We are two partnering AAPI performing arts orgs in NY/Nj. Saffron59 did our first New York Gala this year - 2025. They did a magnificent job with great waitstaff, bartenders and incredible food! We had over 100 people and everyone is a foodie. If you want to engage them, do it quickly as they are pretty busy being the premiere ASIAN American caterer in the Big Apple. read more

Wow, saffron 59, so much to say. My wife and I got married in October of 2023. When it comes to weddings, people will always remember how good of a party it was and how good the food is. My wife is Jewish, and my parents are vegetarian, so naturally, chinese food was the way to go. My wife was browsing through caterers and picked up on how unique the dishes offered by Saffron 59 were, and I was sold. We chatted with Jen and Irene and committed! We had a tasting sometime in early 2023, and I was blown by the food and hospitality. On wedding night, the guests were raving about the food and signature cocktails. We served family style, and our entrees were braised short ribs, ginger chicken, and steamed fish alongside numerous other side dishes. The presentation was gorgeous, and the food was on point! Also, there was not a hitch in the serving of multiple different dishes, and everything came out hot. Our personal server, Juliana, was an absolute gem and made my wife and I feel well taken care of throughout the night. Keeping it real, I felt like communication with saffron 59 through the planning process could have been a bit better as we were a bit anxious about our guests with dietary restrictions, and I definitely had a bit of sticker shock but I did my research and that's the just the price of good catering at a NYC wedding. At the end of the day, the night was magical, and Saffron 59 knows how to execute. We're so grateful! read more

Belated review from 2021. When planning a wedding for two foodies, we had a very specific vision and Saffron59 was our first choice. They were able to execute our Chinese fusion banquet dream outdoors at the botanical gardens with ease-- even during COVID. Irene and her team were responsive to our questions, and worked with us despite COVID delaying plans for a year and changing guest lists. They even helped the day of with the details. Irene even decorated the cake for us! The guests loved the food and I personally appreciated Irene's Burmese pork dish. The staff were all very courteous, wearing masks and professional in their matching Burmese attire. Thank you for providing a memorable experience. read more

We hire Saffron59 to cater an event for 40 in our backyard. They came in early, helped us set up, cooked most of the food onsite, and provided excellent wait service and bartending. Food quality and service was impeccable and received glowing comments from my guests. I looked at two other companies and couldn't be happier that I hired them. read more

Worked with Irene & her team on a recent special event and the food and service was fantastic! You can taste the quality in each bite and her team was lovely to work with! read more

I have tried many dishes from Saffron59 and have enjoyed each and every one! I am a pescatarian (that doesn't eat shellfish) - and Irene and her team have always been extremely accommodating! Some of my favorite dishes that I've had are fresh fish ceviche (so many complex flavors!) and Burmese tofu, which I had never had prior. It was truly incredible. I get excited to try new foods, and have really enjoyed everything I've had; I hope to have more experiences to try Irene's food! Thank you! read more

Very unprofessional. Try a lot of ways to contact - phone, website form, social media etc. Never get a response.

If you're a lucky couple, you have months to look for a great caterer, but we only had a short window to lock someone in. In that time, we got to know and adore Irene and the staff at Saffron 59. They took great care in crafting an authentic Jamaican/Hawaiian menu for us, including delicious new takes on some of our old family favorites. And the food! It was so fresh and so flavorful, people are STILL asking us for recipes! Saffron 59 genuinely care about their work, but more importantly they really do care about their customers. They went above and beyond anything we could have ever asked for. Whenever we can we will DEFINITELY use them again and are recommending them to everyone we know!!!! THANK YOU GUYS!! #boymetgirl330 read more

FIVE STARS. Hands down. Irene and her team were/are/will forever be amazing in my book. We actually had another caterer lined up (with deposit paid!) for our 2014 wedding, and almost didn't go to the Saffron59 tasting!! But The Flavors! And The Presentation! Each dish was a masterpiece, and my notoriously picky eater of a husband liked everything that came out of the kitchen. My husband is Jamaican and my family is from Hawaii & Nevis so we wanted our menu to be authentically us. Saffron 59 embraced the challenge, coming up with inventive signature cocktails and a full buffet style meal showcasing both of our cultures. They planned the menu, hired the staff and even gave us the baker for our wedding cake (which was to die for). They were reasonable, warm and giving. And they were involved from day one, doing venue walk thrus with us; connecting with our day of coordinators; helping move the day along from cocktail hour to sit down dinner to cake cutting. They also made sure our vendors were fed and our guests were happy. Even now, years later, we still keep in touch with Irene and her team, and have been known to drop by a Saffron59 tasting or two. They're seriously like family now. read more

