Sunset at the end of our sail

We had an amazing sail with Tim and could not recommend Sail Austin enough! We were celebrating a graduation, and Tim went above and beyond to make sure our 3hr sunset sail was memorable. From the moment we stepped on the boat, Tim was accommodating, kind, and knowledgeable. He customized the sail for us, making sure we had time to swim in Lake Travis and he captured great photos along the way. He also answered our many questions about sailing and Lake Travis. The boat was clean, large, and perfectly suited for lounging or enjoying a picnic dinner/wine as we did. Thanks, Tim!! We look forward to sailing with you again in the future.

Capn Tim was so amazing. Such a sweet and clearly knowledgeable man that loves what he does. Made the sail so enjoyable, we got to jump into the water, play our own music, eat some food and drink some drinks. We all chatted on the way back about just how lovely of a time we had. Thank you Captain!

Sunset prior to the fireworks show. A great view.

The way to celebrate the 4th of July holiday is on Cap'n Tim's boat. The sunset sail was a surprise birthday gift and a priceless experience. Being that this was my first time sailing, Cap'n Tim made me feel extremely comfortable before leaving the dock with his focus on safety and a good time. We could relax and enjoy the gorgeous sunset as we awaited the fireworks show. The boat is very spacious, with multiple backdrops for photo opportunities. I highly recommend experiencing as a local or entertaining guests. It's a gorgeous time on Lake Travis. I look forward to returning in the future.

Our friend organized an amazing sail boat outing for her boyfriends birthday! We are so lucky to have attended. Captain Tim was very funny, authentic, and made our first sailing experience one to remember. He captured great photos of us both posed and candid! We will definitely keep him and sail austin in mind anytime we may want to do another charter! Thanks a bunch!

Beautiful, high-quality photos were included in the package. We LOVE them.

We booked Sail Austin with Captain Tim as part of a corporate off-site, and had the BEST time. We had 16 or so people on their sailboat. Tim kept us safe and thought of everything to have a great time. The kitchen was stocked with essentials and snacks (we also brought BBQ takeout -- highly recommend!). We played our favorite music over his powerful Bluetooth speaker. The water was smooth, and we caught a beautiful sunset. We spent 4 days in Austin total and everybody agrees that this was the highlight of the trip. I hope to work with Sail Austin again soon.

Best time ever! A couples must do!!! Loved watching the sunset! Captain Tim was awesome sailing the sail boat solo!!! Must do again!!!

Wonderful experience!!…read more Our captain Jason made the experience memorable and fun! Our group was a little late and he still waited for us, still accommodated our request to stop at the lake store for snacks cause we were all starving. He took us to the best spots on the lake. We had a blast!

If you're looking for a way to celebrate a birthday (or honestly, life in general) that feels equal…read moreparts special, effortless, and genuinely fun--Lake Travis Yacht Rentals absolutely delivers. Let's start with the most important part: The yacht & the captain: 100 stars. The boat itself was spotless, comfortable, and exactly what you want for a day on the lake. But the real standout was our captain--hands down one of the coolest humans I've encountered on any kind of guided experience. Friendly, professional, and endlessly complimentary about how great we were as guests (which, let's be clear, felt extra nice coming from someone who has seen things on Lake Travis). For context, our group skewed older--mostly 40+, with a handful of 20-somethings who are basically old souls. Chill, respectful, there to celebrate without chaos. The captain matched our energy perfectly and made the entire experience feel relaxed and personal. Now, let's talk logistics--specifically parking and boarding. This is the one part of the experience that deserves an honest heads-up. Parking is an all-dirt "field," which then leads to a steep downhill trek to the beach area where the smaller boats pick you up to take you to the marina. I brought a wagon loaded with food and supplies, and "treacherous" is not an exaggeration. It's doable, but it's not easy--especially if you're hauling a full setup. That said, every single person involved was incredibly kind and helpful. The guy driving the smaller boat went above and beyond to make boarding as smooth as possible, and his assistance made a huge difference. No docks, no smooth ramp--just good people doing their best in a less-than-ideal setup. Once on the yacht? Pure magic. We played our own music, set up our food and drinks (yes, you can bring your own--major win), and settled in immediately. There's a fridge on board if you need it, which is a nice bonus. When it was time to swim, the captain put out a massive floating mat plus floating saddles, which made being in the water comfortable, social, and easy. No scrambling, no stress--just floating, laughing, and enjoying the moment. Everything we needed for a low-stress, high-fun birthday celebration was provided. One small suggestion for future bookers: We anchored near other yachts, and it definitely leaned rowdy. To be clear--I am not anti-rowdy. Everyone deserves to live their best lake life. But knowing our group, we probably would've enjoyed a more secluded area. This doesn't take away from the experience or my rating at all--it's just something I'd mention upfront next time so the vibe perfectly matches the group. Bottom line: We had an amazing time. The service was excellent, the experience was memorable, and it felt well worth it. I would absolutely book with Lake Travis Yacht Rentals again--and recommend them to friends, family, birthday planners, and anyone looking to do Lake Travis right.

