    Duck pear cannelloni
    Anita C.

Pretty impressed. Mostly by the mussels. There were quite a bit served on the plate! The spicy potatoes were delicious as well, crispy and soft at the same time. The duck pear cannelloni was very good too, I quite liked it, it tasted very homey and comforting.

Paella, which is not listed on the menu. The best ever!

5 of us Californians traveled to Spain. On day 5, exhausted after non-stop walking and minimal sleep, we stumbled to Sagarra on a recommendation by a good friend of mine. We were craving paella. To our disappointment, the menu on the window only offered tapas. We started to walk away dejectedly when suddenly the only Spanish-speaking person in our group turned around and went inside. After about a minute, he popped out of the door yelling, "They'll make paella for us!" It. Was. The. Best. Paella. Ever! Flavor - BOOM! Creamy but not greasy. Every scoop had a ton of seafood - squid, baby octopus, mussels, clams, shrimp, and enormous prawns. The male server, who spoke good English, was super-friendly and guaranteed that our order would feed 5 starving people. It did. Easily. He also recommended a great wine (12 Linajes). The other server on the floor, a female, was also very helpful when two of us had to find an ATM. She didn't speak much English, so she walked us outside to the street and pointed us in the right direction. We didn't get preferential treatment. It's just that, for some reason, paella is not listed on the menu. Our server told us that theirs is the best in town. He was not kidding! The restaurant is easy to find. It's on the corner of a fairly busy street. It's clean and spacious. Even though it was busy, it was easy to find a table. It was a far and painful trek from our rental apartment, but it was so worth it! Go to Sagarra!

    seafood fideua - yummy!!

I love Sagarra for their Menu del Dia! My favorite neighborhood spot for Spanish food, with the sweetest waitresses, too. My favorite was their seafood fideua, which is pictured here; I loved it so much that I'd get it for both courses of my menu del dia (very reasonably priced I might add!) I love the chill, local vibe of this place and highly recommend for anyone looking for a place off the beaten path but still very centrally located to Plaça Catalunya and La Rambla. Great spot!!

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

Cute place, nicely decorated- has great seating places to hang out. Staff welcoming and efficient. Food was great- needed a healthy meal- and we got it. We got the fattoush salad: was refreshing Mixed grill- had a kebab, grilled chicken, grilled beef (or lamb maybe- whatever it was, was good), and a lamb chop. Served on the classic thin bread with a side of grilled potato, onion, pepper! It was everything I needed it to be- all the meat was tender, flavorful and moist. Was also the perfect amount for 2- and we finished everything!

Both my son and I are very picky about Lebanese food having been spoiled by the excellent Lebanese in our home town Los Angeles, so we ordered with trepidation. The very first must-try dish immediately set our minds at ease: please, do yourselves a favor and order their Fatoush salad. It's done so right, juicy tangy, bursting with flavors and the pita in the salad is made into a curly flower and gives a delicious crunch. We liked the dish of garbanzo and yogurt a bit less, as it was quite heavy and lacked flavor. My son was very pleased with shish tavouk with chicken, and I loved my halloumi dish. The service was slow (as everywhere in Barcelona) but it was efficient, and our Egyptian waiter had good recommendations for everything. He was funny and personable.