We can't recommend Saffron 59 highly enough. My husband and I were planning a gathering of about 120 people for our wedding party and were thrilled when we found a caterer who specializes in southeast Asian cooking. Irene, Kay, Leili, and the rest of the staff were incredibly attentive to our needs. My family is Indonesian, so we really wanted food that felt like home to my family and something our friends would also enjoy. Our budget was on the small side, but rather than attempt to guilt us into spending more than we could afford, they listened and worked with us to find a way to have amazing food for our wedding party without going bankrupt. We also had a space with very limited facilities, so they orchestrated bringing their own equipment in addition to very beatiful serving plates and wares. It's their deftness in ancillary matters that make Saffron 59 feel more a collaborator than someone who just shows up with food. And the food was incredible! Even the vegans, vegetarians, and picky eaters found several dishes they'd chase down again and again. We're happy to recommend this business! read more

Irene and her team provided a beautiful evening that included not just a sumptuous meal but small decor touches and thoughtful attention to allergies. We appreciated being able to focus on our guests while they did the cooking, service and clean up. Amazing! read more

Irene catered my bat mitzvah and it was AWESOME. Everything was delicious and everyone loved the 'tacos,' noodles and rice bar. My parents were very happy too because they loved Irene and everyone who helped out on the day of the party. Thank you so much! read more

Saffron 59 catered our wedding. We were looking for a caterer that specialized in Southeast Asian cuisine, since my wife's family is Filipino. We wanted dishes that represented her culture and would introduce my family to the awesomeness that is Filipino cuisine. We both work in the restaurant business, so our expectations for the food were pretty exacting. Leili, Irene and Chef Kimberly did a phenomenal job putting together a menu that appealed to all palates. At our wedding, guests repeatedly told us "It was the best wedding food they'd ever had!" In addition to putting together an amazing menu, Saffron did a great job with our event design. Our theme was "rustic / romantic" and the reception was held at the Dumbo Loft, a raw, industrial type of place. We told them our vision, and when we arrived to the reception, it was exactly as we'd pictured it. The biggest standout part of our reception was the service. Irene made sure that we had a server dedicated specifically to us (we had a sweetheart table). She was incredibly attentive, making sure that we never had an empty plate or glass- so important, since so many of our married friends told us they barely at at their own weddings. Overall, Saffron 59 was a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend them for your wedding or other social event!! read more

Chef Wong does an amazing job at catering special events. I went to a special event at the Museum of Chinese in America which Saffron catered and the food was excellent. I loved the whole cooked Red Snapper and delicious lo mein noodles as well as the many appetizers passed around during cocktail hour. If you want asian food for your event I highly recommend Saffron 59. read more

Saffron59 really came through with a beautiful array of foods for our wedding. We asked for a lot in one evening, and they worked with us to make sure we were happy. The chef was lovely and creative, and came up with some beautiful food concepts that brought our two cultures together. We asked for an abundance of food, and they delivered despite the fact that we over-estimated for our guest list. They were super organized the night of, and went above and beyond to make it special. They even pulled if off in the tiniest room, with very little kitchen supplies. We thank Irene and her team so much for helping us with a night we will never forget. read more

Chef Wong catered our wedding a few weeks ago. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. She took care of all of the food and the staff and put us completely at ease. Saffron 59 would be great for any small or large event you're planning-particularly if you want to impress your friends with the grace and flow of a well catered party with beautifully executed Thai and Malaysian dishes. read more

Irene, Leili and her entire staff make planning a successful party so simple. The food is always so perfectly plated but beyond delicious. I ALWAYS get at least one or two dumplings orders. Irene always help me decide how to organize a perfectly balanced menu, while taking our dietary restrictions and preferences into consideration. They make many options that are gluten free and on the lighter, healthier side. They make everything simple by having a unique visual presentation everything ready for the first guest to arrive. Also, after an initial phone call, I can organize a highly successful party all via emails. Even better is after, the kitchen is spotless and there are some yummy leftovers hiding in the fridge. The staff who arrive are fun, professional, and attentive: important when you have strangers in your home. We can't recommend Saffron59 enough. We have used them for over 14 years, for parties large and small. read more

