The pink and undercooked looking meat
Blake W.

I ate here twice and both times were terrible, the first time, the food was terrible, service was the main cause and was also terrible, and the ambiance is of light Mexican culture. However, my second time the food looked undercooked and the bathroom had a hole in the ceiling. However our server this time was very nice and was holding up the entire experience because he was the only good thing about it. Give that man a raise‍

Fake reservation..lol

I rarely write reviews, but our recent experience was incredibly frustrating due to a total breakdown in service and management. We had a youth football game run late, so I adjusted our waitlist reservation on the app and received a text confirmation for a party of 8 under "Sarah." When we arrived, the host stand had a reservation for a "Sean" but insisted they couldn't find ours, despite me showing them the text confirmation on my phone. They were polite enough and estimated a 20-minute wait, and fortunately, we were sat sooner than that.Unfortunately, that is where the service completely stopped. We sat for a long time without even being greeted or brought water. Because my son was overheating from his football game, my father eventually had to go to the bar themselves just to get him a glass of water. After 30 minutes, we finally received chips, but still no drink orders had been taken. My son actually ended up having to go home early with his grandfather because he was unwell and we couldn't get any timely service to get him food or a drink. When our waiter, Nick, finally brought our drinks, we asked if we could place our food order since we had been waiting so long. He told us he had to take another table's drink order first and left. From the time we sat down to the time we received our food (6:40PM to 7:55PM), we watched five other tables in our section get seated, get their drinks and food, and completely finish their meals and leave. To make matters worse, we watched tables who arrived well after us get served their food first.I understand that youth staff are learning and things get busy, but a 1.5-hour wait for food with virtually no communication or basic table service is unacceptable for a party of our size. I hope management uses this as a training tool to improve their reservation tracking and table pacing. Also next time the hostesses want to talk on the floor about how I "stole a reservation we didn't make " next time remember the text I showed you , showing the reservation made ?

Happy family memories growing up in Lake Orion & Sagebrush was a favorite. Moved over 20yrs ago & just thrilled to be visiting Fenton & discover this location. Prime dinner time Saturday evening showed a 20min wait, they sat us within 5min, hustling cleaning tables seeing our party had a man on crutches. Young sweet hostess offered on her own to hold them behind the reception station while we ate. Holly P. our waitress was FABULOUS! She was enthusiastic with suggestions & service. Seemed to enjoy her job & was great at it. We changed our order, she didn't seem annoyed & got it right on a busy prime hour weekend! So thrilled for a great experience after all these years! Both locations have Thousands of great reviews! Very Impressive!!

a plate of food on a table

This review can be quick, because this place is very straight forward (in a great way) 1- huge portions... huge! You get what you pay for 2- a lot of variety 3- great service, though this place is very busy all the time it seem like 4- huge portions (repeating because they're big) It's a classic American Mexican place, and the margs are great!

Cantina Fries

I got the Catina fries as an appetizer and the chimichanga for my meal. The Catina fries were good for the first couple bites but then the jalapeño overpowered it. This appetizer would be much better if there was less jalapeño. The chimichanga itself was very good, I really enjoyed the fresh guacamole and sour cream. The beans and rice were okay, nothing special. The hostess was very polite and seated us right away. Our server was also nice and efficient. Sagebrush has a welcoming ambiance. I love the Mexican theme. This is a perfect place to go to have a drink and watch some sports.

I love this place. They have the best chicken enchiladas. They're probably cocktail prices are too high though.

Bar food, Cancun down the street is 10 times better. Service was fine, they need a better menu, just like Buffalo Wild Wings...

The restaurant itself is bright, colorful, clean, and really well designed. I loved the clever bench seating, the bar was well stocked, and there's outdoor seating plus an upstairs area that looked really cool. They also have a walk-up taco window outside, which is a fun idea. We sat in the bar area, and the service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food, though, was really underwhelming. Almost everything we tried lacked seasoning and flavor. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which had very little chicken and were pretty bland. I did like the very thinly sliced jalapeños on top. The rice was nice and fluffy but didn't have much flavor, and they serve black beans, which just aren't my preference with Mexican food. The house-made salsa was surprisingly sweet, and I was disappointed that the chips didn't seem house-made. If I'm going out for Mexican food, fresh chips are one of those little things I really look forward to. My husband ordered tacos at $6 each, which felt pretty steep considering we're used to excellent tacos in the $2-$3 range. His carne asada was cooked closer to medium rare, which wasn't what we expected at all from carne asada. The queso was another disappointment. It tasted very similar to Rico's cheese sauce you can buy at the grocery store. Overall, great service, great decor, very clean and a fun atmosphere, but the food just didn't match the setting or the reviews for us. At these prices, I expected a lot more flavor. Unfortunately, we left pretty disappointed.

It feels like we are clubbing in here. Can't have a conversation really. The corn chips are not fresh, could be better if they were freshly made. I want the chips to be good. The elote seems to be mixed with the queso, which is really runny. It tastes better, but could be thicker. The guacamole is average, not a lot of flavor to it. Main food orders in after about 15 minutes after we were seated. The flautas are super dry, the chicken that is. The chicken isn't even jerky like, just bark like burnt. The lobster quesadilla tastes rather interesting. On closer examination after the odd texture of the lobster, it had the strangest layers to it, reminds me of the Krab. Something quite odd about their lobster for sure, comes across to me as imitation meat. Hard to describe how weird it was to me, has completely left me at a loss and utterly confused. Meat doesn't have the chew I expected at all, mostly disintegrated in my mouth without biting it and the odd layers really threw me off exceedingly. My husband asked our waitress about the nature of the lobster meat to Nikki. She asked the kitchen if the lobster meat in the quesadilla and enchiladas was real lobster meat. The kitchen of course said yes, it is. I wouldn't have expected anyone to say the lobster meat was imitation though. Such a strange meal and experience tonight.
