Cozy brewery that has a wonderful selection. Surprisingly, I felt their flagshipbeer was my least favorite. Keeper was the most drinkable and Oblith was the best IPA. I loved the service can't wait to return and sit on their deck with the dog. They do not serve food!

The beer was good and it was in a great location. Service was fine, and the prices were within reason. The outdoor deck had a great view and they had live music. I do wish they had a few more options for those who don't love IPA's.

    Flight and a pint!

Cozy refuse on a cold and rainy December night! Friendly service and a good selection of beer, cider and other options. Looks like a lovely patio for warmer weather!!

    Good beer lol

This place is great! My first Canadian brewery and it did not disappoint. The beer was great. I didn't have one bad beer. The staff was really cool and super friendly to talk to. The views were terrific on the back patio. I can't wait to go back. Also, enjoy the stickers from my local breweries guys!

I stopped by hungry on my way through Machias, Maine and decided to try Mason's…read more There is plenty of parking and the restaurant entrance has a ramp. I started off with the only draft lager, the Midnight Train. It was dark and had a coffee taste which is not my thing. I had asked the waitress if she had ever tried it and she had not, but did offer a taste first which I declined. There is a huge wrap around bar or wooden tables to dine in. Casual ambience. Restrooms were very clean. I had the fish and chips and that came out quickly. The house made tarter was very good, along with the coleslaw. I ordered a side of cowboy beans and they were flavorful and hearty. Really delicious. However, it is a huge portion for a side (maybe the size should be specified or marked as a sharable) and there was no price listed on the menu. The price was $10, pretty steep for a side in my opinion (which I learned only after getting the check). I decided to take the beans home with a hot dog to go, and was told the dog comes with a side as well; apparently you cannot just get a dog alone! So that was $8 for a dog and a sad portion of kraut that was just ok. The bill came to $45.90 and I gave the waitress $60 and she asked, "do you want your change?" Seems she expected a huge tip based on minimal service. I politely said "yes, please." My change was $14.10. She brought back $14 but not the 10 cents. Seems like a dumb thing to complain about, but this is not right. Not giving people the correct change is never ok and it works in the restaurants favor and screws the customer and based on that fact alone, I would not recommend and don't plan to return.

I stumbled into this place a few days ago looking for something they didn't have... don't even…read morerecall what it was now... but found happiness! Cheeses and beer are what I left with, but I'm passing back thru Machias tomorrow and plan to stock up on more cheese and not sure what else. Worth just stopping in if you're in the area. A beautiful place to browse and dream. So glad it's there!

When I came home to visit this summer, I was at first disappointed to learn that the Sow's Ear was…read moreno longer around. But then upon learning that it was replaced with wine (and not Sutter Home/Franzia/Night Train), my disappointment evaporated. Not what you'd expect to see in Machias (especially not for very long), where Natty Light and The Beast reign as the preferred beverages....but the owners aren't doing it to turn a profit, they're doing it for the love of it. We got to chat with them for a little bit and that was nice to learn. They have tons of wonderful wines from around the world here (even some from Virginia....wtf?) and my husband and I were able to satisfy our wine snobbery even in the outer reaches of downeast Maine during our stay thanks to these guys. They have a lovely Spanish grenache as well as a crisp Pouilly-Fuisse that we pretty much lived off of. In addition, they have lots of excellent specialty cheeses to offer, and will give you samples to try while you shop. Prices are basically what we're used to for California (the previous reviewer mentioned that they're probably a little steep for Machias and I'd have to agree) but definitely worth it when the next best shit in town is the Bogle available at Hannaford.
