I went to Sage Hill Spa with my peers for a staff wide mental health day. I live in Austin, so it was about 20 minutes outside of town but since it was in the opposite direction of traffic I didn't mind the drive. Upon arrival, our supervisors provided us with a day pass to the spa which included, access to the grounds, trail access, pickleball access, library access, breakfast, coffee/tea, an hour long massage and a boxed lunch. We started at the pickleball courts and we were the only ones out there. The staff provided us with pickleball equipment so don't worry if you don't have any! After a few rounds, we then went to the spa to get our massage. In the massage building there were four separate rooms and a bathroom. Everything was clean and smelled amazing. A male masseuse then guided me to our room and ensured I was comfortable and asked if I had any areas I wanted to focus on. The massage was INCREDIBLE! My peers had nothing but great things to say about their experience as well. One masseuse was even experienced in pre-natal massages. The boxed lunch meal was such a delicious treat. It came with a sandwich, cookie, drink, chips and a salad. After lunch, a few of us walked some trails and sat around the fire pit. I would recommend sage hill a hundred times! This place is a hidden gem! This gorgeous boutique hotel sits between Wimberley and Kyle, Texas and offers luxurious accommodations with resort-style amenities. Every detail encourages guests to slow down, relax, and soak in the outdoors. The sunsets here are absolutely stunning! We stayed at their "Ranch House" which sleeps 7! It was extremely spacious and had a large backyard with a porch, hot tub, fire pit, and a hammock too! It was so relaxing being out in the hill country and being able to relax with our friends! We were even able to see deer right in front of our place! To add to the comfort, each person staying on the property gets a 3-course dinner and a hearty breakfast-- all included with our stay. The food was so good, and we were told it's farm-to-table! We opted to eat our dinner outside and we had the most perfect view of the sunset! There's so much to explore--I wish I could've done it all. I was only here for one night so I missed out on the Pickleball court, hiking trails, and spa. We returned 30 years (1996-2026) after our 1st Anniversary (The Inn Above Onion Creek had only been open for 1 year), stayed in the same room (Toalsen), and found our guest book comments on the book archived in the room's bookshelf!! What a sweet reunion! Grounds & library are still wonderful, trails were great, addition of pool, spa and pickleball make it a 'no need to leave' location and the service was just as friendly and fun! Super place to relax & and rejuve. Such an amazing return to celebrate, reminisce, and renew. Food was great for breakfast and dinner as well! If Yelp allowed half stars this boutique inn would have absolutely garnered a 2.5 but alas, I'll be generous and say 3. My husband booked this "staycation" for us mainly because we love bubble baths and this inn advertised casitas (think tiny houses spread out over the property) with large bathtubs. Well, fast forward to night one of our two night stay and the bath we were looking forward to was an absolute fail. The water in the tub wasn't working (apparently a storm in the area compromised a "breaker"). So, a total bust for night one's bubble bath experience. Additionally, after putting in a complaint that first night about the water not working, the inn sent a service provider to our casita at 9am the following morning (loud knocks on our door let us know someone was trying to get in - obviously, we were thankful someone was sent to look at the issue but it would have been better had the inn attempted to coordinate with our schedule instead of sending someone out at a time I'd seem fairly early when you're trying to enjoy a nice lazy morning). More on the "casita" - the property has a large home and an adjacent building with rooms while other private casitas are dotted around the property. We stayed in the mountain laurel casita and upon first glance it was nicely appointed but the more closely you looked the more issues became apparent. The biggest issue of course was our non-functioning bathtub but the other major issues included a lot of uninvited additional guests - think a lot of creepy crawler bugs. Some dead, some alive in every area. This included large nests of daddy long leg spiders above the awning of the casita entrance which always brought about a lot of concern when entering and exiting the space. The room did have a double sided fireplace that was nice and allowed for a good ambiance. Lots of outdoor seating if you wanted to really get close to the land and its creepy crawly inhabitants. Another disappointment considering the per night price is that the casitas/rooms are not serviced daily (a note says they can be serviced upon request). Again, for the cost of spaces per night it seems that having the bed made/space tidied up should be a given. Our casita also had a mini fridge with complimentary beverages (non alcoholic - some water and cokes). A coffee maker was also equipped with coffee for a morning sip. Breakfast was included but it was lackluster. Guests were provided a carb/sugar loaded continental spread (fruit, breads, butter, jam, sugar bombs aka cinnamon buns, coffee) and could have an actual breakfast for a $15 flat fee per dish (not worth the money). The grounds included a library for guests, a pool/hot tub, a really nice pickleball court (apparently, a pickball professional is available for private and group lessons - guests can also borrow equipment to use if desired). The pool/hot tub was OK - they both needed a vacuum as a lot of debris was in both (the double edged sword of a large tree near both that provided shade but also contributed to the debris in the pool). Guests had complimentary water available to them at the pool along with chairs, loungers and towels. We opted into a massage onsite - the massage house was nicely appointed and very clean. This was definitely the highlight of the stay - the providers were very kind and both of us thoroughly enjoyed the massages we received. Hiking paths and walking sticks are also available on site. The grounds are lovely with lots of wildflowers around. Overall, this boutique inn could be a good option if you're looking for a hill country getaway but they have to go back to basics to offer a 5* experience for guests. Better breakfast items, clean, bug-free spaces, and functioning bathtubs are a must for the per night price they charge. (Of note - upon check out we were offered a $150 refund because of our bathtub issues - this was appreciated but also expected as guests should have fully-functional rooms when staying onsite). read more

