This is one of the hidden gems in the city. However, it is quite popular among Japanese, because I tried to book this place for a couple of time and it was all full! Third time was the charm and I finally got in and I was smart enough to invite my Japanese friend to come along.
The restaurant was not that big and looked very plain. Seems that most of the tables are downstairs and majority of the diners are Japanese native. Like most Asian restaurants, they have two sets of menus: one for the foreigners, and the other for their country people who know the good stuff. Luckily with my friend, we got to order from the insider menu. And of course, it is all in Japanese and my friend said the dishes are traditional ones. So she ordered a variety of dishes for us, many of which you wouldn't normally see outside of Japan. I don't quite remember all the dishes, but everything was tasty. What we loved the most was, of course, the sashimi platter. It was beautifully presented and all the seafood on it was super fresh. There is, however, a catch: it was pricy. The bill for the 3 of us ran up to over 200 pounds.
I would highly recommend this place, if you are in the mood for some fresh and authentic Japanese food. read more
