I initiated care due a pain developing on my right lower molar. This pain worried me because I had vacation coming up at the end of the month. I was seen promptly but was told they couldn't repair my molar pain. Instead, they advised for two fillings on my left molars. I was seen the next week and in and out the door with a new filling. Now here it comes, I was in constant pain once the Novocain wore out. I tried getting an appointment for that Monday but the soonest appointment was Friday. So I waited in pain for about a week, only to be told at the appointment this is "normal." No it's not. After they saw my frustration they agreed to shave down the filling and sent me on my way. Still in pain, I called again within the next 48 hours to help alleviate my pain - with the nearest appointment another week away. I sat in the chair only to be told again "this pain is normal" by Dr. Baco. I about lost it. So, now I'm trying to find an emergency endodontist before I leave for vacation for 10 days with severe tooth pain. Long story short, I came out worse than when I went in. Today marked my new patient appointment at Sage Dental due to my previous provider no longer accepting my dental insurance. Despite having switched to a new dental plan, which won't be active until January, I thought, "Why not make the most of my benefits?" So, I booked an appointment at Sage Dental, fueled by my eagerness to ensure everything was in order. Being a regular at the dentist, I genuinely missed these visits. Upon entering the facility, the receptionist informed me that my co-pay would be $25, presenting a paper indicating a typical cost of around $400, now reduced to $25 with insurance. This struck me as odd since I've never encountered such a fee before. Despite my reservations, I proceeded with the payment. After a brief wait, I was ushered in for my appointment, only to be told that X-rays were necessary. The X-ray process took an unexpectedly long time, and the assistant conducting it seemed unsure of what she was doing. Understanding that everyone starts somewhere, I let it slide. After enduring the X-rays, the dentist entered with a negative demeanor, making statements that were later retracted after I explained my regular dental visits and the insurance change. Subsequently, the receptionist returned, this time with an iPad, quoting a charge of $78 for a cleaning. This revelation left me outraged, as cleanings have consistently been covered by my insurance. When I contested this, she hastily retracted the statement, attributing the charge to vaguely defined "treatments." In conclusion, I am disheartened and disgusted by what appears to be the exploitation of patients who are unfamiliar with their insurance benefits. While I understand the need for a dental practice to offer additional services, transparency and professionalism in communication are non-negotiable. If they want to sell something, it should be clearly stated when informing patients. They need to be more professional and kind in their approach. I'm just grateful that I questioned everything and knew my benefits; otherwise, I would have paid $103 today for services that should have been covered. I share this review as a warning to others. I went back for more work and they used my "vision " insurance instead of letting me know, because of this I owe double money to my insurances. I was not told of this . The main reason for 0 stars is the abhorrent lack of professionalism of the dentist working there Karen hernandez not only did she fail to ask me questions about symptoms related to my concerns and tell me I need " antibiotics " and walked away. When I returned bc my wisdom tooth literally broke out of my mouth , she tried to personally attack me for explaining her lack of bedside manner is what led to the delay in my care. She asked me why my mom ( who had recommended me to the office ) complained about the service I received and asked me how old I am trying to insinuate I was in immature or in the wrongs When I went back in to settle a bill - completely unrelated to her- she made it a point to turn around and tell my dad to stop talking. He is elderly 73 yo and was not addressing her at all. Her bedside manner is beyond disgusting and reading reviews here and on yelp give credit to my claims. Secondly - though the front desk is extremely nice and courteous- they probably are the reason the office survives but the billing strategy is a huge scheme and borderline fraudulent in practice. They show you a bill of what you owe " after insurance". They take a huge deposit to hold your spot for procedure but really they basically claim ur " insurance underpaid" and keep the whole deposit ( in my case 500$). First off my mother is a survivor and to come here and be told she's losing bone, needs a deep cleaning, and a tooth extraction. All for $1400 WITH insurance. Thank God I read the previous reviews and called my mother right away to stop her from doing any further procedure(they did take xrays). Not only that but I believe things happen for a reason because my stepfather actually ran into my mothers old dentist. He told my mother what was going and her dentist (who no longer takes my mother's insurance) to come to his office ASAP! My mother goes there only to find out she is Not losing bone, her teeth are all strong but she did need a tooth extraction that he could do today for a little under $100! So screw this office for giving my mother a stress attack that I almost had to leave my job for! Unethical business practice. I'm sure Dr. Karen Cruz knows about this and has done nothing therefore she is just as unethical as this office. Office claimed Dr.Cruz was in network in January; insurance confirmed she joined March 12. They refuse to deliver my son's crown without payment. I took my son to this office in January 2020 for a crown. We were told that his insurance was accepted and that Dr. Karen Cruz was on the Delta Dental PPO Network. It is now almost June 2020 and my son still has a temporary tooth in his mouth. They refuse to deliver his crown because our insurance has not paid them yet and want us to pay cash. I spoke to a rep from our insurance and she said Dr. Cruz joined the network on March 12, 2020 which means we were lied to in January when we first came in. We have already paid our deposit and Co-pay, our part as agreed, and they will not deliver my son's crown. Our insurance said they cannot submit a claim until the job is completed and they have not completed the job. Now my insurance won't cover any claims from before the doctor became in network in March. In the meantime he has a temporary tooth in mouth for months and they refuse to deliver without payment from insurance. This is outrageous and highly unethical. I have contacted this business many times since January and they are dismissive and refuse to do anything about it. read more