If you want girls get away retreat this is the place! We stayed in the Live Oaks Cottage and had peace and tranquility our whole stay. The amenities are ideal; Garden Spa with the best massage therapists; porches with rocking chairs to enjoy surrounding views; a pretty pool area with game area; and for a complete package delicious breakfast and dinner. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The staff here was very friendly and responsive. The massages at the spa were great. The restaurant was ok; we enjoyed the dinners but the breakfast wasn't that great. Aside from the carb heavy breakfast offered, my husband and I both ordered eggs which clearly came from a warming drawer and were not good. In terms of the accommodations, we stayed in a casita and were disappointed with the condition of the casita. We watched a movie in the living room the first evening we were there and as I looked towards the bedroom I could clearly see a line of thick dust right at the edges of the bed. I then looked back at the tv and saw a thick line of dust under the tv. I told the front desk about this and they quickly corrected it, but it showed complete laziness from a housecleaning perspective. As the weekend wore on, we found cleaning issues everywhere, including spiderwebs in the shower and above the door, dust on the blinds, a dead bug in the bathroom, and dust bunnies in various places. The baseboards were very dirty and the paint throughout the casita was patched in multiple places. If sage hill put a little money into the casita to repaint it, clean and/or repaint the baseboards and trim inside and get a cleaning crew that actually cleans, this would be a much better accommodation. As it stands, this place is not worth the money and we will not be back nor would we recommend this place to anyone else. read more

