I got the sweetest, most adorable and gentle boy from here 2 years ago. He was an 8 year old poodle mix named Harvey. He was well cared for, but as all rescues he was afraid of his own shadow initially. He loved being loved and I loved that because he was so easy. Unfortunately, I lost him to Cancer in February. My pick up line was, "Hey we match! Gray is one of my favorite colors." One month ago, I adopted a senior Russian or Archangel Blue cat. His given name is Lavendar. I call him Lavi Grey. Lavi was surrendered by his remaining family members after loosing his parents suddenly at age 8. Lavi & his 2 brothers were surrendered to East Valley Animal Shelter. His brothers were able to be adopted as bonded pair, but Lavender remained there. Eventually he became housed at Pet Adoption Fund (a no-kill, non-profit rescue in Canoga Park). From Petfinder to Pet Adoption Fund & to meeting Maggie (President & Chairwoman). Seeing almost all the cats & finally Lavender. Which, I spent the most time with, he followed me around a little- but he Mainly spoke to me through his aqua eyes & motor purrrsss. By the time I met Lavi- (we think) that he's been living unhoused for probably 1.5 yrs. This sweet boy needed a hm & a second chance. Russian Blues can live up to 20 yrs old. So Lavi Grey still has the other half of his life to live & he deserves the chance to do that. He's been through so much & u can tell by the scars/marks on his little body. And so we went home & it's been a month now. Lavi is getting more comfortable, opening up & developing his relationship with his younger brother, Neo. Thank you much, Maggie! We just adopted our sweet boy from PAF and had the best experience. Maggie is very experienced and intuitive. We came in to meet 2 dogs but wasn't feeling the click. She suggested meeting a couple other dogs and bam! We felt that magical moment when you know! Had she not gone above and beyond, picking up body language, and really listening to us, we would've left without finding our boy. The home check was easy to set up and pick up was a breeze. They provided a cute collar, leash, kibble, and toys. One of the staff members was very helpful in making sure his collar was on safely so he doesn't slip out of it and helping me set him up in our car safely. This my third review for Pet Adoption Fund, as I have adopted my third dog from that no-kill shelter. My first dog was a blue-nose pit bull called Blue Bob. He was an ambassador for his breed, so gentle with everyone, including children as young as two. He was what I would characterize as a bodhisattva. If you are unfamiliar with the term, please look it up, He was seven when I adopted him and unfortunately only lived two years and two months more. Despite my short time with him, one of my neighbors said, "He completed his mission." My second dog was a boxer/pit bull mix called Ginger, my first female. She was very nurturing and affectionate and followed me everywhere. She had a number of health issues, and I was able to extend her life through holistic means. I had her for 5 1/2 years and her passing last January hit me very hard. She was the love of my life. For a number of weeks I volunteered by walking a number of dogs at Pet Adoption Fund and got to know them very well. Eight days earlier I had the opportunity to walk a tan shepherd mix called Emmy, a new dog at the shelter. After I walked her and received a tongue-licking from her, I realized that if I didn't adopt her right away, someone else would. I made arrangements to pick Emmy up last Saturday, and It is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. She is affectionate as Ginger was and is very curious. 38 Days. Stella sat in this shelter for 38 days in spite of having "many" applications. Had I been allowed I would have had her out of there within a week. They received her on Feb 23rd. I called on the 24th and was advised to put in an application. The person I spoke to on the phone said I would hear back in a day or two. I never did. So a week later I sent a follow up email, still no response. So another week later I sent a much longer email to give them more information about me and my house after reading Yelp reviews regarding their concerns about coyotes. I hadn't looked them up on Yelp until I hadn't heard from them for two weeks. I finally received the response seen here. I was not even being considered to adopt any dog from them, nevermind the one I was interested in. No reason why was given. One their website it straight up says they will "If you do not hear back from us in a day or two, unfortunately that means we are unable to find a good match for you at this time." How many good adopters are overlooked by this policy? How many people do they just ignore? As of today Stella is no longer on their website so I'm hoping that means they found her a good home. Their website also says they reserve the right to retrieve the animal at any time for breach of adoption contract. I wonder how many times they've had to do that? If it's more than zero, maybe they need to re-evaluate the adopters they are passing over in interest of these special adopters that meet their "certain criteria." I have adopted many pets in my life, and never have I been dismissed out of hand for no reason whatsoever. I have had instances where the one I was interested wasn't going to be a good fit for my house, and that was deduced by communicating with the shelter before visiting the animal. The lack of communication is astounding. Based on their responses to other reviews it's clear they hide behind being a private shelter and don't want to have to actually have a conversation about any concerns they may have. If they had come to me with