I mostly go in here before or after work, when this is the only shop nearest the biggest Hospital in Europe they must have a good lot of custom from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, you would think they could be more organised at peak times. This morning I was in at 08.15 there was a queue of three people in front of me and by the time I was served about ten folks behind me there was a Chap at the checkout querying a price and it took two of them to eventually sort it out. I asked the Manager if he could open another till and he told me he would when the Girl had counted her float, surely this should be done before the shop opens poor organisation. I am still happy with the goods they supply but it can be a chore to shop there.

This particular Lidl is a fair size & when I visited after work one day it was surprisingly quiet, which made a nice change to my regular visit to Morrisons post-work where I have to strap on my armour & metal capped shoes to prepare myself for the inevitable mobs zig-zagging the aisles. Honestly, you would think some people have never been in a supermarket with OTHER PEOPLE before the way they act. Sheesh. Pure trolly rage man. Nae trolly rage here I am happy to report - nice wide aisles and, as I said, it seemed quite quiet to me. Yas. I was specifically in for fruit & veg and was happy to see a good selection of both on offer although not for as cheap I as remember Lidl being when I used to shop regularly in the store a few years ago. Still I guess all supermarkets have put their prices up somewhat in recent years. Bah. I spotted the odd deal - it was luckily for me cheap aubergines so I was happy being a lover of those purple fleshy beasts. I was saddened there were not more offers on but maybe since I was a regular Lidl shopper they have stopped doing so many? As you walk in this store they have to the right a huge shelf of all their 'fresh' bakery products, I say 'fresh' as I presume they are fresh at 8am but not so at 5:30pm...still quite a few items on sale & the crossiants/pastries all looked lovely but their faux Krispy Kreme style donuts looked a bit worse for wear, one even delightfully had a bite already taken out of it, mmm...try before you buy, eh? S'nice. The meat section here was a lot more well stocked compared to other Lidl's I have frequented, although I noticed a distinct lack (not rack) of lamb. Still plenty of great meat & fish bargains - I spotted two salmon steaks for a mere £2.69, pretty good. All in all this Lidl was really well stocked and although maybe not as big as some of their other Glasgow stores it had a good variety of produce too. Only tiny, minute grumble I had was when at the till they had none of their Bag-for-life type bags for sale; it was only cheap carrier or more expense insulated & super strong bags available. I should have brought my own (especially considering I seem to buy a new one nearly every other time I visit a supermarket & have a plasticky mountain of them in my flat) so my fault really. One thing I must point out about here is when you have finished packing your bags on their 'packing bench' and the rear of the shop don't do what I did and think you are being ever so helpful and take your basket with you to put back in what I presumed would be a stack of them near the entrance/exit of the shop as they are, as I rather embarrassedly found out, alarmed! So if you try to take them out the first set of exit doors a delightful alarm sounds. So, as I was told, just leave them on/near the packing bench. Okay. I know now....*cringe*

It's pretty large for a Lidl and has all the stuff you would expect including the central 'grab-a-bargain' bins of random stuff and shelves of strangely-titled products that look like familiar British brands but carry different names... hmmm. Isn't there some trading law about that sort of thing? The bakery section had some nice stickies, and there is a fairly extensive frozen section that's worth having a look at for something a little different. We tend not to buy the fresh produce at Lidl, having once bought a bag of mandarins that all turned completely green and rancid practically as soon as we got home, since then we've always been slightly suspicious about just how long things have been on the shelves. I'm trying not to see it as the competition for Morrisons just across the road that it inevitably is; there are some things that Morrisons do better, and some things that Lidl do better, so in theory they should be complementary. The downside of this of course, is that it means a two-supermarket trip every week.

Clean and well stocked…read more They have 2 self checkout tills For speed however the till area is always a little crammed so when there is a queue which is very often you don't get to browse the stock that's on the shelving opposite the tills I suppose this is a good thing as it's mostly sweets and crisps ...... But I want sweets and crisps god dam it, I want them all!!!! A little reconfiguring of the store give more room around tills please I would say that the it's due to this it lost a star and slow service at the till area, even using the self checkout .... You have to wait on the same poor server that doing all the rest of the customers to come over and hit the screen to say that bottle of paracetamol you need instead of chocolate is ok to buy

