So I will say this. If you want to have a great time and get scammed be my guest! I bought some passes on TripAdvisor for a all day catamaran excursion. On the ad it says open bar, buffet of amazing foods, private beach, and no more then 40 people on the catamaran. Well, when we got there the sales started!!! They were telling us they will put up to 100 on a catamaran that we booked, the only way to not do this is to upgrade for 45 for a vip catamaran. The promise literally everything ours comes with, and downtalks the one we booked. Saying the one we booked there's up to 100 on the catamaran, Sandwhiches on out beach, and it's not private. We just wanted to have a good time so we did it. We caved to the scam. Even then there was still over 50 people on our catamaran, the private beach wasn't private and open to the public. We had a great time because we made the best of it, I figured I'd handle it once I got home which I did. I found out it's a complete scam. The company you book with sells you to another company, and you just don't get what you pay for. They admitted this to the TripAdvisor rep ray, but yet TripAdvisor won't remove. I was very disappointed. It's 7 hours long, yet you only get 20 minutes of Snorkeling (very rushed) . It's all about squeezing more money out of tourists. They sell you a golf cart on the island for $45 for an hour. Then after lunch we sail to downtown Playa del carmen to buy more stuff with the vendors. Unfortunately Cancún is not what it used to be. In snorkeling, we're rushed to find an underground statue. They Didn't keep the group together and I couldn't find them. Then I was told I had to get back to the boat. I wanted to see this statue and they said No. We need to get to Playa del Carmen. Of course to sell the golf cart and shop. At the end, they have the audacity to walk up to each person and ask for tips! Disappointed I paid $90 for this. read more

Extremely disappointed with the excursion aboard the Don Diego catamaran. We were approached by an associate on the beach of our resort where we were sold an amazing catamaran excursion much better than what the resort offered and at a much more reasonable price. We paid $85 per person under the assumption we would be on a catamaran that would take us to Isla Mujeres from Cancún, during which we would visit multiple stops, have a lunch buffet, snorkel at the underwater statues, and have the opportunity to hold a shark of some sort. To start off, the transportation picked us up from the resort at 9am (which without an international cell phone plan, was difficult to communicate with the driver). Under the assumption we would be departing shortly after arriving at the ship, we instead waited almost and hour and half to get on the boat. We were told by the individual who talked us through the waivers that there would be no drinking until after snorkeling which is why we would be snorkeling first (safety issue). The ride to Isla Mujeres was rough, even almost losing a few individuals off the front of the catamaran after a nasty wave. Before we even left the dock they had began serving alcoholic beverages which surprised my group, but we rolled with it. We indeed did NOT go snorkeling first, we instead stopped at the first stop which consisted of the lunch buffet and a beach. The buffet was decent, the beach was calm, and there were plenty of areas for photo opportunities. Free tequila tasting and the ability to rent a golf cart and follow a quick tour of the southern part of the island was fun! Made a few stops and got to explore the island a little. (only reason for 2 stars) After this stop, we then returned to the catamaran and departed for the downtown stop. This was a complete waste of time. By the time the boat docked and everyone got off, you were given 45 minutes to explore. However, the stop is pretty much a hotel beach so you can't sit in the chairs and it was so busy with nonstop boats dropping off people it was impossible to move around. As we boarded the boat again to leave this stop, we were given all the equipment to go snorkeling. This was the part we were most excited for, however we were dropped near a coast of the island that boats were consistently going past which meant the waters were rough. Add on that instead of snorkeling first, it was the last thing we did so the wind had picked up considerably since the morning and most everyone onboard was too intoxicated to get in the water. However, if they still wanted to go snorkeling so once we got to the spot you were screamed at to get off the boat and start swimming ASAP. My cousin and I were not intoxicated and are considerably good swimmers, but we even struggled to stay above the crashing waves. It was terrifying. Let alone, most of the spot we snorkeled was seated grass. Less than a minute of seeing any sort of fish during a 25 minute swim for your life. Many of the intoxicated individuals who got in the water had to be dragged back to the boat by staff. At no point was there an opportunity to hold a shark nor any talk of being able to parasail. We felt as if we paid $85 just to go on a shopping trip off the resort and almost drown. Would not recommend. read more