concerns we could have had a dialogue, or a phone call or something, but they are so sure their snap judgment is correct they don't want to be questioned on it. My email asking what criteria I didn't meet and why I wasn't being considered went unanswered ... again. It is their right to be extra selective, but that doesn't mean they're right for the way they go about it. And just to address the coyote concerns, to pass someone over because they live where there are coyotes is the same as not allowing someone to adopt because they live on a street and the dog might run out the door and get hit by a car. Coyotes are a fact of life here in the Valley, as long as the person is aware and taking necessary precautions living where there are shouldn't automatically disqualify them from adopting a pet. I can only speak on behalf of the cat adoption process, but as a first time pet owner, the entire process from start to finish with PAF was pretty smooth and painless. Due to COVID, they are currently open Fridays and Saturdays by appointment only. Maggie was very helpful throughout and I even called her saying I was running 5 minutes late for the cat appointment, which she said was no issue at all considering it was a busy day. Application was quick and easy with just a few questions, all done with pen and paper and a couple of initials/signatures later, you're able to see the animals. In terms of the shelter itself, it seemed clean and organized and the animals are very well cared for. Maggie was patient with me and allowed me to spend time with each cat that I was interested in and answered my questions about them to the best of her ability. Once I finally bonded with a beautiful, sweet tabby, I knew this was the one I would be taking home. Maggie gave me good advice on caring for the cat and even provided free toys and food. Not to mention the carrier they gave me is of beautiful quality. Adoption fee is a little higher than most shelters, but to me it makes sense considering they are a non-profit, no-kill shelter that truly want the best for their animals. I also think the fee amount deters non-serious pet adopters or people not suitable/financially capable of providing the best life for the pet. I love that the animals here are microchipped and bonded to the shelter for life in cases where it doesn't turn out to be a good fit. As for me, I know my furbaby and I are a perfect match as she is the sweetest most loving cat I've ever known and I absolutely love her. They did say they would call after a few days to check in on how things are going but they haven't. This isn't too much of a concern for me as things are going great with my new cat and I! Overall, if you truly feel you can provide a quality life for an animal, then I highly recommend Pet Adoption Fund for the next addition to your family! read more

Can't say enough about how fabulous everyone here at the Pet Adoption Fund was to me during the adoption of my new best friend. I have done this a few times before and never has the process been more seamless. Went to their website and saw a pup I was interested in, so I downloaded an application, filled it out and emailed it back. Maggie who was my adoption coordinator called me the very next morning and arranged for me to come and meet my potential new fur baby that weekend. When I arrived Maggie took me back to the puppy room so I could spend some quality time with the pup, enough to know he was the one. She then set up a time within the next couple of days for a house check. I needed to get the gate fixed, which was done, pictures sent to Maggie. She called me the next day and said I had been approved! I was over the moon happy! Said I could pick him up that weekend, which was today. Whole process took only a week even with having the gate fixed. When I got there Manuel, affectionately referred to as the "dog whisperer" brought my new best friend out to me. We haven't adopted any pets from these folks. We have 3 spoiled rotten cats already. Recently we bought a bunch of cat food that was not to my precious feline's liking. Chewy refunded me all our money back and said keep the food and please find an animal shelter to donate it too. I found the Pet Adoption Fund right here in Canoga Park. They said YES! Please bring your canned cat food here, we will take it! The Queen of Reseda and I took a short drive over there and they thanked us for the donation. It feels good to do something nice for someone else. I figure I'm scoring Karma points with the big man. I have since ordered another $100.00 of cat food from Chewy. I just hope Teddy, Maggie, and the Mommy cat find the new cat food acceptable or there will be more donations to the needy cats hanging here at the Pet Adoption Fund. read more

This adoption for me was not like all the other adoptions I have done. I needed to find a playmate for my Male Husky Mix Leroy. I found Lulu, who we are calling Luna, searching on the web on Pet Adoption Day. I called and left a message and received an immediate call back from Maggie. Very nice lady. Took this process serious with us which was welcomed. We were invited to bring our Leroy to meet and greet. Didn't go well. But Manuel, her handler, invited us to bring Leroy back for a 2nd visit. I was impressed and was totally on board. I think Leroy might have thought he was being dropped off so, was keeping his eye on us. 2nd visit went better. You can tell these guys are intimate with these animals. They wanted just as much as I to make sure these 2 dogs worked. And they let us do 1 more visit. The meet and greets were worth it. The reviews for this place paints such a negative and inaccurate picture. We made an appointment to meet a dog here