COVID-19 pandemic review: Signed up for my first CSA since living in San Diego because the farmer's markets are closed, and I am trying to limit my grocery store visits. I received my first box and all the fruits and veggies were vibrant and fresh! I received kale, lettuce, butternut squash, limes, oranges, tangerines, parsley, cilantro, beets, red potatoes, broccoli, celery, chard, and apples. I am really impressed. I got a small box for $30, plus $6 delivery fee and $10 annual membership fee.

We love getting our weekly box of delicious, tasty, colorful veggies and the owners are so nice and grateful for our business. Thank you, Sage Mountain Farm for taking good care of us during Covid-19.

Our family toured Sage Mountain Farm and it was one of the most joyous afternoons we've had this year! Phil and his son took me, my husband and three young boys around their farm and shared what it takes to be a sustainable organic farm. They could not have been kinder and more patient. The boys got to pick squash, pet pigs, chase dogs, wonder at the cattle, marvel at the egg laying chickens, and laugh at the loud goats. We left there with the most bountiful box of beautiful produce and fresh eggs, as well as enough grass fed beef and cuts of pork to last a while. We feel so blessed we connected with this family and with Sage Mountain Farm

The quality of the produce is fresh and tastes great for a fair price and the staff is always accommodating and friendly.

As an example, we don't live too close to the farmer's market where they typically deliver, so Phil has it delivered to our house.

It was clean kitchen well stocked. Ac worked great. Beds and pull out couch were comfortable. Cute chicken coop in the back. Patio furniture was nice. Views great. Hot tub worked well. We went across the street for riding lessons for the girls. Door dash and instacart work here which was nice. Overral worth it and we would come back. Great for families and adult get a ways. I could see this being great for a wedding or Bachelorette get a way.

I especially appreciated what seemed like local art being used throughout the entire house to tastefully decorate -- without going overboard with clutter. That was well done. But, netting out at almost $800/night increases expectations and so it probably deserves more like 3 or 3-1/2 stars. It was a 3 bedroom home and was ok -- nothing fancy or high-end. So maybe the cost was based on the size? Importantly, what we really believed we were paying extra for that would have been worth the money was the "farm stay" aspect. It may have been a house on a farm property, but it was not a "farm stay experience." The only thing that came close were the animals, but their enclosures were small, cramped, on the side of the road (which was steep and hard to walk on), and the animals did not look healthy or well taken care of. The alpaca's fur was matted up and many of the chickens had bald spots on their backs, potentially due to overcrowding, rooster overbreeding, or aggressively going after each other in such a small space for so many hens (and hopefully not from parasites). It was a side show vs. a real farm experience. Back to the house, another attraction in the listing was the hot tub -- but it had a really horrible smell. The towels we used to dry off with kept the smell too. We used it on the first day, but not afterward. It's a shame. If the hot tub issue were fixed, the property is nice enough, but I do believe it is mis-marketed. It'd probably be very appealing for a bigger group who is visiting the Temecula wine country scene, but who doesn't want to be in the middle of the fray and, instead, wants a quieter location that feels off the beaten path. It should not be marketed as a "farm stay." And the poor animals should definitely go, especially as they feel like such an after thought on the property anyhow.

FRESH FARM EGGS!!! (5 stars + meteor shower + starlinks)…read more Pasteurized eggs are the best quality. But pasture raised + fresh farm eggs; Hens that roam freely and forage, even better quality! Did you know... fresh farm eggs can sit on the counter (unrefrigerated) for up to 14 days IF the eggs have yet been refrigerated. And they are SO good. Obviously, refrigerate if they won't be consumed within the 14 days but once refrigerated they must stay refrigerated . When buying at the booth, they have not been refrigerated. Current price: $8 for 1 dozen. Expensive but quality and freshness is priceless. If you haven't had fresh farm eggs or don't know the difference, you need to refine that pallet of yours because you are missing out. Fresh as in unwashed!!! I've gone "country" in this beach city! Many times I have considered taking the drive to Ramona to the farms to hunt for some fresh eggs for my baked goods, breakfasts, and my fresh pasta noodle making. Especially when it comes to making my fresh pasta noodles from scratch I want the freshest eggs possible. Well, you don't need to drive to the farms. Their tent is available at some of the farmers markets around the county. If you see their tent, don't pass them up! Well worth $8. Some of the other food vendors at the farmers markets use their eggs as well. I had a "breakfast bowl" and they were frying up fresh eggs from Three Sons Farm. The taste of fresh eggs... I can't find the right words that deserve their compliments. Has a fresh and clean taste to them. The yolk doesn't have a harsh "yolks-ness" taste, it's lighter and creamier - if that makes sense?! The difference is in the yolk. I will take creamier over store bought any day. Ex: I make my own fresh pasta noodles from scratch. That alone, the noodles are already fresh and silky. With fresh eggs... "!!!!!" JABA APPROVED. Until the next review....

I like the free deliver, the different options in types of boxes and the option to add extra produce or treats. I chose the medium fruit/veggie combo box for myself and my husband. It is really the perfect size (possibly just a bit more than we need). I really enjoy cooking at home, especially with fresh fruits and veggies. They deliver to my area every Monday, which is perfect for planning meals for the work week. I also appreciate that they usually have some time of lettuce (kale, spinach, or a few varieties) so salad is always on the menu. They also send a news letter, and recipes a few days before in order to shop and plan meals.