This company is very dishonest. They promise visiting the underground museum, but don't, they promise multiple snorkel spots, but there was just one stop with 4 other boats and about 200 people released in the water at once. They promised parasailing off the boat, and said "it was too windy" but didn't even have the equipment for it installed on the boat. They operate like a factory, stuff 50+ people on one ship, with standing room only. Even at $30 a person, this was a complete waste of money and time. We left the group at isla mujeres and did our own thing, took the public ferry back for $10. As we told the guy that we were going to part from the group and take our own transportation back he asked if we can leave a tip for the crew. I'm all for tipping when it has been earned and certainly not when it is asked for. The service and attitude was deplorable. Don't waste your time. read more

Not sure if it was a scam or if it really was because of the weather (weather seemed fine to everyone) but we did not do the snorkeling nor did we visit the underwater museum like we were promised, which is funny cause the guy who sold us the packet said a lot of companies promise so many things but don't meet them. We texted him that day he was very apologetic but said due to the weather we couldn't do it. Would have been nice to know beforehand so we can check the weather or book a different tour. RUN AWAY. We were told picture with baby sharp, parasailing and lunch on the island. We received, snorkeling and a nasty buffet outside on an island with FLIES. The boat was packed and it was the oldest most unsafe boat you can imagine. And it actually did break down on us! We had to be rescued! Besides being lied to and the boat breaking down. We were actually left there as well. We were told multiple times that they would pick us up after, and they never came. Try finding your own way home in a country that speaks a different language then you. Sickening. We were with these IDOITS, between 9am-7pm it was extended because of the mishap with the boat, and we were actually BEGGED for tips at the end. This experience was the most unprofessional unorganized joke of an excursion you'll ever dream of. And dirty. Let me just say that. I'll be getting a tetanus shot when I'm home. We spent 130 on this, (for 2 people) and then an additional 24 for what they called the doc fee. Besides that we were asked to pay for bus fare to and from. Told we had to buy a go cart for the island for another 35. Save yourself the aggravation, just book through the resort. read more

I posted this on google reviews but need to post it here too: Please, save yourself the money and DO NOT book with this company. Don't sign up online, in person, at your hotels--just avoid them completely. Like others have said they over promise and don't provide. First off the men in charge of the boat were incredibly rude and rushing us on and off the boat. There was about 40 people on the boat so things will move slowish. Our "breakfast" that was supposedly included was fake ass orange juice and butter cookies. The open bar is just a ton of drinks they come around giving to you, you don't really have an option. They played loud obnoxious music, we would have preferred a lower volume but just ignored this part but it's there. They kept saying it was the party boat, but we didn't want to be on a party boat and if they would've told us that at the beginning we would've asked to not be on a party boat--we wanted to snorkel and see the "underwater museum" (musa) which we did not get to see at all. The snorkeling is ridiculous because they want you to stay together so people are swimming on top of each other and kicking each other and it was just one stop. The buffet was incredibly disappointing but by the time we got there our expectations were very low. If you don't sign up for the golf carts that cost 700 pesos (on the isla they're like 300-450) they just leave you there for 2.5 hours. Honestly, just don't do it. We didn't read the reviews because we booked it on a whim, but it was not worth it. We were so disappointed because our expectations had been set for a great time. 18/10 do not recommend. read more

