Karen and Nate founders, and wonderful volunteers, have created a peaceful, serene and happy haven for these sweet souls.

Kindred Spirits Care Farm soothed my soul... and my family's souls, last Sunday morning. Karen and Nate, the founders of Kindred Spirits Care Farm, along with their caring volunteers, welcomed and introduced us to their beautiful non-human family in a serene haven, surrounded by hills and red rocks, shaded by ancient oak and olive trees. One of the lovely guides told us about the animals, as we experienced many of their personalities: Tulula the pig scoffed and strutted away from Charlie the pig, so I discovered she preferred human company to other pigs; Jasper the sheep stirred things up by gently butting his head into my thigh, apparently he's a rabble-rouser; photogenic Pedro the alpaca posed for photos... but communicated "Admire me from a distance. No touching of the hair," which my musician-husband compared to 1960's Beatles' hair cut. A French woman said of one of the silky and statuesque Brahman cows, "Les vaches sont gourmets," (the cows are gourmets) as Karen fed them freshly pulled kohlrabi leaves from her farm's nearby organic vegetable garden. This place is Heaven. Sweet souls treated with love who share their joy with visitors. I left feeling content, peaceful, and filled with love. If you're in Southern California, I recommend setting aside a Sunday morning/early afternoon (10 am to 2 pm on Sundays) to experience the peace and joy of Kindred Spirits Care Farm. My family (kids, grandkids, parents) drove from near and far for this experience. We're all so happy we did. Thank you, Kindred Spirits Care Farm. Please enjoy the photos I posted and this reel https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIHqnNGBzKq/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

We had my son's birthday party at Kindred. It was so lovely and the kids ran around and had a blast. They explored the cave, climbed rocks and even got a tour of the animals. Highly recommend. Karen was nice and easy to deal with. They even made us the best cupcakes to share with our party goers.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! When I arrived I was greeted by Terry who briefed my party and I on the experience we would have. During our time there we had our very kind and KNOWLEDGEABLE tour Guid Anne lead the group. She was such a pleasure to have and provided much knowledge not only on the animals but the farm, its location and rich history including the surrounding plants and trees. She spoke about their organic and environmentally friendly products and procedures. All the animals have names and each have their own individual stories. It clearly shows how much they are loved and cared for. I personally recommend. It's also family friendly. Open every Sunday 10am-2pm.

Beautiful facility. You can tell the animals are well cared for. Very clean. Easy parking and check in. Very close to LA and not far off the freeway. Wonderful staff and volunteers. Go vegan for the animals!

So, last night, was my wife's s birthday, I took the wife, the kid to Kindred spirits Care farm for a tour and a sunset picnic. It was our first visit and it was wonderful. So we got to meet the goats , alpaca , dog , pig , sheep , cows , turkeys turkey , chickens , emus, horses , donkey and turtles . All recuses that are retired and don't work anymore. We got to hear all their stories from our guide Karen. Listening to many wonderful stories of animals that have truly earned the good life. Then they set us up with a giant huge delicious Vegan Mexican fiesta picnic under a 500 year old oak tree at about dusk. They had set it up with fine dishes, glasses, linens, and pretty lights strung amongst the trees. Really impressive. Perfect timing for dinner after over an hour of meeting critters, we were ready to eat and they made so much delicious vegan food (and I'm not vegan and I loved it) we could have fed 5-8, but since everything is vegan the animals can handle the leftovers (I am guessing). They topped it all with churro cheesecake and horchata ice cream. Vegan again and again was amazing. If this was at a restaurant I'd go just for this awesomeness. My wife was amazed. Had absolutely no clue this was a thing. It was like renting our own private sunset farm. This was a winning idea. So very different, unique and close to home.

Had such a great time getting to know the rescued animals on the farm. The volunteers and staff were very welcoming and it was amazing to learn about this nonprofit farm, you could tell how much these animals are cared for. I can't wait to visit again, so lucky it's located in the valley. It's been on my list of places to visit and I'm so happy I came! I hope to attend one of their future events soon, they hold dinners made by a vegan chef and I can't wait to continue to learn more about this amazing place. If you're in the valley, please come and support!

