This random surprise hit me on a sunny Monday in Winchester when I saw two older ladies sat idly…read moreoutside having an ice cream in a large waffle cone that looked like caramel. Upon asking where they got it, they seemed to ignore me, which isn't a response I used to. When glancing more closely, I saw a tag with a language that wasn't English and politely excused myself. However, I asked the men on the bench next to them who pointed at the shop under my nose and in front of my face, and another up the road. On entering, there was a warm, friendly staff, who quite wickedly offered me a taste of the Dorset Sea Salted Caramel gelato. This was irresistible, along with the Honeycombe flavour too. Not only was this double waffle cone delight lovely, but it was slightly less expensive than the other ice cream vendor and, as an added bonus, it came with the choice of either a golden chocolate or dark chocolate stick! Heartily recommended and a place I'll need to take my partner and get the stamp on their loyalty card.

They also print the flavours on the window so you can get an idea of what you want before getting to the front which helps with the line. The ice cream has won numerous awards, and I can personally vouch that it is excellent! I generally like coffee and nut flavours, but there really is something for every taste. The ice cream cones either in cones or tubs. The staff are super friendly and efficient, and are currently open but with covid restrictions. Strongly recommended for a family treat.

At least, those of them from Mississippi State always said this -- perhaps because, as a major AG school, many of us take the production of good ice cream very seriously. We're not called a cow college for nothing. :) G & D's, of course, refers to George and Davis. And, indeed, they have very, very good ice cream. I tend to keep it simple with chocolate, and theirs was always stellar. They have a couple locations around town so you can pick the one most convenient to you. It's a very popular place with a loyal following of students, residents, and tourists alike, and definitely worth giving a try.

It offers flavours such as creme caramel, banoffee pie, cherry amaretto, peanut butter, strawberry yogurt, cookies and cream, crunchie just to name a few, as well as the usual favourites. You would never guess that the space use to be a old toilet block, which remained derelict for the past 7 years, before new business owners Mandeep and Jagbir Sidhu took it on. They worked hard to gutt, remodeland transform it into the bright, clean, open plan space it is now. There is comfy indoor seating as well as outdoor, with umbrellas and sandwiches for the winter period coming soon. Melt is perfect icecream parlour for every age. However if gelato is not your go, they also offer freshly ground, creamy coffee, decadent sundaes, waffles and other daily bakes. This place is growing day by day and is definitely a place to keep your eye on!

Not a good taste at all. The main course was guinea fowl, which lacked flavour, while the birthday girl had puntarella, which was seriously dull. Most disappointing. Matcha ice cream, sea buckthorn posset, manadrin granita, fennel meringue was ok but looked awful on the plate. £280 for four seemed a little over the top for such a meal.