The boat ride is very beautiful and all of the crew members were excellent and respectful EXCEPT Omar, the crew member with an eyebrow ring. While snorkeling, Omar grabbed my friend's waist and attempted to grab her butt in the water without her consent. I wish I could leave half or 0 stars. Just like many of the other reviews on here, we had a very similar experience. My husband and I paid $60 each for what we thought was gonna be a fun day at Isla Mujeres. We were a little skeptical at first, but we figured because of Covid prices were down and capacity was limited. We bought our package through a really nice guy at a luxury shopping mall in Cancun. He told us that this trip was all inclusive. That was definitely not true.Once we got to the boat dock, they try to sell you on everything. They made us pay extra for valet parking, they sold us on an upgrade where they told us we would be on a bigger, nicer boat with less people and we were guaranteed shaded seats. So we upgraded. We were excited because we thought we were going to get what we paid for. Once we got down to the beach they also tried to sell us again. They told us we couldn't wear sunscreen that wasn't reef safe, and they tried to get us to buy a $25 bottle of reef safe sunscreen. This wasn't communicated to us before hand so we didn't know what to do. I won't to tell you what we ended up doing. Once we got on the boat, our boat was full. We were told that occupancy was about 15 to 20 people, but there were definitely upwards of 40 people on our boat. We stopped to go snorkeling, which was nice, but like other reviews everybody was on top of each other because we weren't free to swim around. We had to stay with a tour guide. We only were able to swim for like 15 minutes. The drinks were totally watered down and the food on the island was trash. They definitely give you free drinks, but pretty sure it's mostly club soda. The food on the island was buffet style hot dogs, spaghetti, and basically cafeteria lunch food. Not to mention it's picked over by everybody. They also promised that they would take us to the most beautiful beach in Isla Mujeres... they did, but we were there for probably 45 minutes where the entire time we were harassed by vendors trying to sell us things. Even after we told them no they kept coming back. They also used offensive language when we told them no. The beach was so packed and there were so many people there. Our second stop was a lunch stop, and at that beach was also packed with people. They jammed 3-4 boats worth of people into one small beach. Like I said earlier, they mentioned it was all inclusive, but you had to pay for seating or a golf cart to leave. also, we were promised a spinnaker and that was never even brought up when we got on the boat. Total rip-off. The highlight of my husband a I's trip was was getting off the boat. Not on one of the islands, it was getting off the boat at the end of the day. If this tells you anything about the boat experience, please take it from somebody who absolutely got ripped off. At the end of the day, we ended up spending about $250 on what we were told was a $60 all-inclusive trip. We got hustled for sure. 10/10 wouldn't recommend. read more