and it could not have been more pleasant. Maggie was very friendly and answered all of our questions about the pup we're interested in adopting. They have covid procedures in place and the adoption process (so far) is straight-forward and quick. I made the mistake of reading these yelp reviews before i went and it made me nervous. Thankfully, the people leaving these terrible reviews were wrong and are just looking to ruin someone's day because of their own mistakes. Even if we aren't approved after the home check, i will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to adopt, they clearly care about the animals they're taking care of and I'm very happy I found them. Thank you! ** Update: We we're approved, got a home check, and were able to pick up our new dog the very next day! We were given contact information for a helpful trainer who gave us tips for introducing him to our current dog and cat. On top of the process and everyone being awesome, Maggie sent us home with so much swag! I wish I had read the negative reviews of this tremendously dirty and wayward volunteer services, by Maggie, Elaine and the rest of the "Golden Girls" there. I wish the reviews weren't true, but I went in just like many other hopefuls waiting to meet a cute and cuddly fur-baby. From the moment my friend and I walked in the door, we were judged on our young appearance and were told there was an age requirement. (We're just about 30, thanks.) Then proceeded to tell them I had seen a kitty online that I had my heart set on and would love to meet. I was not directly helped by one person... it was like a jury on trial for a crime I didn't commit. One question from the peanut gallery, while talking directly to another, while another piping in from the other side of the room. But none actually benefiting the situation. Then a clipboard with 101 questions came swooping in out of nowhere. "Here, fill this out. That kitty is in foster care, but we can give them a call to see if they can bring your kitty over." The form asked for personal information about family and housing. So, thinking I'm just going to VIEW this kitty and also, being a private person, none of these questions apply/should apply to me. The form was handed back for "on-site review". I was immediately questioned in a condescending manner, "DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO FILL OUT A FORM?! COME ON!" Down right, RUDE!!! But I let it go, after all my heart will be filled with a little fluffy fur-baby... so, I thought. We were taken to the back of this run-down place into 3 cat rooms-- all which smelled horrible (I'm not a novice to shelters or that specific smell) and most of the cats were obese from leaving the cat food out on a free-for-all... UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS!!! (One cat, no joke, just about 30 lbs.) Conditions and rudeness aside, the volunteer, Brandon was very knowledgeable in each cat's health and behaviors. When I asked Brandon about the kitty I wanted to see, he also said that they would call to foster care parent to see if they could bring the kitty to me, keeping in mind I had come from long-distance. I continued to look and pet other cats, because why not? Once we were done with the tour, Brandon specifically went to the "form-reviewer", Maggie or Elaine... I don't remember at this point, they were all rude... he asked her about the foster parent of the kitty I've been continuously asking about. She threw her hands up in air and abruptly replied, "There's nothing we can do about it." After two volunteers graciously offered to call, all of a sudden, "there's nothing we can do about it." WOW. Isn't the objective to find these dear animals a loving and sustainable home?!!! I feel bad for them because they don't have qualified humans to assist them in finding their right home. It's not the animals' fault but the off-putting behavior from these rude and condescending volunteers will NEVER allow me to go back! read more

[my original review was removed for some reason, so I'm adding more detail] We found a dog we wanted to adopt, so we arranged for a "home inspection" and since we've owned dogs for decades, we figured there would be no issue. Apparently our large, completely fenced in yard has some small openings in the gate here in there and/or they were concerned hawks or coyotes would kill the dog we wanted, even though we live in the middle of suburbia, completely surrounded by other homes and nowhere near any true open, wild spaces or washes. I think if we had simply lied and said we wouldn't give the dog free access to our large yard, they would have given us the dog. I'm not big on lying though. So, they told us we couldn't adopt the dog we wanted. It ended up working out great as we found a great private shelter in Mission Hills with friendly, helpful people working there and MUCH lower adoption fees. And most importantly, we found an amazing dog there for our family pet (currently sleeping on the couch). My original review is below: --- They'd rather let the dogs linger indefinitely in the squalor of their shelter than let a loving home adopt when the 'home visitors' determine there's even a remote possibility that something bad might befall the animal. Plus they're kind of just rude. It's unfortunate for the animals and it can be quite sad for a hopeful family (you've been warned!). read more