My hubby and I have been yearning for the sailing life for literal years now, and we decided that…read morethis summer was the perfect time to start making that dream a reality by taking the first sailing course, ASA 101! Our initial thought was to find a sailing school in Kemah, but I wondered if there was one closer to us, and, sure enough, there is! Enter Outbound Sailing on Lake Travis. We scheduled our class right away online, and the manager, Sean, confirmed with us almost immediately. Both he and Tim, the business owner, were absolute pleasures to work with! When the day finally came for Day 1 of our ASA 101 course, we headed over to Lakeway to meet our instructor, Spencer, at the dock, and, y'all, he is seriously the most open, sweet, encouraging, and engaging person ever, and that's not hyperbole! I was extremely nervous about the whole thing, but he immediately made me feel INCREDIBLY at ease, and, we got straight to work! From beginning to end, hubby and I knew that Spencer had our backs, from the dock talks to the rigging talks to the knot talks to the hours of beautiful practice sailing. He made all of that hard work feel like pure fun! Make no mistake, though, y'all! It IS hard work, and you need to know that going in! It's an actual class, so don't expect mimosas and charcuterie boards as you sail! LOL! You need to Really. Want. To. Learn. How. To. Sail. We did, so we were all in! Pro tip: When they tell you to buy the official ASA book for the course and to study it PRIOR to the class, take them seriously! Study, and especially commit the Points of Sail and the sailboat, sails, and rigging parts to memory. Also, do the 4 review sections! It'll all make things a lot easier on you! There's a 100 multiple choice question official ASA exam that you take on the morning of Day 2, and, while Spencer was a GENIUS at preparing us for it, we were able to spend more time actually sailing because of how prepared we made ourselves ahead of time! After two intense and awesome days, hubby and I both ended up passing the course to become ASA 101 certified (yay!), but, most importantly, we truly had the time of our lives doing it, and we absolutely have Spencer LeGrande and Outbound Sailing to thank for that!

LOL Captain Scott is a skilled sailor and a wonderful instructor... I'd take another class from him any time. Captain Tim, one of the owners, met with my wife and me before we decided to take the lessons. He spent all the time needed to answer all of our questions and explain the process. Lake Travis is a good place to take your sailing training, the winds come from all directions and are constantly changing. We are looking forward to further honing our sailing skills and sailing with Outbound Sailing. We highly recommend you check them out if you're thinking about learning to sail.

Before arriving to the dock, Trisha, who has been coordinating with us, and Brett, our captain, contacted us about half an hour ahead of time notifying us that Brett was ready for us at the lake whenever we arrived! Upon arrival, he provided a cooler with ice and water bottles for us to use to store some of our sandwiches and drinks. The boat ride was extremely smooth and he provided much insight into Lake Travis!