Great experience. We stayed three nights in the Nance Suite. It was everything advertised. Lots of room, scenic views on three sides. The (included) continental breakfast was adequate. Dinners (included) were fantastic. Wine in the dining room was reasonably priced. Didn't use pickleball courts or the pool/hot tub. Thinking trails were great. I chose Sage Hill Inn and Spa as a weekend getaway in finding my mojo. Sadly, my stay at Sage Hill did not help in quest. Nina called 4hrs prior to my arrival stating the Wallace Room was ready for me and to ask about my dinner choice. I submitted my dinner request for each night Wednesday but it was not received (although Google Forms sent confirmation of what was sent). The Wallace Room is on the 2nd floor. Upon entering, there is a staircase to get to actual room (3 flights of stairs). The first thing I noticed in the Wallace Room was the dirty tub. I chose room partially because of the whirlpool tub. I also had issues with the "rustic" front door. The deadbolt would not turn leaving me uneasy the entire night. I'm sure the cracks in the front door helped mosquito visitor in with ease. Overnight I discovered issues with the heater (front desk closed) so I froze entire night. The temperature went from 65 to 62 the following morning. I spoke with Caroline just after 8AM advising of heat issues. After assuring Caroline I had turned on heat (sigh), we agreed maintenance would have a look during my 3.5hr spa services as well as housekeeping clean tub. When I returned to my unlocked front door, I saw the thermostat read 61. I then read text from Caroline stating maintenance confirmed heat blowing from vent but, because of high ceilings, not warming up room. Maintenance increased fan speed to help (something I did night before). Housekeeping also informed her tub was not dirty just stained so no cleaning completed. Caroline did offer two rooms which she checked were warm. I gladly accepted the Hays room. Upon picking up lunch provided with spa services, Eric apologized for mishap and told me to call when I'm ready to move to other room so he could help with luggage. My plan was to eat, gather things and move to other room afterwards. I returned to Wallace Room only for the water to be off. Front office alerted of water issues throughout property 20mins prior as they were working on it but failed to mention when we spoke just minutes before. Odd and frustrating. Caroline helped getting luggage over to Hays Room (another building on 2nd floor). We also stopped by the kitchen to get utensils for my lunch as eating sandwich with unwashed hands was a bit troubling. Caroline did offer hand sanitizer (declined as had my own and nothing like soap/water before eating). At 4:15PM, Eric stated plumber was leaving property and water should be back on in 5mins. 3hrs after my spa session, I immediately showered only to notice the abundance of dead ladybugs. It was at that moment that I decided this place was not for me (housekeeping obviously does not clean). After relaxing for a bit, I called the office to arrange dinner to be delivered. At 7pm, I began to worry so called office and followed up with a text. Eric delivered my food and apologized for the delay. I told Eric of my plans to checkout a day early which he stated would not be a problem and apologized for everything. He also mentioned my credit card on file has been credited and not to worry about "any of this". I wasn't sure what "credit" or "any of this" meant. I just wanted to go home. I also spoke with Caroline Saturday night to reiterate my plan to checkout Sunday morning and get a rundown on their checkout procedure which I was told to just leave key in room. Sunday evening I received a call from the office asking if I would be dining with them. Whoever called apologized, mentioned credit from Eric and stated everything would be reviewed Monday. That statement had me confused as nothing to review as maintenance noted heating issue and obvious water issues which caused me to cut trip short. The only good part of my stay was the spa services and food. Shawn did a fantastic job with my scrub, massage, facial and wrap. The Garden Spa has a few private rooms along with a bathroom and shower. After my scrub, I showered, grabbed robe and slippers provided to continue the remainder of services. The food at Sage Hill is also surprisingly good. I won't return or recommend Sage Hill. read more

Wow wow wow....went for only one night with my husband and another couple. Stayed at the Live Oak cottage, and it was absolutely great. If you like seclusion, this is your place. We took a nice hike when we arrived, walked the grounds. We had a 3 course meal with our stay as well as a complimentary continental breakfast (you can also order off of their menu). They offered free water around the grounds...it was hot and humid outside. We played washers, swam (only one other couple their), sat on the porch, and watched the sun set and played pickle ball. Enjoyed our fantastic cottage. It was big enough for 2 couples with a small kitchen, fireplace, and plenty of outdoor sitting or relaxing. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Before we left, we were thinking of when we can come back. If you want a romantic getaway or a place to really relax this is it. What a lovely inn one mile off the main road in Kyle. The grounds are serene and lovely. The staff are welcoming and friendly! We felt very well taken care of. We enjoyed a one night stay in the Juniper Cottage. What a beautiful place. The cottage a very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen was equipped with cold drinks in the refrigerator and a nespresso coffee maker. We enjoyed the refreshing pool before dinner. Our meal consisted of fresh bread with oil and vinegar, pork chop, roasted vegetables, shrimp and bacon cheddar grits, mashed sweet potatoes, and quinoa. For dessert we enjoyed the cheese cake and berry crisp. High compliments to Alex, the chef! You should ask to sit at Ethan's table for 5 star service! There are many fire pits and benches around the grounds, which we enjoyed after dinner also. The next day after a morning walk along their many hiking trails, we had their continental breakfast which was a buffet of various breads, pastries, fruits, jams, cheeses, vegetables and granola. Hot meals can be ordered for additional cost. We did not use their spa services but the menu of services sounded wonderful. Also check out their pickle ball courts! Let's start by the absolute beauty and isolation that you have just by being at the Inn itself. We came for our 21yr wedding anniversary and decided on Sage Hill mainly for the qualities mentioned above. We were delighted when we were called a full two hours before check-in time of 3pm to let us know our room was actually ready and we were welcome to come. Upon arriving we were greeted by Aric-the operations manger and given a thorough tour of the property that came with a wonderful explanation of all the amenities and how the meals worked. We chose the Wallace room on the third floor (yes the third floor ) because of the view and whirlpool tub that was allotted the spectacular view. When we got up to our room we were greeted by two massive chocolate covered strawberries and a sweet sign that welcomed us and acknowledged our anniversary which was delicious and made even better because of them being complementary. Dinner each night was served in the dinning area with a beautiful fire place and each meal was delicious, our only complaint here was the amount of food we received was not substantial enough but the meals came with the room reservation. Aric was super accommodating and wonderful the entire three days we were at the Inn. We both had massages while we were there and they were amazing and super professional. We can't wait to go back to the Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing getaway. read more

