I applied for a dog and was called the very next morning to go see him. I ended up taking him home the same day! I was surprised at how clean and nice the facilities are, especially since they have so many dogs. The dogs are really taken care of, and every single staff member I interacted with was helpful and kind. They answered all of my questions and gave me a lot of advice since it's my first time owning a dog, let alone a puppy. I was able to text and call them with questions after I brought him home too. Their free training sessions are a huge benefit. I've already had a one on one (they offer group sessions too), and it helped my puppy make a lot of progress with jumping and leash pulling. They're really called paws for LIFE for a reason--they care about making sure it's a good fit both for the human and the dog. If you find it's not a good fit, they're happy to take the dog back, which I think is a great policy.

It just came up behind my daughter and bit her on the arm while we were at Brand Park. My daughter required three stitches at the hospital, but thank God nothing worse happened. A shelter volunteer, Beth, was walking the dog at the time. After the incident Beth blamed my daughter for reaching her hand out toward the dog (she didn't even see the dog coming up behind her!), rather than taking responsibility for having a vicious animal on a public sidewalk. At the front desk they did say that because of this incident that dog would now never be adopted out, so that gives some comfort.

Kind of disorganized since people didnt really line-up like instructed, and staff member wasnt keeping track of who came first. So I would recommend, if you can, going with someone so that one of you can get the form to fill out and the other can hold your pet. Just from experience, since mine was too anxious to get close and then some people didnt leash their dogs/kitties. But I came and received my pups low cost vaccines and the vet(vet tech?) was super gentle with her. Pretty much took only 45 minutes. And I received my booklet and receipt of the services I took. They accepted cash and credit card. Please note, credit card use has an additional charge.

Not really it's mostly jeans and tee shirt type apparel which is necessary around all the animals. We have 2 dogs which Dixie is an American Bulldog, (so ugly she's cute) AKA (Foster Failure) if you don't know what that is look it up, and a truly beautiful red Pit Bull Daisy. Dixie is about 21/2 years old with some anxiety and I believe some abuse in her past, and Daisy was to be euthanized the day my wife saved her from the animal shelter, she is about 11/2 years old, very loving and not a care in the world (except Food). I say all that to say this; we only had the dogs a few months and we had a 2 week vacation planned, plane tickets already bought, you know the story. We need to find a place for our new family members, (not just anyplace mind you, though new to our family we love them to death) so we needed a special place or person, We interviewed a few people, then some kennels, and time was running out fast. so far not comfortable with any of the choices. So my wife has been doing some dog rescue transporting and she had been to this place a few times and met the owner Raphaele Brilliant on several of these transports. One of the Rescue organizations wanted her to be their eyes and check the place out, take some pictures, see if the facility is safe, secure, clean, etc. We did and Raphaele understood and was super accommodating showing us around. After talking to Raphaele for about an hour my wife and I both had an epiphany (or if you want the truth it was more of a DAH moment) why not use "Almost Home" for our dogs. Sometimes you don't see what is right in front of your face, but we did and we are so glad we did. So far this review has been about us and our dogs and it really needs to be about "Almost Home Pet Boarding". Raphaele and staff did an amazing job, she even sent pictures of our girls out on their daily walks etc. (Very nice). It is very normal due to the change of environment (going from a house and yard) to a kennel situation, that dogs will lose weight, however ours Did Not, and I think it is because they do get attention with the walks, there is an indoor play area they rotate the dogs and spend time with them. Dixie did have some anxiety there but I honestly feel it was minimized due to their attention. (Dixie got extra attention in her kennel because of her anxiety) and she is a joy to be around. LOL. All joking aside my wife and I 100% recommend this place, They all truly love the animals and are committed to their well being. Raphaele never makes you feel rushed, she wants to make sure your comfortable leaving and entrusting your dear pets with them. We will for sure use them for our pets whether overnight or a couple of weeks. They have it covered. Thanks for taking such good care of our babies "Almost Home".

I saw Harper and went to one of the adoption fairs. I first signed up as a foster. Fostering was free and I had two week periods to foster and help dogs socialize at home peacefully before being adopted. Food was provided and one of the responsibility is dropping them off at the adoption fairs. As you can assume, I went back to the adoption fairs only to start the adoption process. The organization truly cares about their dogs, making sure they get the best medical treatment and are placed in the right homes. There is no pressure in adopting the dogs so if you are only capable of committing a short amount of time, they express nothing but gratitude. They finalize the adoption by doing a home inspection, making sure the home and family are suitable for their rescues. My parents have also adopted a dog a few weeks later and the whole experience was organized, comfortable and smooth. I highly recommend fostering, donating to DWB and/or volunteering in this organization. Their staff and network of volunteers are truly angels .

DWB rescued him from a South LA shelter and he has very happily landed in a loving home with us.