I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

A supermarket review is not something that I would normally consider writing, as I usually see…read moreshopping as a chore to be endured and not enjoyed. However, the revamped Morrisons Partick store has transformed the usual boring shopping experience into a game of 'guess what this is used for' in their fruit and vegetable section. I have never heard of some of the exotic items they now have in stock, and have even less of an idea what to do with them; but it certainly makes for an interesting shopping experience! We've shopped here for many years, way before Waitrose, M&S and Tescos moved into Byres Road, or Sainsburys into Crow Road. Morrisons has always been the best value of anywhere around, even if their selection of goods in the old store was clearly geared to the - how shall I put it - somewhat unimaginative dietary requirements of the local populace? In part this was due to lack of space, but for years after it originally opened it was difficult to find much food suitable for vegetarians and those on restricted diets. For a while it was overshadowed by the flashy new Waitrose at the top of Byres Road, and there has been the ever-present threat of a mega-Tescos opening right across the road from Morrisons on the site of the old Partick Central Station. Now however - following their purchase of the adjacent video store and haberdashery outlet, they now own the entire block and have doubled in size. The new-look store feels much roomier than it used to be, and the range of exotic international foods is hugely impressive, particularly in the vast fruit and veg section at the entrance. Presumably this reflects the increasingly ethnic population of Partick and environs, or possibly the location at Partick's transport hub brings in a lot of customers from farther afield by bus, subway or train. It is certainly the easiest supermarket in the area to get to by public transport. There is a new cafe as well; and although I haven't sampled that yet, it is conveniently placed for those waiting on a train or bus connection, or waiting for their taxi arriving to collect them with their shopping - a relatively common sight at this Morrisons. I'm fascinated by the green vegetable counter with its system of pipes wafting cold fog over the produce. I think this is the first time I've seen such a system in Scotland, although they are common in the States. You can't help but wonder how long they will continue to sell the more exotic fresh produce though, especially such rare delicacies as samphire at 16 quid per 100g. Let's make the most of it and enjoy it while it lasts.

In spitting distance from the big bad T, this place goes about its business without, apparently, a care in the world. One of those shops that sells just about everything, M&C's is the perfect corner shop not on a corner. Ok so it cant compete on Tesco prices and you probably wouldn't want to do your big shop here but for a pint of milk or some kick ass fresh fruit when on the march, then this place wins hands down over the bright lights and big ques offered in Big T.

Morrisons is more in my budget range for the weekly shop, but there's always something in Waitrose to tempt you into spending more than you intended when you came in. Of course, all supermarkets want to do just that, but Waitrose seem to manage it more easily than most. This branch isn't huge, but it's somewhere larger than a 'metro' size and has more in it than you would think. They've even opened up a wee coffee bar at the front now, which seems to attract a few thirsty shoppers. The upstairs car park gives them a big advantage over Tesco and M&S farther down the road for bulk shoppers with deep pockets, but for me it's always a hand basket '5 items or less' style of visit.

Not only did it provide reassurance to it's residents that they were just as middle class as those from the nice parts of Edinburgh, but it allowed the West Enders to finally ditch their transparent bohemian pretence and concentrate on what's really important in life, like eating pheasant. When people talk about Waitrose it's position as a status symbol never seems far off their lips, but the quality is there too. If you're after something a bit special for dinner they sell countless brands you won't find elsewhere, and things like veal and venison that are often unavailable in other supermarkets. Well laid out, well stocked, and with a token nod to the fairtrade ethos if you feel guilty about spending a tenner on a loaf of bread. I'm glad they've arrived.

Do said midgets have mop attachments on their feet to allow a kind of 'killing two birds' type ethos when cleaning up afore mentioned debris? Most recent to shop for a Thanksgiving dinner I hosted for 15 of my friends. Everything about this Tesco Extra is great. It's big, it's bright, it's airy. There are nooks and crannys of goodies everywhere you turn. I've even noticed lately, there's a self serve kiosk to print pictures that you can simply hook up to your phone (they have phone jacks for every type of phone) and print photo quality pictures from your phone!! How mega is that?! I come here when I'm looking for things I can't find close to where I live (not that this Tesco is far away). They have loads of different ethnic sections where I have been able to buy things from back home that I wouldn't normally find at my local shops in town. Canned pumpkin and corn meal being two of the items I picked up for my party. The employees here have always been nothing less than helpful when I've needed them, and although it's always slammed packed with people, I've never had any issues with getting in and out with ease when I've needed to. There is underground parking which is fab on those rainy days (if you drive) and nearby access to public transportation if you need it. Also, in the building that houses Tesco, there's a post office, a Greggs, a card store, a dentist office, among other things. It really could be your one stop shop in the Mary Hill area! :) Although I prefer to shop local, there are just some days when a mega store is where I can find what I'm looking for! i'll always be back!

This is a new addition to the hospital in the "death star" main part of the hospital. It's actually quite a small M&S but they've managed to cram a lot of stuff in and cater for many people: - It's mostly food but there is some stuff like tissues, hand sanitizer available near the checkouts - There's a sandwich section if you're a staff member/visitor looking for a quick bite - There's also ready meals etc which I imagine would be really handy if you're heading home from work/visiting and need to grab something quickly We just popped in for some bread and a little dessert treat for me. It was lunch time so it was super busy and as the shop is small, it can be hard to navigate. But people are just in and out again so it shouldn't take too long. Overall, this is a nice wee M&S which I would definitely visit again.
