If there was an option for zero stars, I would choose that.
Zero stars for the food. Zero stars ESPECIALLY for the service.
I'll start with the food: We ordered spring rolls which were okay. I wouldn't say they were bad but I definitely wouldn't say they were good either. My dad ordered a beef vermicelli dish and my mom ordered seafood pho. The vermicelli dish was extremely sweet (not in a good way!) and I sampled my mom's seafood pho as I waited for my dish and I couldn't help but think it was the lamest seafood pho I've ever tried.
For those reasons, I was excited for my dish to come out, hoping it'd be better than the other two. Well, here's where the zero star service comes in: the waitress brought my dish (I ordered vegetarian pho with tofu) but there was beef in it so I asked her if maybe my dish got mixed up with someone else's. She asked what number I ordered and I told her 60 and then she said she heard me say 16. Fair enough. They're pretty close phonetically so I wasn't mad about it at all. However I was surprised when she told me she would not be able to bring out number 60 because 16 had already been made for me. I tried to reason with her for a long time and her defense was that it was actually my fault because when one orders #60, the waitress normally asks, "fried tofu or steamed tofu, beef or vegetable broth?" and since I didn't catch her asking me about those options, I should have figured that she may have misunderstood my order. FYI, it was the first time I had been there. A few minutes passed and at this point, I knew there was no reasoning with her. Since I'm not a vegetarian and I know that waitressing can be a tough job sometimes, I decided to be a sport and just accept the #16 dish. Well, it was terrible. I have had pho many times before at various restaurants in different cities and this one was seriously by far the worst I've ever had. Even if this whole terrible service mixup thing didn't happen, I still stand behind my word. The noodles tasted pre-packaged and were clumped together and the broth was like lightly salted brown water. So I ended up taking one bite and not eating the rest. The waitress came with the check and my dad was pretty pissed and told her that he didn't think it was fair. She then responded with, "Well, when there's a mistake, it comes out of my check." I don't think that really helped her at all. Just shows that she didn't want to bring me the correct dish because it would cost her. It just pissed us all off even more. I understand why that sucks for her but I don't think she could see why it sucks that I should have to pay for a dish that I did not order. Finally, she rolled her eyes and said, "Fine. I will take it off your check." So, she walked to the register, explained to the person at the register, which we were 2 ft. away from so could hear everything and said that, "The beef pho should be taken off even though she ate it." She didn't say anything about her misunderstanding my order so basically made it seem like we were trying to score some free food. They took off the order but they added in some weird charge of $2.50 which we tried to decipher for a while amongst ourselves and when the person at the register saw, she came by, underlined some stuff on the receipt and then pointed to the check the waitress wrote and said, "WE TOOK IT OFF."
I still don't know what the $2.50 was for, nor do I care. Bottom line, this place has crappy food and crappy service. If for some reason you decide to go, I suggest you physically point, with your finger, what you want in the menu to save yourself a LOT of mayhem. read more
