving for one, I recommend this place!!!! read more

My fiancé got the deep fried California roll and I got the spicy tantan ramen. Both were delicious. Not to mention, this place is incredibly affordable for the amount of food you get. Love the new Koi Sushi! Sushi Koi has a sushi bar that is "sushi bar" height! We love to sit at the sushi bar. The space is so gorgeous! We love the lighting. It's a very small space but the atmosphere is very inviting, the bathrooms are very neat & tidy & the service is super friendly. We have had some very lovely conversations with the staff. They are super wonderful people & very professional! We have asked them to turn the music up every time we are there just a bit so we can have a private conversation. It's always way too quiet. I think they must forget to turn the music on. The sushi we have had so far is very good. We love the spider roll! Theirs is very different with lots of different flavors & sauces on top than everyone else's, it was just sublime. Def our fave spider roll in Pirate'cola. The katsu with curry sauce was so delicious but it apparently has way too much MSG in it for us. We both had swelled feet after we ate it. We are just working our way thru the menu now. We tried the newly opened Koi Sushi! It's a cute little sushi/Japanese cuisine restaurant that took over a poké shop. I've never got the chance to visit the poké shop, so I'm not sure how much of the interior changed. We dined on a Friday, and they had a reservation for 18 guests! They took our number to call us in 10-15 minutes because there were no seatings available at the time for our party of 5. Our family were amazed at how fast and efficient they were at preparing for our party and the 18 guest's party in such a small space. The service provided was amazing and very attentive. Everyone's working extra hard by running around and making sure customers' needs were fulfilled. They have a very wide range of options. Sometimes, that can turn people off, but we were excited to order and try the many options available to us. We ordered crab rangoon, edamame, Tonkatsu ramen, shrimp tempura bento box, a poké bowl, tamago sashimi, and a rainbow roll. Which all exceeded our expectations. Crab rangoons were shaped like pillows, and the filling was delicious. The sushi from the bento box was just simple California rolls, but the sushi rice was fresh and much better quality than many of the sushi restaurants we've been to. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her California roll as a whole piece for the first time, as she used to deconstruct them and only eat the krabmeat. A plus for me, since hubby and I love sushi and can't wait for her to have raw sushi with us in the future. We love their location as we live in Cantonment, and it's very close by. The parking lot is pretty busy being in the same plaza as Harbor Freight, but there are plenty of spaces available to park. We can't wait to dine again. This is by far our favorite spot, the sushi is delicious and the presentation is great. We have also had the ramen and it was amazing as well. Asked if we could do all shrimp tempura rolls for the lunch special and when they told us it would be a $4 up charge, we told them never mind. I had the food previously before it was ok but I went back to have a dine in experience I was met with a 20 minute wait before ME having to grab some one to take my order after 2 couples walked in about 10 minutes after me being date down and immediately getting orders taken drinks and everything. I find it highly disappointing that I had to even get up to get assistance in the establishment it's as if I wrong the person manning the front. The person who took my order was very nice and apologized for me having to have a rocky start to my experience in the establishment. My go to for sushi in Pensacola has always been Saki Cafe or Dharma Blue until we found Koi Sushi! Koi Sushi is not only creative and detailed with the sushi dishes but also the quality of fish they use is top shelf! The food here is very authentic. As well as very delicious. Some dishes are pricy, but the ingredients like the fish are hard to come by in the states. The sushi, nigiri, and sashimi are all very well decorated on the plate when you get it, which just makes the meal more enjoyable in a sense. The restaurant is not designed for large parties. The have variety of sushi. I'm a big sashimi fan so we did the koi boat. My wife had the curry katsu. Everything tasted great. My only dislike was that their salmon is farm raised and not wild caught. I can taste the difference in texture. Service was good. However I think they were too busy and forgot my friend's soup and salad that came with their bento boxes. I didn't realize until we left.