I planned a spa day here for my birthday after deciding against staying at the property overnight. We booked a spa day which includes a massage, lunch and access to the property/amenities for the day. Now keep in mind this is a small property and not your typical Spa type experience. The only thing spa like was a small separate building where there were offices for workers to provide services, no extra services/pools included in the spa. When we arrived there were no staff to greet us, one arrived about 10-15 minutes after parking. They did not have record of the spa services we booked so there was confusion about that which wasn't horrible but not ideal, we had to wait another 30 minutes to start our massages. No problem we thought, we will just go to the pool. The pool clearly had an algae problem and the whole thing was green - albeit a couple of people still swimming in it. When we asked staff about why the pool was full of algae and not clean we got the response of "Oh well we had to deal with something else yesterday that wasn't planned so we didn't actually clean the pool." The day we booked as a weekend day in the middle of summer which is tourist high season. I didn't understand what their other problem had to do with the pool not being cleaned and they just said "well you have access to the rest of the property the whole day too." Um, it's 110 degrees outside so your lovely trails and outdoor dead garden are not selling points. The pool was the only saving grace and it was was not clean to the point I didn't feel comfortable swimming in it. The lunch was nothing more or better that you couldn't find at a convenient store deli section. Spa services were okay, no real complaints other than it wasn't really a spa, just a building with some rooms to do massages in. I will not be back and spend money elsewhere on a "spa experience" and hopefully a clean pool. read more

My best friend and I spent Mother's Day weekend here. This was by far one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weekends I have ever had. The resort is beautiful! My friend stayed in the Hays Room which had fantastic views and beautiful amenities. I stated in Red Oak cottage. I loved the room, but wasn't used to so much light. I sleep in a very dark room. This room had so many windows it was difficult to keep the morning sun out. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem for most, but I will book a different room for my next stay. The food was fantastic. After dinner, my friend and I walked to the fire pit way night and watched the deer and wildlife go by at sunset. It was an amazing experience. The spa experience there was one of the best I have ever had. Poy is amazing. Her magic hands had me drooling and falling asleep several times. I would strongly recommend her! The only minor negative I had was that it was difficult to reach a staff member on the phone and sometimes in person. I can say that is you leave a voicemail, staff return your call quickly and work to make sure you are satisfied. We loved our stay here and have already booked rooms for next year. read more

I went to the spa on Sunday. Although the massage and facial were relaxing this is where the experience ended. After the treatment a shower was not offered and I was immediately escorted to the front desk. After paying I had to ask for the lunch that was included. I was told I could take it to go or sit anywhere I wanted. I had never been here before and the staff was less than helpful. After being pointed to the outdoor area I chose to sit outside and eat my lunch. I was not offered a nap of the property to explore and frankly I was tired of asking. I am a tiny bit biased because my fiancé and I got engaged here, but the Sage Hill Inn was lovely. We stayed in Thelma's Loft and found it to be a very easy walk to the Inn, even in the dark. The Loft had a really comfortable bed and a powerful heater for those chilly evenings! The Inn served dinner and breakfast every day. The duck tostada and chicken were absolutely incredible, and service was so warm that I had to stop myself from having longer conversations with the waitstaff. The coffee was also incredible. We also got massages in the spa, which was pure serenity. What makes the Sage Hill Inn special is the little touches. From the great tour we got when we checked in, to the coolers of water placed around the grounds, to the fire pits strewn about, you're sure to have an absolutely lovely time. One tip - if you are a hiker, the trails on the grounds can be a tad bit confusing and a little unmaintained. Wear your long pants! read more