OK, I'm reading these horrible reviews and I'll have to disagree with most of them. The sailing part was awesome, yes, they play loud music but it was a lot of fun! If you're a stuffy "American" you may not like it, most of the passengers were Latin, spoke Spanish and liked the music...some got up to dance. I was onboard the Gypsie, with Many as the captain, he and the other guys were great! Upon arrival to the island, we had lunch at the buffet which was decent, then rented a gold cart and drove around...that was very neat. We rode to the south shore first then sailed to the north shore which was livelier and has one of the worlds most beautiful beaches. A slice of pizza is $3 there. However....I'm giving it 3 starts because of the following incident that occurred; snorkeling, or the attempt to. Let me backtrack to the start. The boats stop approximately 1KM off the coast (pretty far) before arrival. Everyone grabs their gear and is essentially thrown into the ocean to snorkel. The problem was, my 9 year old daughter was also joining. It was our first time and despite being great swimmers, we (I) was nervous. The water was a bit choppy and I was already sea sick. The problem was that you can't really know how BAD the water is until you're in it! We jumped off and I immediately knew it was a bad idea! We had life vests on but the waves were splashing on our faces and my daughter was in distress about 30 seconds in! She gasped for air and a wave would hit her face, she was swallowing water and I began holding her up (which pushed me down) and we were both freaking out! I swear it was 1 minute later when I turned around and realized we were about 30 ft from the boat!! I immediately waved down the lifeguard and he quickly "rescued" us! I told him children should NOT be allowed in such waters, that THEY are the professionals and should know better! What the heck do I know?! You can't tell until you're in it. It seemed like they just wanted to complete their daily routine of getting people on then off and be finished! I had nightmares every night about this and feel like my daughter's life was at risk that day. My suggestion is to not take kids on this tour, or don't allow them to snorkel. I really enjoyed it! I took the boat with my boyfriend and we had a great experience! The guys working there were very nice. There was open bar all the way, the lunch in the island was also great with a lot of options! Everything very nice and fun! We went at the Neptune boat. Just avoid them completely I wish I would have found this page first . They promised us so many things when booking that did not happen at all . They told us we would get a continental breakfast before boarding the boat so I skipped getting breakfast in the way there and deeply regretted it . The "breakfast" was juice and cookies . They claimed they would provide a buffet lunch and again I was deeply disappointed after we were handing out box lunches like school children . The box lunch had a ham sandwich ( no cheese or anything ) a banana a muffin and some chips . When booking they promised us that we would get to relax in the beach in Isla Murejes but failed to tell us that the island was shut down currently so we couldn't get off the boat when we arrived ! We just sailed past it . The snorkeling was good but beware they make u snorkel in the middle of the ocean so the water is very rough not suitable for children . We purchased 5 tix from tixntours a booth inside Kukulcan Plaza just outside of Soriana Supermarket. The tour agent name is Solomon. He told us that this Sail Away tour is a private tour, unlimited drinks, snorkeling etc. that whatever is on the flyer is what we are going to experience. 1. on the snorkeling part the catamaran stopped on the 5th boat and the crew wants us to swim all the way to the 1st boat with a small floatie (not a full life vest) that they didn't even explained how to use. We didn't see any MUSA underwater Art Museum.2. the music that they played on the catamaran is VERY inappropriate for kids considering we have at least 20 minors on the catamaran. 3. the lunch buffet provided is the worst food I've ever tried. Selection is so bad! Soda doesn't have carbonation and the worst thing is the server is pushing us to give him tip while were still eating. 4. the trainor for the catshark won't allow us to have a picture with the animal because he said we are wearing a different bracelet and we belong to a different group. 5. the host told us to get ready by 1:30pm because the catamaran will leave exactly at 1:30pm. Sadly, we found out the catamaran just dropped us in this island and left to pick up other passengers. We have to wait for 50minutes which we can use to play some more on this dirty water island. 6. They picked us up and dripped us again in downtown to do an hour of shopping only. So we rushed ourselves to finished our shopping in less than hour only to wait for that catamaran again for 45 minutes. They left us again and went some place to pick up other passengers. 7. This time it was raining already and we cannot do the spinaker which we could have done on the way to Isla Mukeres because it was sunny and perfect to do the spinaker. 8. the catamaran is jump packed with lots of people to a point wherein there's no space to drop anything. 9. Solomon said we will be charged 3% extra if we pay using credit card to paybthe dock fee. When we checked in on the pier they charged us 5% instead of 3%. All in all we wasted almost 3 hours waiting for this catamaran. I do not recommend this company specially if you have kids. read more

This sail away excursion was very unprofessional and I was lied to by the captain about what was going to happen. I bought my ticket through a really nice guy at the kiosk in the luxury mall next to my condo & told him that I was looking for an excursion where I can go to the MUSA and he recommended me this. I was aware that it was also a booze Cruze but I was there for the MUSA. We never went to the MUSA so I complained and the captain told me the water was to rough to go but what didn't make sense was the fact that we went to another location to dive and yes the current a bit rough but I don't know the hell we never went to the MUSA. I talked to someone that works for the company because they wouldn't let me talk to the manger after we made it back and they offered me another trip for free but the weather was just as bad the next day (the weather was nice and a bit windy) so I declined. Before the trip ever started I asked firmly whether or not we were going to MUSA and I was told yes. Don't give this business your money. Especially if you want to dive the MUSA. Find another business for cheaper because this excursion sucks ass read more
