Hard uncocked potatoes.
juan h.

This is what you will get for 25us, uncooked potatoes, no even a quarter of pound of chicken/meat picadinho. The waiter bartender doesn't even ask or check after served, absolutely poor customer services skills. Kitchen sucks & lame service.

Really good sangria

This place was so cute and quaint and you can sit outside or at the bar. It's small but popular for their sangria so when you're in the Newark NJ check out.

I've just had my first Portuguese food experience and was happy it's been here. The waiter was from Portugal and knew the menu inside and out. I had two empanadas to start to be safe and they were excellent. One beef, one chicken. The bread was extremely fresh and tasty with the little pieces of extras from the appetizer and adding butter. For dinner I settled on the Bitoque. I wasn't disappointed. It was a thinner steak topped with a dark garlic type sauce comparable to Worcestershire. I recommend this restaurant for sure. Good food and great service!

Cheese fries.

I could give more stars. It's a nice place with open doors to the street and friendly staff, perfect for summer nights. Yummy drinks, but their cheese fries are a joke. If it was my business I would be embarrassed to serve such thing (see picture). They threw four cheese slices on the top of the fries and I guess put them inside the oven. The fries were soggy and the cheese was disgusting. I would remove it from the menu. It's just bad.

Portugese sausage

Ambiance: loud, vibrant The restaurant is intimate. Our group of 12 was the largest in the diningroom, there were other group tables besides ours. Service: So-so. There seem to be only 2 wait staff who functioned as a bartender, bus boy and food runner. Our waitress was decent in terms of friendliness. Unfortunately, it took about 2 hrs to get our food. One member of our party's food came out wrong despite waiting that long. Not the waitress' fault, the kitchen had a hard time getting out our food. Food: Appetizers: portugese sausage - was kind of like a kielbasa. Empanadas (chicken & corn was good but the beef one was not cooked all the way through, it was cold in the center) Brazilian croquettes were filled with shredded chicken and corn, it was tasty! Fried calamari was kind of rubbery. Entree: Paella valencia ($40) with half a lobster was a bit too soggy and salty. Otherwise, it had a decent amount of seafood in it.

From the moment I walked in. I liked the ambiance. Very cozy, home feeling. Not loud, nice music…read moreplaying and mild lighting. I went at night. The woman(greeter) at the front was very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing! They had actually just closed the kitchen but a gentleman named Kaylor (K) came over and said they would make what we like on the menu. It was so kind and very accommodating because we was very hungry. We ordered Moroccan Lamb Meatballs with warm grilled pita bread, Bangkok Shrimp, Burkes Sliders which was larger than your average slider bursting with flavor. I couldn't believe how good the food was. It was a last minute find on a Friday night ,a true hidden gem. The flavor, seasonings, just each meal had a unique taste and was cooked to perfection. You could tell they use good quality meat and ingredients. They have a full bar with seating on the side of the main dining area. The cocktails were amazing. Very well blended. I had 2 drinks Malibu Bay Breeze and a Margherita. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Yummy!!!! I left there very pleased .

I can't speak for any of the other food, but I am willing to guess that it is also delicious. The restaurant is a cute casual local spot. Their charred oysters are a must try! The catfish bites are delicious as well! Also don't miss the onion rings! The staff treats you like family! We simply loved it! There was no way for me to make a reservation online so I took my chance. I was there with two other people and we were lucky to get enough to get there when we did. The place started to get packed quickly. We got a table on the top floor (there is a bottom floor). Our waitress/bartender CiCi was great. She was busy but still attentive. We got Louie Char Grilled Oysters, thai chili wings Catfish nuggets, fries and burger with fries. For drinks, we got blueberry lemon drop martini and margaritas. Both drinks were tad a bit too tart and not strong enough. Our food was delicious. Though I wish the fries were shoestrings fries and it they had a parmesean truffle option. Great place to listen to music, have some good food and drinks before a concert at the Prudential Center

The food here is pretty solid. There's a little something for everyone to have like a little snack…read morewith your wine. The wine selection is top notch. Always very interesting and cool wines on the list! The staff? Probably the friendliest people you ever did meet. If you end up there even twice in the same month, they'll likely recognise you and give you a hearty, friendly hello. I've come here multiple times, and generally tend to buy at least one bottle. I've especially loved coming when there's folks who are willing to foot the bill for the night out, so that I can enjoy the really good stuff they have on offer. In those cases, we order multiple bottles, and keep the cocktails coming. They automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill, so there's no chance you're going to fumble the tip at the end of the night. Assume that any price on the menu is 30% higher, on account of sales tax being over 6%, and automatic gratuity being 20% added to your bill. Early on when this place opened, the vibe was chill, and you could bring people and have a conversation and a really nice time tasting the various wines on offer. Lovely. Get a cocktail, and the bartenders will take care of it, and make it perfectly. So why the 1 star? As time went on, they decided to hire a DJ to come in and spin music. Cool no worries. Then the DJs decided it's REALLY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO HEAR THE MUSIC YOU GUYS. SO LET'S BLAST IT AT EAR BLEEDING LEVELS. AND NO, THE STAFF WILL NOT REQUEST TO TURN IT DOWN. NOPE. WE GOTTA BLAST IT LIKE WE'RE IN A NIGHT CLUB. I thought maybe I had an off night, and it was one dude who had an agenda, so I went back a couple more times. Everything is gucci until the DJ shows up. Then all of a sudden you're all "WOW THE NOTES OF PLUM AND MINERALITY IN THIS WINE IS DELIGHTFUL!" "WHAT?" "I SAID THE NOTES OF PLUM AND MINERALITY IS DELIGHTFUL." "WHAT?" "WHAT?" If you're going to charge me in the neighbourhood of like $18 for a glass of wine or a cocktail, don't blast music like it's a freaking strip club and drown out any ability to have a conversation with the people I brought here thinking it's going to be a classy experience. If I wanted to go some place to shake my backside and dance to loud obnoxious music, I'd go to the other million and a half annoying loud places that exist already. Why they had to take such a delightful space, which had such a calm and peaceful vibe, and turn it into a trashy night club is beyond me, but I have zero desire to ever set foot in here again. The vibe sucks, and I'm not willing to spend that kind of money to be unable to hear the people I came with. I don't care about the DJ's agenda. The music should be a nice backdrop to the space, so that it enhances the mood, not stomps all over it like a herd of spooked cattle.

Followed that up with their crisp house focaccia with herb butter and the olive mix - both also discounted on happy hour. The server was absolutely wonderful and helped me choose a lovely wine to follow. She made my cocktail with care. The record selection was eclectic (Jamiroquai was in rotation) and a live DJ was just starting a groove as I had to leave. I would have loved to spend more time there.