Gazing out the window with champagne across the country side. Tour of the garden, firepit, animals, and the list goes on. The food is legit farm to table. Like the food is outside minding its business, and then it ends up on your plate. You can taste the freshness. We love this place. This place was absolute heaven. For our 6th Anniversary the hubs and I decided to really celebrate. Enter SHIAOC. We arrived midafternoon to be greeted warmly by a staff member. The grounds were beautiful and our room was perfect for us (Kyle Room). The food each day seemed to be better than the day before. I really enjoyed the amazing breakfasts with really good coffee. The hubs and I spent most of our time just lounging around. One glorious morning I even laid in the hammock for two hours and read. That is perfection for me. They've got a game room with tons of games and books that can be borrowed. The hubby and I like to play a mean game of dominoes. They don't serve alcohol at SHIAOC, so you'll need to bring your own. I was fine with that. We probably saved a lot of money bringing our own wine to dinner each night. I can't wait to go back. read more

Loved my stay, sad that a couples message was not allowed even though I am married and the two people massaging us were also married, the couples massages should be allowed. My room had expired creamer and when I asked for new creamer I was told it was all expired. When housekeeping came to My room it would have been nice to have some fresh milk delivered to my fridge. Also regular water would have been nice instead of sparkling. But it was so kinda of you all to have the sparkling water and soda in the fridge. The view was amazing, loved the delicious food. Especially the tuna steak. I would have liked to have different options for my Saturday night meal though. Oh man, after losing a close family member to Covid and having to postpone our wedding for a year, we really needed to find a place to get away and recharge. Nervous about the current state of things, we called Sage Hill, told them of our situation, and they assured us that we would be well taken care of. We were told they would not have anyone service the rooms unless we explicitly asked and even told us they were limiting occupancy and no one would be in the room next to us. Excited, we booked. The first night we went through the spa menu, picking out what treatments we would get on our hopefully annual trip. Well, apparently what they told us were both complete lies. The next day a couple cheerfully rolled their suitcases into the room next to us. Ok, fine. Saturday we came back to our room to find someone had been in it, halfway 'cleaning' and moving our personal items. We called to ask about this. No apology. Nothing. I mean, if they hadn't told us these things were definitely not going to happen it wouldn't be such a big deal. It's the fact they lied. Now we are currently waiting on the breakfast they simply forgot to deliver to us this morning. Nice property. 1 star service. Between the anxiety attack I had and the fact that I'm hungry this morning, we definitely won't be returning. Update: for as expensive as this place is, and the fact that they forgot our breakfast, was kind of hoping for something other than the bottom part of a bagel. read more

Just got back from an amazing girl's weekend at the Sage Hill Inn and Spa!!! From the moment we arrived everybody made sure our stay was exceptional! We stayed in the Schlemmer room (2 queen beds)...this room was in the main building and so cute...there are also options on the property for larger accommodations. Eric helped check us in and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect! We also had amazing spa services with Rebecca and Poi! The best massage I've had!!!! In my opinion this property is perfect for most everyone....if you want to escape the city you can stay on property and relax with spa services, beautiful pool, hiking, star gazing and laughing around the fire pit. If you want to shop you're a short drive to the outlet mall or a little further is the music and entertainment of Gruene. I highly recommend this Inn!!! read more

We came for our 28th anniversary. We try a different B&B every year, but our stay here may convince us to change our mind and just keep returning. Everyone was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating when I made reservations. Planning ahead a bit definitely makes it easier - I called a few weeks before our stay and they were able to accommodate all of my request. The long winding drive to the lodge sets the stage for a unique and wonderful facility. The roses and chocolate covered strawberries I'd ordered for my wife were in the room when we arrived. Dinner the first night was fantastic - very tasty and filling. Most of the vegetable and spices are grown on-site in the garden. Our room was perfect. We stayed in the Michaelis room which is a second story room. The private balcony overlooking the hill country was great and the rocking chairs made for a relaxing late night. The bed was superb - the down cover would keep you warm in the artic! Very comfortable. The gas fireplace in the living area was a very nice touch. The very large whirlpool tub was great and the shower was nice as well. All the little things were thought of by the inn keepers - the cd player/stereo was nice. The tv w/satelite and DVD player are tucked into the armoir and are perfectly viewable from the comfort of the bed. We opted to have our breakfasts brought to our room both mornings and our food arrived hot and fresh within ten minutes after we called the office. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. The first day was Belgian waffles with home canned peaches, scrambled eggs and sausage - all tasty and filling. Our second breakfast was jalapeño sausage, quiche, biscuits and homemade raspberry jam, and cooked cracked wheat with fruit - again very tasty and filling. I arranged for our second dinner to be a private dinner in the library, which was great - fireplace burning was a nice touch. The steak and rolls were very good, although we didn't care for the greens. Our couples' massage Saturday afternoon was great and very easy to book (again, I booked the time a few weeks early). A very nice touch. The Inn is designed so that if you don't want to come out of your room for the weekend, you'll have a great weekend. If you want to stay on the property you'll have a great time - the view from the porch by the dining room was also great and there are plenty of rocking chairs. There are also several walking trails which we will explore next time (it rained all weekend). Nearby is Wimberly or, a bit further but not too far, Austin. Bottom line - great Inn; great service and amenities, great location, great scenery and great room!! read more