My daughter and I adopted a dog in December 2021-and Maggie the woman who works there helped inform us about the temperament of the different dogs we liked which helped us arrive at our decision. The place is clean, they are kind and knowledgable about their animals and the staff is extremely helpful. I have adopted other dogs in the past and this was by far the most professional establishment. They responded to all of our calls and requests immediately. i absolutely loved this adoption center. these reviews are very inaccurate and paint such a negative perspective towards the people who work there. #1) there application is so straight forward, easy & fast. they make it very clear on how to receive a application. they're also very well organized. #2) they WANT there pets adopted! so many people were saying how they felt like they didn't want to give away their pet, YES they do. #3) the workers. Maggie is an pure angel. straight forward. honest, and hard working. she was significantly flexible with us & very respectful. she gave us ALL the time we need, answered our questions well & accurate & was formal. i didn't feel judged one bit by any of the ladies. We adopted our lovely Piper (then called Mable) from this agency in January 2019. As soon as we saw her cute little face on their website we instantly knew she is the one for us. The only difficult part was waiting for one of the volunteer staff to come conduct a home assessment, since we couldn't wait to bring her home :) . Aside from Pet Adoption Fund connecting us to our furry lovebug, I love that the agency is a no kill shelter and provides care for senior dogs.I did not mind paying the adoption fees since I knew it was being put to good use, plus Piper came up with all her initial immunizations done and she was already "fixed". As for the adoption process, It was pretty straightforward. Of course they want to make sure that you will provide proper care so they do ask you some questions to gauge your suitability as pet caregiver. This is important because they want to make sure that the dogs/cats will be cared for post-adoption. Piper has brought us immeasurable joy. Please adopt from this agency. Don't shop! read more

We looked on line for a dog to adopt since I lost my lab/ridgeback in August of 2018. I saw a dog on line that I fell in love with but when I went to visit the dog the walker told me she was agressive with other dogs and it would be hard for me to walk her. I 68 at the time but I do a lot of walking and swimming. I was disappointed but did not give up and looked around. We found a small dog but I wasn't really sure but my husband liked her. They came over and checked our our home and then they told me that this dog liked to bite the husbands feet which was true. I decided to go back and look again and I found a beautiufl GSD that was so sweet and loving. We have had her for about 7 months now and just love her. They interview you but they want to make sure they place a pet in a forever home. They helped us a lot. I hope I can send a picture through this site. read more

I encourage anyone looking to adopt a dog or cat to please consider adopting from a rescue or if adoption isn't possible, to please donate. This rescue is a non-profit organization and all volunteers are not paid! Adoption fees and donations go all to the animals. PAF tries to get as much history on the animals that they rescue and all are spayed/neutered, chipped, checked out by a good vet and have all their vaccines. Like some of the other 1-star raters, I wish I could rate this place a negative 5! I saw that they had 2 German Shepherd mixed 5 month old male pups online. I went to see if one was still available, I was told to fill out an application before she could show me the puppy. Once complete she informed me that because my dogs reside both indoor and outdoors I would most likely not be approved. Her curt tone and judgmental comments were shocking. I have been a pet owner my entire life! My animals are family members and are pampered much better than most people I know. My neighbor's dogs come to my yard to hang out because they know there is love and caring here. My yard is huge safely fenced and my dog houses are mini-palaces located on a large covered and partially enclosed patio! For this woman to judge me the way she did was extremely offensive! The demeanor of the women working there was curt and not the environment I'd want to adopt from. I don't understand how they got or keep their license. What I was able to see and smell at entry was totally unexeptible. I feel terrible for the dogs. Our family is willing to offer a wonderful life to at least 2 new furry family members but they will not come from here. I was considering donating to the shelter on a regular basis based on what I read on the website, but now that I have visited, I will not feed this particular fire. I hope whoever gave them a license will reconsider and get these animals to a shelter that will allow them to be adopted by loving families with so much to offer. read more

Dear people, It's been almost a year since we brought Ugly Earl the pirate cat home to live with us. I just wanted to reaffirm that he's the BEST CAT EVER. A couple of days after we rescued him, I took him to the vet and found out that he had a massive ear infection and mites. While I was a little sad to hear that Pet Adoption Fund hadn't found those things and treated them, I can't exactly blame them, because the cat is FREAKING TERRIFYING when he gets stressed out. Like a minion of Satan. Anyway, it's because his ears are so messed up. They don't drain properly, but, we've developed a system (wrapping him in a blanket) to swab them every couple of weeks, and he's been healthy as a horse since then. He's put on seven pounds of muscle, and his coat is shiny and fabulous now. He follows me like a shadow, and is the most physically affectionate cat I've ever met. He literally sleeps on the pillow next to me, or in my arms. Anyway, for everyone who overlooked him for so long, it's your freaking loss. Best cat ever. Thanks, guys! read more

