Fries are definitely not part of the restaurant's special cuisine. The other extras are of medium quality, some are worse. Even the ketchup is of poor quality. If this is your first encounter with Persian/Iranian cuisine don't be too disappointed. If you find the right place Persian/Iranian food can be quite tasty.

The Mahicheh (lamb chop) was absolutely tender and very delicious. They serve two types of rice, one with saffron and mulberries, the other with carrots and raisins - both done nicely. Not bad, but strongly outplayed by the other dishes.  They have a lovely house bread that one should not miss! The yoghurt-and-shallot side dish was excellent. I didn't like the house yoghurt soda much though.  We had the walnut ice cream and the saffron ice cream for dessert. Both were prepared well and came in big portions. Ironically, Rivass was the first place I tried to patronize two years ago, but was turned away because they were undergoing a remodel. Forward two years and it was worth the wait. The interior is modernly romantic although conveying a sophisticated chic atmosphere. The food is nothing short of amazing and the staff are incredibly welcoming. I know now why many Yelpers wait until they've exhausted all genres of food to give a five star rating. Rivass is definitely worthy of each star.