This place is awesome!! This has been the second time my girlfriend and I have come here, and their service is always top notch!!! We drove in from Houston and we're going to be late.. they left the fireplace on for us and dinner in the room! They truly know how to make you feel special during your getaway. We were treated great the last time we were here and this time around, and we definitely plan on coming back every time we come to the hill country for some R&R! My wife and I chose this place to go stay at Sage Hill for our honeymoon instead of our cruise due to Covid. On our drive there, we were told someone would call us and let us know the new check in procedures...no one called, we were probably an hour away so we tried to call 3 or 4 times and no one answered so my wife sent them an email and they called us back in response to the email...not the phone calls. We arrived and we were still very confused so we asked the front and directed us to our room (Nance Suite). The room was very nice. Beautiful bathtub and scenery. Because of Covid-19, we optioned to have our meals from hotel restaurant delivered (We chose our breakfast and dinner meals a couple days before we left). We arrived around 4:30 and dinner was suppose to be delivered to our room in between 5:30-6:30..it was 7 and we still didn't have our dinner. We tried to call front desk multiple times, no one answered. I had to go downstairs and ask, they finally brought it up around 7:30 and forgot our desert, tried to call and again, no answer. The next day, we spent the day out of town. When we got back around 3:00 we hung out in the room for a while until dinner (It was delivered on time). I had left the room to grab some water bottles and when I tried to get back in the room, the door was stuck and jammed. When I asked the front desk for help they said that that specific door gets tricky...in my opinion that shouldn't be something paying guests should have to deal with. Luckily, there is a side door to the room but it was on the other side of the building and had to go up another round of stairs. They fixed the door the next day (Temporary fix if you ask me). There were several instances where we went to ask the person at front desk for something and there was no one there, had to have one of the waiters go find someone and they had to tell another person then another...I understand it's Covid times but come on. But, the food was awesome! They had a chicken coup so we had fresh eggs in the morning. A vegetable garden so fresh veggies at dinner. We chose this place because the reviews were good and some friends of ours enjoyed their stay there a few years back. But was really let down on service. If Covid wasn't going around I'm sure it would've been different but we still payed a lot of $$$ to stay there and customer service goes a long way. 3 starts read more

An epic, ultimate, beautiful destination to unwind, relax, and generally take some time off from the world. I booked here on a lark because I had an extra day before SXSW (it's far enough away from Austin not to jack up the prices) and a suite was open. Had no idea that an excellent chef-prepared _dinner_ was included, not just the breakfast. In every possible way they go the extra mile for the guest. I had a discussion with the proprietor, who mentioned she had been in big hotel hospitality for a decade or two -- no wonder they know what they're doing here. Everything here, from the furnishing to the lighting, toiletries, services, decoration, food, is solid. The grounds are pleasant and rustic, just on the border of hill country so rolling hills and a creek. Some big trees. The grounds like like a late 1800s frontier mansion, and furnished with rustic (but clean and solid) antiques -- but the buildings are actually fairly new. There's a vegetable garden and plenty of places for a nice stroll and exploration for kids and adults. A sweet getaway. read more