Cool experience at Kindred :) My fave were the alpacas! They're so cute!! It was nice to hear the rescue stories of all the animals and how to care for them. Very nice staff.

Awesome Rescue Farm for animals.... I came here on a Sunday it is $10 for adults and $5 for kiddos. They do have volunteer days as well check their website or contact them. Got a tour and explanation of what they do there and their mission and how they help rescue animals. What a great experience to see what others are doing to save animals from being slaughtered for no reason.... I brought a bag of veggies and fruits for the animals I was hoping to feed them but Sundays you can do it after 2PM (Closing) because they don't want the animals all riled up when they are giving people tours...understandable. Please follow their rules as well.....this is not a petting zoo so don't go there expecting to hug, pet and interact with all the animals...only do so if they come to you and want you to.... If it wasn't so far for me I would be back more often and volunteer but I definitely will visit again and bring others!!!!!!!

You want to rescue them all but you can't. All you can do is spread some love around the cages and, if the stars align, get to take a new family member home. They do what they can at this City of LA shelter in Chatsworth. It's totally overbooked with dogs who would much rather be lounging on your rug at home. By some crazy coincidence, someone had turned in a Korean Jindo, which was the breed I had in mind. Our amazing attendant got "James" out of the cage and into one of the large meet-and-greet areas. While it's tough to bond with 50 other dogs barking their heads off, I knew it was a match. All dogs must be neutered/spayed before they can leave the animal shelter. Because James had already been fixed, there was nothing to do but pay the fee and invite him into the Lambo. At this time (February 2026), fees are halved to reduce overcrowding, so my total cost for James, including being up to date on rabies and all vaccines and micro-chipping, was $51. What I like a lot is that the shelter provides you with detailed notes taken by staff and volunteers who have interacted with your pet. Though James had only been at the shelter for about five weeks, there were plenty of comments (friendly, warms up after a few minutes, not a barker) which gave me some extra confidence. Check out the shelter for your new family member soon!

I had a very unpleasant experience at this animal shelter and I feel the supervisor Troy handled…read morethe situation in a very unprofessional way. About two weeks ago I took in a large dog because the previous owner was going to take him to the shelter and I felt bad for the dog. I wanted to try to keep him, but after keeping him for a short time I noticed the dog was becoming aggressive toward my wife and my kids. I have small children at home and I cannot take risks when it comes to their safety, so I decided the responsible thing to do was to bring the dog to the shelter since I could not keep him and I could not find anyone who could safely take him. When I arrived, the supervisor Troy came outside and immediately had a rude attitude. Instead of trying to help, she started questioning me in a way that felt more like an interrogation than a normal conversation. She kept asking why I had my wife's ID with me, how the dog knows me, and why I was bringing the dog there. I understand staff may need to ask questions, but the way she spoke was disrespectful and unnecessary. I explained that I live in the 91344 area and that the dog was not safe around my family, but she kept arguing and acting like I was doing something wrong. In the end, she refused to take the dog, which made no sense to me because this is exactly what animal shelters are for. People come there when they cannot safely keep an animal. What bothered me the most is that she is a supervisor. If a supervisor behaves this way, it gives a very bad impression of the whole place. People who come to a shelter are already stressed, and the staff should treat them with respect, not attitude. I tried to do the right thing by bringing the dog to the shelter instead of abandoning him somewhere, and I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. This was not the kind of experience I expected from a city animal shelter. I hope management looks into this, because situations like this should be handled much more professionally

I saw Harper and went to one of the adoption fairs. I first signed up as a foster. Fostering was free and I had two week periods to foster and help dogs socialize at home peacefully before being adopted. Food was provided and one of the responsibility is dropping them off at the adoption fairs. As you can assume, I went back to the adoption fairs only to start the adoption process. The organization truly cares about their dogs, making sure they get the best medical treatment and are placed in the right homes. There is no pressure in adopting the dogs so if you are only capable of committing a short amount of time, they express nothing but gratitude. They finalize the adoption by doing a home inspection, making sure the home and family are suitable for their rescues. My parents have also adopted a dog a few weeks later and the whole experience was organized, comfortable and smooth. I highly recommend fostering, donating to DWB and/or volunteering in this organization. Their staff and network of volunteers are truly angels .
