I like everything I've ordered from Saffron. The butter chicken is good and spiced to liking. The order for delivery and take out is much more plentiful than the eat in size. I've had a couple pizzas delivered and they were good and came hot. This time around we tried the lasagne and ribs and were pleasantly surprised. So I went to Saffron in 2019 and had Butter Chicken so sweet I didn't eat it and left. (No one asked me if another dish might suit me better.) Six years later my wife and I decided to try again. Me: I was here years ago and I found the dish I ate too sweet. Is it possible to get my food without sugar? Sweet Waitress What was the dish? Me: I think it was Butter Chicken Sweet: There's no sugar in our Butter Chicken. It's made with tomato paste, ketchup... Me: (after she had finished listing ingredients.) Ketchup is almost pure sugar. I've been eating Indian cuisine for the large part of two centuries and in many cities on two continents. I cook northern and southern Indian dishes. I've taken classes, have several cookbooks and subscribe to the better you tube channels (I recommend Swasthi's.) Ketchup is not an ingredient in Indian food. I asked if there was ketchup in several other dishes and was basically told that the Korma was my best and only choice. There was ketchup even in the tandoori chicken. (There is an exception. There is a little chopped onion salad that is often made with either tomato chutney or ketchup.) Korma is a light sauce usually made with yoghurt and maybe a little cream. This was thickened with flour. So much flour that it reminded me of the time I tasted the paste in nursery school. The best word to describe it is "glop." To the many people who wrote rave reviews I beg you to take the ferry to the city and go to one of the many fabulous Indian restaurants there. Swad in West Vancouver is closest and the best. Vij's is amazing but very pricey. Sula and East is East are both terrific and you will pay the same as Saffron, maybe a tad less. My wife had the dahl. A lentil dish. It had a very strong flavour of...you guessed it---ketchup. We asked and, yes, it was, in fact, ketchup. The service was lovely. The naan bread was very good. Neither of them contained ketchup. Best pizzas and Butter Chicken in Sechelt! We ordered six pizzas a few hours in advance for pick up, they were ready on time and were delicious. Staff were pleasant and efficient. On a separate visit, we had Indian food including butter chicken and lamb vindaloo -- sooo good! Clean and casual atmosphere, and attentive staff. We will be back for sure. read more

Really great food for take away, though the korma was a little different than my wife was looking for (and she's had korma 500 times). I had something marked as "seriously spicy". That is not an exaggeration. Very hot on night one and tear inducing on night two. Just what I expected and not at all like most Canadian Indian restaurants that play it safe. I would only comment that the prices were high, with three dishes and an order of samosas setting us back about $70. read more

Didn't sample much of the menu as I was looking for a lightish lunch and I had heard the owners were of Indian decent I stayed in that genre ordering the homemade lentil soup and pakoras. My only bit of criticism was the amount of salt they were tossed in was a little excessive but as it turned out I was having a beer so it wasn't anything but an excuse to order a second sudsy beverage. We (for restaurants such as this) always for sure get pakora and a pizza plus some other stuff. I didn't care for the tandoori pizza but my picky son did like it. This was the best butter chicken I've ever tried. The pakora was excellent. I thought it would be good based on other reviews and was not disappointed. 'Complaints' in reviews seem to centre on, "It's more expensive." This means 13.95 instead of 11.95 - this is one of those 'you get what you pay for' things. Saffron multi-cultural cuisine offers tasty Indian food as well as fabulous pizza. Pasta, ribs and burgers complete the menu. Try the Thali: a sampling of three different Indian dishes served with fluffy basmati rice and fresh naan. Only downside: Saffron does not serve dark beer. My wife and I love this restaurant. The staff is unfailingly friendly, and we've always enjoyed everything we've ordered from their large menu. Apparently the lady who started the business shared her cooking with friends, and it became so popular, people started calling to ask if they could order it. Eventually she had no choice but to open an actual restaurant--and they've been there ever since, and done very well. If you enter the mall anywhere along its north side, odds are you'll catch a whiff of their delicious food. Highly recommended. read more