Oasis. Heaven. Treasure. Another world. Diamond. How we found this place was a fluke, but I'm so glad we stumbled upon it. Romantic doesn't even begin to explain how this place makes you feel. Even though there were other guests, it felt like we were alone. So private, and peaceful. The grounds are just breathtaking. The room (Porter room) was spacious and immaculate. That tub....ridiculously amazing. And that bed...a cloud of marshmallow heaven. The food was ok, and their produce was the freshest I've had. I wasn't focused on the food as much, but knowing it was there if we needed to eat was very comforting. We did the Grapes & olives tour as well. Very nice! Lunch at trattoria lisina was amazing (if willing to leave the inn)! All in all...just a perfect weekend, perfect gem of an inn, perfect location. read more

"Affordable luxury" is used quite a bit on the website to describe the experience at Inn Above Onion Creek. When you take a look at the room rates, you'll quickly realize that it commands some luxury prices. The "affordable" spin in my mind is that they provide a hot breakfast AND a 3 course dinner. If you do the math in your head for the cost per meal per person and nightly room rate, the rates are a bit more reasonable, but your wallet will still feel considerably lighter by the end of the stay. The grounds are quite handsome. The winding 1 mile road into the property is a nice way to shed yourself from the busy lifestyle you just escaped from. We stayed in the Nance Suite, which is a cozy, yet spacious top floor room with tons of windows. The decorations are whimsical and Texas chic. Don't expect leather seats and stuffed animal heads in this room. The whirlpool bath has a commanding view of the hill country and the king size bed is incredibly comfortable. If you wanted to stay cocooned in your suite and never leave the grounds it's certainly possible here. Breakfast and dinner is served out of the kitchen. Meals on the most part were a very average 3 star in my opinion. I have to agree with Georgette that for all of its fanfare I was expecting a bit more whiz bang out of our meals. Had the meals been higher caliber I certainly would have felt that the high prices for a stay at the inn were more justified. Still, there were some highlights. I was addicted to their peach ice tea and Reese's peanut butter cookies. After a cool, refreshing dip in their swimming pool with a fantastic view of the hill country, the iced tea hit the spot. No doubt everyone was friendly and accommodating. Booking a massage at the on-site spa was a challenge, but I guess it was partially our fault for waiting until our stay to book a reservation. I could certainly be convinced to come back and stay here, especially in the colder months when you could enjoy a hearty Merlot in front of a fire. But, I would still want to see some upgraded food coming out of the kitchen to feel ok paying the higher than normal B&B rates. read more

Ultimate Hill Country bed and breakfast (and dinner), just a 30 minute drive from Austin. The property is well appointed and no detail is overlooked. The owners and staff really make you feel at home. You can help yourself to the kitchen if you need anything at all. The rooms are also very well done- just wait until you see the bathrooms! Breakfast and Dinner are included in the price of the room. Both meals were excellent. Hot breakfasts included french toast and eggs benedict. If you are going in the summertime, the pool is where you'll want to be if you are staying on the property during the day. Other bonuses: Delicious cookies and drinks are left out 24/7 in case you get the munchies or the thirsties. At dusk, you can watch the bats zooming around over head. This place is amazing. The rooms are very clean with a rustic feel. All of the food is amazing. The staff are all super nice and accommodating. The massage and facial were the best I've ever had. Walking trails down to the creek are beautiful. My friends and I are definitely coming back. We've already decided this will be our annual girls trip destination. read more

A Magical Place for A Magical Event! Sherri and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary and were trying to find a place not too far out of Austin... but a World away! We stumbled upon Inn Above Onion Creek's website and were lucky that they had 1 room left, The Kuykendahl. And boy were we lucky! Upon checking in, Amy, Don and the entire staff could not be friendlier. They helped us to our Suite, showed us the grounds, and basically have us access to the entire place! What was truly special was the way they accommodated our dietary needs, and prepared us special gluten and dairy free meals. The Kuykendahl Suite is to die for. It's a 2 story, with front and back balconies overlooking the magnificent Hill Country. Everything is completely first class... but the topper is the Master Bath. Undoubtedly, the coolest, richest we have ever seen! A HUGE 2 person Jacuzzi in front of a picture window with the Hill Country beyond, and shower that could comfortably handle 6 (but we kept it to just the two of us)! Dinner was delicious. The camaraderie with other guests was wonderful, and the entire evening couldn't have been better. Thank you IAOC for making our 25th Anniversary as perfect as we always imagined! read more