We recently worked with Saffron 59 to cater a Golden Globes cocktail party, and were very happy with the turn out. Not only was the staff extremely friendly and very tentative, but the food was delicious! (I highly recommend the pumpkin ravioli!!) The delicious smells of on site cooking, food display, serving staff and mouth-watering foods, all made this an easy and stress free catering experience. I really feel as if they went above and beyond and I'm looking forward to working with them again! Thank you Saffron 59. read more

Nearly 5 years later and our friends still rave about the food from our wedding! Irene and her staff worked with us (and our budget) to perfect a buffet menu that combined dishes that represented our Indian and Vietnamese heritages. Outside of the catering aspect, Irene helped us navigate the logistics of party planning in the city, as we were out-of-towners attempting to hold a wedding in Brooklyn. Despite the craziness that ensued at our wedding, Irene and her staff calmly and professionally made sure the event ran smoothly. Thank you Irene and Saffron 59 for a memorable event! read more

We recently tasked Saffron 59 to put together a special Lunar New Year dinner for 100 guest at a museum. Given the short notice, Irene delivered on everything we asked for. Irene worked with the museum staff and created the perfect Lunar New Year menu with traditional Chinese dishes while adding a modern touch to it. She also coordinated all the necessary rentals from tables, chairs, linens, glassware, etc. for this special event. Everything was perfect from the delicious food to the outstanding wait-staff! Saffron 59 was a joy to work with in planning my daughter's graduation open house party. With 7-8 appetizers served by lovely friendly staff. Like a family. Words cannot express how grateful my husband and I are to Irene and her team at Saffron 59. They were a joy to work with throughout our wedding planning process. On our big night, my husband and I did not have to worry about a thing. With the evening under the consummate care of Saffron 59, my husband and I were able to focus on having fun and soaking in the wonderful memories that were being made. The Saffron 59 team wowed our guests with their pan-Asian menu and personable service. Saffron 59 was an easy decision for us. At our first meeting, the tasting menu items were delicious and much more interesting than your typical wedding banquet fare. The price point was also very reasonable. Irene came across as a true professional. She was passionate about her craft and signature style, but also very attentive to our own vision. She struck a great balance of listening to us, helping us articulate and refine what we had in mind, and making recommendations to give our wedding that special Saffron 59 touch. From that first meeting onward, Irene and her team's commitment to excellence never wavered. My husband and I wanted a wedding that would blend cultures and fuse our contemporary sensibilities with traditions that resonate with us as a same-sex couple with family ties to various parts of the world. Irene and her team helped us to realize that dream. It was a real delight to work with them. On our wedding day, Saffron 59 executed the event with attentiveness, precision, and warmth from start to finish. They set up our loft-space venue beautifully and helped us to transition seamlessly from one part of the evening to another--from our pre-ceremony refreshments to our exchange of vows, and then to cocktail hour, our Chinese tea ceremony, and dinner reception. The food and service were truly top-notch. In the weeks following our wedding, many friends and family made it point to tell us how much they enjoyed their culinary experience at our wedding. Several guests even told us that it was the best wedding meal they had ever had. While our wedding is obviously special and meaningful in and of itself, Saffron 59 made the night all the more memorable. We recommend Saffron 59 wholeheartedly! read more

Saffron 59 provided food, drinks and service for a party of 30 in our home on January 21, 2012. Saffron went over the menu, wines, service arrangements, staffing and everything with us beforehand, and they were most responsive to our wishes. For example, they agreed to serve a birthday cake we ordered from elsewhere. The evening turned out to be a total delight. We received enthusiastic comments from nearly every guest praising the quality and variety of the fare. The unusual hors d'oeuvres were to die for, a genuine highlight. The selection of wines perfectly complemented the food. The Saffron 59 staff were charming, efficient and unfailingly attentive to detail. They made us and our guests feel comfortable and relaxed. They were outstanding. Many of our guests have asked for and received Saffron 59's contact information. We unreservedly give Saffron 59 our highest recommendation. read more

Saffron59 catered my husband's 50th birthday party and did an amazing job feeding 40 people. The food was delicious, inventive, and very popular with the guests; the staff very professional; and Irene, Leili and everyone else very easy to communicate with during the planning stage. By coincidence Irene had catered the weddings of not one but two different guests at our party, which only amplifies our recommendation.