If I could gave zero stars I would. My roommates and I walked it immediately had an unwelcoming feeling to the place. We told them what we were looking for and immediately told us we had to fill out a waver in order to see the animals, but before we were able to fill out the paper we were bombarded with questions. About who will take responsibility and in the event that we can't take care of the cat who would take care of it, the old lady in the corner with red hair asked if we went to the shelter first because "our kittens are pricey" and us college students probably can't afford the kitten because apparently we don't have money. We left right away didn't even want to see them after that we were trying to do good and give a cat a great home but saw us unqualified as soon as we walked in. Overall worst experience ever I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We worked with several rescue organizations to find the right dog for us and I can tell you, they all ask a lot of questions. One group had a six page application with three references!! Ok - so we found Pet Adoption Fund through the Internet and we were looking at a specific dog when we went in. I went in on a Saturday and filled out their one page application. Do you live in a coyote area? Yes - we all do. The people who run this organization must have lost a dog to a coyote, so the safety of their dogs is of the utmost importance. I viewed the dog in the cage and left, telling them I'd bring my husband the following day. It is not pristine and many of the people working are actually volunteers. I returned the next day with my husband and we looked at two dogs that came in together. They told us everything they knew about them and their previous owners, which was not that much. But again, it's a no kill rescue/shelter organization.We took the dogs to a play yard, then the cat room (we also have a cat) and then for a walk. Though we didn't intend on getting two dogs, we fell in love and got both of them. The fee is to help the organization run and to keep some animals for their entire lives. There was no computer and it was all done by hand. Maybe not the most efficient way, but probably the most cost effective. They brought the dogs over a few hours later and did a home visit. It all went smoothly and they were ours :-) We've had the dogs for 2 weeks and we just adore them. They are super sweet and fun to be around. If you are looking to rescue a dog and you understand the love that these people have for the animals, then this is a great place. They are looking to place animals as members of the family. read more

I adopted an amazing dog here and couldn't be happier. The volunteers REALLY care about their animals! I visited numerous times and always saw people walking and/or playing with the dogs. Everyone was eager to share photos, videos, and stories about the dog I ended up adopting. One volunteer even gave me her personal email address so I could send her updates about his progress. The application was short and reasonable. The volunteers seemed concerned about coyotes, which is completely understandable because they're a real risk in SoCal. They're looking for applicants who understand the potential danger, so I recommend cooperating with their concerns. I admitted that a pack of coyotes lives across the street and promised I wouldn't leave my dog unsupervised on the patio, which they really appreciated. To the person who called them "animal hoarders," I was actually an unlikely candidate for adoption and they still bent over backwards to accommodate me. I was about to graduate from college and didn't own an apartment. They allowed me to sign the papers and visit him whenever until I found housing. I also had no money, so they discounted the adoption free and suggested several payment plans. In all honesty, they probably should've told me to "get lost," but instead they took a chance and worked with me. Their intuition was correct because now the dog is the most spoiled pup of all time and I take him everywhere with me. I couldn't be happier with the dog I adopted. We just adopted the newest member of our family from here. We had a wonderful experience coming here. The staff is so sweet and friendly and made the process so simple. We came on a Saturday and met with Corrine who was a volunteer and showed us the kitten we had seen online. You can tell these volunteers really love these animals. Well we saw our kitten, and about fifty other cats too! We ended up staying for almost two hours and Corrine stayed with us the entire time, while we played with the other cats. The animals are well taken care of, and it's comforting to know that this is a no kill shelter. But so many of these beautiful and loving animals need homes. We couldn't take our kitten home because he still needed to see the vet, get shots and get his microchip. I was happy to know how thorough they were with making sure our new guy was ok and that we were ok to take him as well. We picked up our kitten on the following Tuesday and met with Julia and she was wonderful, she gave us all of the follow up information for future shots and neutering apt. Everyone here is beyond helpful. Since we have been home our kitten has already bonded with us and we are so lucky to have found him. He is a loving and playful kitten. This place is the worst!!! Evil old ladies!!!! My family and I wanted to give a dog a new home and they turned us around because we were not sure where the dog was going to sleep we had to have a set place.. we said the doggie would sleep in the house or the garage, we've had many happy dogs that have lived in