Oh, Marty. Where to begin…read more My friends and I were in Mammoth for the weekend, genuinely excited to support local businesses, when we made the unfortunate decision to step into his T-shirt shop. What we expected was charm. What we received was a masterclass in performative disdain. At 31 years old, I picked up a $5 teacup not to "run with," as was dramatically alleged from behind the register throne but because I was delighted by how adorable it was. Apparently, visible joy is prohibited. Marty barked at me to put it down, as though I were mid-heist rather than mid-smile. It was fascinating, really. You don't often encounter a business model rooted so firmly in hostility. The energy shifted instantly. Items we had every intention of purchasing were calmly returned to their shelves. As we walked out, someone reasonably observed, "You'd think you'd be grateful for customers supporting your local business." Marty's response? "I'm not grateful for customers." And there it was. Radical honesty. Needless to say, we along with several other shoppers exited in unison. If you're visiting Mammoth and enjoy being scolded by a crochety man for experiencing happiness near a teacup, this may be your spot. Otherwise, I'd recommend investing your money somewhere that understands the revolutionary concept of customer service. To be continued... Marty had a golden opportunity to respond with a shred of accountability. Instead, he chose fiction. I would never throw merchandise, nor was I disrespectful at any point. The second he barked at me to put down the $5 teacup, I calmly did so and promptly returned every other item I intended to purchase. I have no interest in funding hostility masquerading as "local charm." We left immediately and happily spent our money at the adorable bookstore next door where customer service still exists and dollars are welcomed. For the record, I fully intended to buy the items in my hands before his unnecessary outburst. Small businesses deserve support. Small egos with big tempers do not. I'd strongly suggest shopping elsewhere. Frankly, a 2.6 rating feels generous given our collective experience with this chronically irritable man.

1 Star (and even that feels generous)…read more My family and I had one of the most uncomfortable and disrespectful experiences I've ever had in a retail store in Mammoth. The moment we walked into this t-shirt shop, we were not greeted -- not even a basic "hello." Instead, we were immediately stared at by someone who appeared to be the owner. The atmosphere was cold, judgmental, and honestly hostile from the start. We are a family of four -- my wife and our two young boys. As we entered, my younger son picked up a small box that looked like a puzzle or toy item. Before we even had a chance to browse or look around, the owner sharply said something along the lines of: "Can you have your son put that back if you're not going to buy?" Let that sink in: a child holds an item for a moment, and he immediately assumes we are there to steal or damage something. No courtesy. No patience. No professionalism. Just pure accusation and disrespect. But what made it worse was that he didn't stop there -- he proceeded to make a comment about our parenting. That was beyond inappropriate. Nobody goes on vacation to Mammoth to get insulted by a grown man behind a counter who clearly has no business interacting with people, let alone families. I could have confronted him right there, but I chose not to waste my energy. Some people are simply miserable and mentally twisted, and it shows in how they treat others -- especially how they view children. The way he looked at my son and spoke to us was disturbing, rude, and completely unacceptable. The truth is: people like this should not own businesses. If you can't treat customers with basic human decency, especially families with kids, then you don't deserve customers -- period. Even one star is a waste. This shop deserves to lose business until the owner learns a hard lesson: when you treat customers like garbage, your business will be ruined. Save yourself the frustration. Do NOT shop here.

McCoys aka Mammoth Memories is THE souvenir shop in Mammoth. Want those M mountain stickers you see…read moreon everyone cars? They got them. Want gifts and souvenirs for all your snowboarding, snow loving, friends and family? They got everything you need! I was in need of some cute souvenirs for myself and friends, so asked where would the best spot in Mammoth be. The consensus was Mammoth Memories. Located in the Mammoth lakes shopping center and town mid point it was easy to find this spot. Staff here are very nice, they leave you alone to shop but when you need anything they are very helpful and friendly. I loved this store because they had everything I could want and need. Shirts, sweaters, stickers, patches, baby clothes, home goods like cups and mugs, hats and jerseys. This shop is unmatched and I appreciated that they carried both mammoth gear and also represented June lake. All of the clothing items were soft and well made. Yes, the shop is a little pricey. I do get those complaints but it's the #1 tourist shop in town and at least the clothing is quality and soft. Just be mindful it's $$$ - for example I bought one t-shirt, a baby onesie and a handful of stickers and quickly ended up at $80+. Yikes. But I liked everything I got and it's nice to have memories of your trip so I'd still recommend this shop as it had a good variety, plenty of sizes, and staff were nice.

It's located at The Village of course very touristy but they have some cool shops here. As you Enter they have so many items you can pick from. They have from sweaters, t-shirts, socks, shot glasses you name it they have it. The store is very organized and I appreciated the help form one of the staff there i wasn't able to find my size in the clearance section and the shirt was pretty cool so she went to go look in the inventory they had and was able to find me my shirt in my size. Usually some stores will tell you that's all we have and dismiss you but she took 10 minutes exactly and found my size. Excellent customer service! The prices can be a bit higher of course but the quality of the t-shirt I got was great and it's not your typical off brand t-shirts that's shrunk after one use. The quality is there. I also scored some socks and paid regular price for first pair and got the other pair for 1 penny (win win) love me a bargain. Excellent shop!

It came with very old looking bindings and they claimed that it was all they had. Day 2 on the slopes, front binding became loose and back binding ankle strap couldn't click in. My friend was stuck on the mountain without safe equipment to get down, so she had to call ski patrol to get her down with downhill lifts. A fun blue bird day was cut short for her. When returning the gear and asking for a refund for the second day, the shop had the audacity to deny responsibility and claim that the gear was working when it was rented out and that my friend should've brought the gear back while being stuck on the mountain. They ended up offering a 5 dollar discount, when the old equipment they rented out wasn't even worth the 2 days demo price was that was charged. This shop does not belong in the ski industry. It showed zero concerns about the safety of their patrons and zero responsibility for the garbage equipment that they rented out.

Nice to find a lot of local goods and reasonably priced items. Some people like to shop while on vacation and this store in town helps to give them that option. I went in before lunch and had the store to myself. Dean the owner was there and was super nice and welcoming. He allowed me to look over the store and gave me space to do so. Once he rang me up he was so nice to chat with and made me feel appreciated as a customer. I gather 90% + of their customers are tourists so it's nice that they appreciate your business. Very enjoyable experience chatting and being helped by someone so nice. The store was clean and easy to navigate. They had a lot of stuff in here but it was spread out and organized well that I could get through each isle with ease. The range in items and gifts was awesome. From clothing, to jewelry, to kitchen wear, local dry foods, toys and souvenirs- for a small local gift shop this spot has it all. I walked away with some local huckleberry honey, a keepsake Christmas ornament and a cute cup all very reasonably priced and will remind me of my great trip to June lake. If you're in town definitely check out this gift shop, happy to have stopped in.