From the front desk to the hygienist to the doctor everyone answered all my questions and was very upfront about the pricing and what I needed to do to keep my oral health up. If I can give this place a -10, I would. I had to switch dentist for my daughter and ended up here without reading reviews. She was long overdue for a cleaning. They told her she had 4 cavities. She brushes twice a day and has a great diet. The bill after insurance payment was going to be $300 for 4 filings. The entire amount being billed to the insurance was over $1,200. Without a cleaning. Oh and if she wanted a cleaning, we had to come back. Why? So they can bill another consultation. RIDICULOUS. Even still I was all in until my friend went for a checkup that same day and they were charging him $1,100 for a cleaning and $800 for a mouth guard. Of course, in another appt. I went in for a consult the front desk said my visit is covered by my insurance including the X-rays. I paid my copay and she said that is all I would have to pay. After an X-rays & assessment--I was told my insurance won't cover a crown (it's clearly listed as covered in my policy)--as they tried to make me pay out of pocket for the crown. They kept trying, showing me how much I'd save (major fake up-sell effort) I insisted they contact my insurance company and get the procedure approved. Very,very stressful dealing with their sales pressure. A temp tooth was placed on which kept falling off--each time I went in to get glued back on the pain was intense. I questioned why the pain...maybe a tooth is cracked? maybe a root canal is needed before permanent crown is placed? They answered "no crack" & "no, we're just going to put crown on despite pain". I was charged for the recurrent visits to glue temp crown on. I never let them put permanent crown on (which my insurance did pay for) because the pain was so bad, I went to another dentist, who showed me the very obvious crack, and pulled the tooth-it was not salvageable at all, and should have been pulled months earlier--but Sage wanted to bill for much more. I've been going to this office for the last year and have always had an okay experience. The dentist asked if I go every 6 months and when I told her I do she asked the hygienist to confirm... Whenever I go the hygienists and other staff will try to oversell me products. The entire time is just them shoving a tooth brush they sell or a rinse down my throat. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and was very glad that I did. I should have done this a very large long time ago. I am so happy that I found Sage Dental of West Kendall. The dentist and all her staff are very professional and they treat every patient with so much care . They are so accommodating. I scheduled my dental appointments within weeks or days. I am thrilled that they are open on Fridays too! Now all my family goes to see Dr Gonzalez she is so nice and her assistant it's super! They offer the new patients special for $49.00 & with cleaning is $69. They also offer the VIP dental discount for patients who don't have dental insurance. This place is the absolute worst. I have always paid my copays BEFORE I leave. All of a sudden I have received 5 different bills with 2 different prices 35$ and 140$. I called my insurance for three different occasions with this office. My insurance customer representative advised the office that they were making up random codes that don't even exist. Alejandra at the front desk argued with the insurance rep and tried to cover up for this office and their fraudulent scams. The insurance representative actually advised me to find another dentist that was honest because clearly these people were doing tons of crazy things. I put in a grievance with my insurance company after they quoted my husband 3,000 for a cleaning and a root canal however he has insurance with my department. They said it was a "special" and he would received a free electrical tooth brush which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. The pricing does not add up. Its like they choose a random number out of a hat and charge you that number. My 5 year old daughter got a filling and they are charging me $140 for it because they didn't send the pre authorization form to my insurance for using a periodontist instead of the general dentist!!!!! Went to this dentist office because of the positive reviews but if I could give negative stars I would. I went in for a deep cleaning ONLY on Friday at 4pm and 3 hours later I end up in the ER for over 8 hours because of the sub-par work performed. When I was done with my "cleaning" I was informed by their dental hygienist Maria Germaine that I would bleed "a little" Needless to say as the pictures show it WAS NOT a little. The ER staff thought I had a tooth extracted which i didn't and were baffled at how a deep cleaning leads to the amount of blood I was losing. I have a clean medical history. The trauma from this place is unspeakable. When I returned to the office Monday to speak with the office manager the dental hygienist had the nerve to say"Well I told you, you would bleed a little" She was so dismissive and insensitive to my injury. I spoke with the dentist and the office manager and they showed a little more empathy when I showed them all the pictures of my injury. I DO NOT recommend this location for anyone.