our family with no problems, my children and I felt horrible when asked to go to another shelter to adopt a dog, she also mentioned that her dogs where safer or something in the shelter.... we tried to adopt a dog that didn't have a home and where turned down like we were animal killers... this place is horrible.... and also and the lady is Diana or something... and to make things even more crazy.. they have there dogs outside!!! Great rescue. They grill you to make sure you're the right people which is great. They clearly care a great deal for the best situation to be available to their rescues. We had Mitiman for a few days and he was absolutely wonderful. Just not a fit due to one of our dogs being way too territorial. They got on well at the rescue, but the dynamic changed in the house and we didn't want to give Mitiman less than he could get with another family. The rescue service understood and prefer that non working relationships be given up for a better situation. The people here are empathic and kind, thorough and care for the rescues very deeply. I was lucky to get a tour of the place and meet the cat rescues as well, who get a great cat room with a mini-gym of sorts to live in while they wait for their forever homes. My husband and I adopted a great 10 year old Tortoise Shell cat about a month ago. The adoption process was very well organized, the facility was clean and well-maintained, and all of the staff that we met were friendly, engaging, and helpful. We are so grateful that our new cat Penelope was rescued from the shelter and is now a member of our family. Very rude people who like to push specific dogs and say no to others without good reasoning. Even though we have adopted from them previously (and he was an adult dog who lived on for another 11 years with us) and have rescued plenty of other pets over the years, we're treated like we're incapable of providing a suitable home. It's really frustrating. The one good thing they do is check to see how a dog will react to their cats in a way that gives a really clear indication on a dog's behavior towards them. read more

I will forever be grateful to this place for bringing my sweet Rosie into my life they were eager to place her in a good home and they told me she probably wouldn't be there very long, as she was just dropped off because her owners were getting divorced and she is hypoallergenic. Although, I wasn't planning on getting a dog that day, I fell in love with little Rosie and they did a home check that evening! The adoption process was fairly simple and you can tell that the staff really loves their animals and want them all to be placed in good homes. Today Rosie is doing great, she was already well-trainer and she's great off leash at the beach and the park. Her favorite thing to do is chase squirrels and chase my boyfriend around the park! As you may know, my boyfriend and I have been making the rounds looking for a kitteh to complete our relationship! However, my boyfriend is a racist, sexist and ageist. He refuses to consider kittehs that are not black and white short hairs, 2-3 year old, males. SO when I learned that Pet Adoption Fund is "the largest private Non-Profit No-Kill Rescue Organization in Southern California" I thought we might have a chance. "On the average, our facility houses around 175 dogs and 75 cats, of all sizes, ages and breeds". I have to admit it's a little off putting when you first arrive. Some of the dog runs are right in front of the parking area, and the dogs are going crazy barking, and it smells like dog piss and crap. When we went into the office, there were smaller kennels where they put little dogs, and the office is incredibly uninviting. The dogs were barking non-stop, there was no where to sit and wait. While we waited we had to fill out a waiver and information sheet, about what we were looking for specifically. While we waited, I watched a lot of volunteers who are continuously walking every dog which is kinda cool. When we asked where we could go look at the cats, we learned that you had to be guided through the facility, hence the reason we were filling out the information sheet about what we wanted. So we waited about 10 minutes, while Julie the head cat care taker came over to take us through a kitteh tour. After winding through some awkward fenced areas, into some hallways, we arrived at the first of 5 or 6 cat rooms that we would visit. Julie knew everything about each cat. She was incredibly informative, passionate, yet not overpowering in any sense. While my boy friend and I played with and patted all the cats, she explained their history and personalities, which I found to be incredibly useful, since many shelters don't give you that in depth of information up front. The cat rooms are separated by characteristics and age. There is a stray and shy cats room, kittens and younger cats, to older, some rooms with mothers and their kittens, and so on. Sadly we didn't find that perfect kitteh. But I want to stress that this is a great place to come if you are looking for a cat. There were so many to choose from, and Julie's wealth of knowledge and personalized tour really helped us pick out the cats that we did like. There was one, I think his name was Romeo, who we loved, but he was orange... Other interesting facts about the Pet Adoption Fund is that it relies solely upon donations to exist. You can tell that they are lacking a lot of funding, but still providing an amazing service to animals and prospective owners. Almost every single person working there is a volunteer, and they need a lot of volunteers to help keep the place going. I recommend checking this place out if you're in search of a new animal.
