We had a pot of Assam tea and scones with jam and butter, all very nice with jams and scones being home-made. We sat outside as it was sunny but the indoors part look very nice and there was an art exhibition on.

I would say that they need to be careful in how they serve coffee as those we received were watered down. We were asked if we would like our scone heated but we did not realize this was done by microwave so not a good experience all round. If any reader wishes to visit this cafe please do so as it's not a chain and perhaps things will improve and noted here. We were unsure whether it was counter or table service and walked to the counter where a young lady gave us an unwelcome stare and without saying a word totally ignored us, turned on her heel and went off to talk to someone at a table. I am delighted that business at this place is doing so well that they can afford to treat customers indifferently but as far as we were concerned we voted with our feet and thankfully left and had lunch at the Rydal Arms where customer service seemed to be highly regarded.
