I know some of the neighbors on the block already have natural gas. After numerous calls and being tossed from Long Island to Brooklyn, New York, I was told for $35,000 , national grid will run that pipe! Who the hell would spend that kind of money? Then they had the nerve to tell me to solicit my new neighbors to switch to natural gas to share the cost of $35,000! They are crazy and destined to fail.

Hofstra and Adelphi and other Universities are here or nearby. It's a very dense suburb and really an extension of NYC. In some ways it's the capital of Long Island, in other ways it's like a less intense Queens or a more dense Staten Island. My friend lives here and we've shared a lot of food here over the years. Long Island food is underrated and enjoyable but nothing compared to Queens. The police here are sometimes very aggressive and protective, but it's still a great place to explore. Hempstead has almost a million people living in it - yes, one million. It's the 2nd largest city in NY and top 20 in the whole USA, except for the fact that it's not technically a city. But that's just a technicality. This is probably why there is so much to explore, to eat, and why it feels so dense here.

Our senior clubs hold their meetings there as well as our many civic groups taking advantage of the large room and stage. The Kiwanis Club of County Seat Mineola held their annual pancake breakfast there for many years until moving to the High School. There is ample room to house hundreds as well as the stage the could be used for entertainment. There is also a small kitchen in the building. The kitchen is small but is a good staging area. Large events will need to be catered in. There was also a recent lobby and entrance renovation. Hanging on the lobby wall is the John S. DaVanzo "wall of honor" saluting the many past people who did a wonderful job shaping Mineola into the great village and community it is today. Its great to be part of a community that is so community minded.