The food was quite salty and not much flavour. On the cheque, the plain (with no protein) Saag was the same price as the dish with paneer / meat. I questioned the server (as it had been recommended this way... so just the sauce). I was palmed off with an 'I guess so', and did not get anywhere. I followed up with the other staff, and was told the take away portions are bigger so that was why it was charged this way. I advised I had eaten in... and was just given an 'oh'. I tried to find resolution, but was unable. Totally veggie meals - 1 x channa masala, 1x plain saag (with papapadums on the side) and the meal was over $35....over $40 with a tip. Kind of crazy for what we got! We could easily go elsewhere and get better for much less. Very disappointing! Very poor value for money! Restaurant staff not empowered to help or interested! We had an excellent takeout dinner from Saffron during our trip to the Sunshine coast. Easy ordering for via the website and everything was ready at the time we requested. The food was flavourful and spiced to perfection. I had a mixed veggie curry and I was expecting the usual orange goop that passes for curry at many Indian restaurants but this was not that at all. So yummy! My partner's butter chicken pizza was also very good but the best part of the meal was the dulce de leche cheesecake wrapped in a tortilla. Omg. So much awesome! read more

OMGoodness!!!!!! YUMMY!!!!! My 90yo mother & I just had lunch there today (she ordered Masala Prawn Bowl; I had the Achari Fish Bowl). Mom doesn't eat much these days but she polished off her entire bowl plus some Naan bread! I thought I had died & gone to heaven with the taste of the Achari Fish Bowl!!!!! I did bring some leftover home. We were seated in a private booth, very comfortable & service was lovely! If you like East Indian food, please support this restaurant. We went in for date night on Friday. I've always been a fan of Saffron, but wow they've made some menu changes that make it a top pick for us dining out. I've had the Masala Prawn Bowl and it was indescribably good, but wanted to change things up so chose the Fire Grilled Lamb Chops. These were easily the best lamb chops I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, easy to eat, and not so spicy the flavour of the meat was obliterated like at many restaurants. The rice and vegetables that accompanied them were delicious and I ended up bringing some home. We also had the Aloo Tiki as a starter, and the sweet & sour tamarind sauce really makes this dish. Saffron also makes *real* chai, unsweetened (you can add honey). I had just come from a massage and really wanted a meal that would maintain the zen for the evening, and Saffron delivered. read more

This restaurant is an absolute treasure. I've never eaten anything so delightfully flavourful and beautifully presented. It's a must go to restaurant when in Sechelt. The service is good and atmosphere is pleasant. Only thing is the restaurant needs to be in a different location. One doesn't equate fabulous food at a shopping mall restaurant. I suppose we are spoiled living next to so many good Indian restaurants in the lower mainland BC that this restaurant's flavours fall flat. Pakoras were a generous portion but lacked flavour and variety. The butter chicken at medium spice was so pale with all the cream it lacked flavour and was quite funny in consistency . The chicken vindaloo was also runny and the only flavour there was heat. Sadly the chai disappointed as well, couldn't even taste a hint of cardamom but more like very mild flavoured milk:/ The bonus is its good enough, and for a delivery fee they will bring it you. However the seafood coconut curry at the Lighthouse pub was a million times more flavourful than these dishes from Saffron. read more

On vacation on the Sunshine Coast, we chose Saffron for a dinner out in Sechelt. We were in the mood for Indian food and despite the eclectic "multicultural" menu, there were some good choices. The highlight was the Aloo Tiki starter: very flavourful with a variety of crunch and spice and sweetness. We also both ordered a chai and it was really good! We shared the chicken & prawn tikka and the chicken coconut curry with naan. The flavours and spices were good, but just a couple small differences from really good Indian food. The naan was hot and fresh but more like pita bread and not like naan made in the tandoor oven. The chicken tikka as well was like Indian flavoured chicken breast rather than tikka in chunks from a skewer prepared in tandoor oven. The coconut curry was good and the prawns were nice and prepared just right (not overcooked). I think I'm just spoiled by variety in the big city. But the food here is good and I would return when I'm back in town. Service is friendly and efficient, too. read more

Great Indian food! Not a fan of their pizza but their Indian food is pure and authentic and the butter chicken and pakoras are my family's favourite. I love that I can drop $100 on our meal and have left overs for the next day! Their mango chutney is excellent and would love to purchase that by the bucket load!
