First don't EVER buy their "fresh" garlic bread the one I got was riddled with mold and smelt awful. I should have known it was going to be questionable by the fact that a bread lathered in butter, garlic, and cheese is sitting on a shelf and not in a fridge. How old was it? Makes me not want to buy anything from their bakery. Secondly I have never dealt with such rude staff before. I had to go their late at night to get my son formula. He can only have a certain kind and one lady told me to ask the lady on the register to look up if they had any in stock. After waiting in line she told me, word for word "go get it yourself". I don't quite think she understood what I was asking because she barely spoke English, but I will not get over how rude she was. This location is so pathetic! They close the doors during open hours with hand written notes on the door saying they're closed. The employees are the most inconsiderate incompetent people anywhere. While shopping, I proceed to the register to pay and there's not a single register open. I had to return a jar of jelly because the one I purchased said Oct 17th. Thi sis about the 5th time I've dealt with exported goods on shelves. Also, most people like to grab an item from the back so it has a longer expiration date, not so here, many times the back stock is older than what's in front. Back to the jelly - when I returned it the customer service rep was very rude. As I explained to her that many items on shelves are earlier than "sell by" date, she acted like I was being bothersome to her. She never did apologize, I felt like my business was not appreciated. The store doesn't staff enough people. The deli department is a mess. I went to order a sandwich once, nobody was in line but I waited for 29 minutes before walking out. The employee said she was working on a phone order. Then on another occasion I went to buy some sliced meat and they didn't have any sliced so they made me wait in the sandwich line. The blonde lady at the pharmacy waited about 5 minutes before she even greeted me. Then rudely told me that they don't have the product I was looking for. She immediately turned her back to me and started walking away. When I asked for something comparable she replied "I don't know what's in it" and kept walking away. Terrible customer service. This is a common place I shop at. I like shopping here. I never have any problems, and someone is always there to help when I need it or not. I think they could open up more registers to ring up their customers, but other than that, this place satisfies my grocery lists. Time to time all of us we are facing some situations when your friends or acquaintances going to visit us unexpectedly. I've got back home in about 2am but next day my friends should stop by. My refrigerator wasn't stuffed by drinks and snacks and I decided to fill it immediately. The only one open grocery store in the town at that time was certainly Safeway. Yes it was stuffed by paletes with boxes and the team was working hard but all of them were friendly, attentive, and tried to advise and help me with my shopping. Worst service at the Deli. Plan on waiting since in most cases it takes awhile to be acknowledged. Today a girl from the bakery had to come over & help me. All I wanted were 2 pieces of fried chicken, a leg & a thigh. She didn't know what a leg or thigh piece of chicken looked like...WHAT??!!!! Great Friday specials and weekly coupon, but I find myself going here less frequently because of the poor customer service. The self check out line absolutely sucks and frequently screws up my transactions. I also feel like the hound me for donations all the time... Stop forcing your employees to badger customers for donations. You're doing it for the tax breaks and not because you're philanthropic... I like Safeway because they have good fruits and veggies! I feel as though they're short staffed often times, especially at night, which isn't fun because of the long lines. Their staff are friendly for the most part, sometimes when I come here and have questions on where things are they don't know either or they seem like they don't care. They have a club card which gives you good deals on whatever they have on sale that day, you can use your phone number or the actual card to get the discount. They also partner with some Chevron's to give you rewards on the money you spend on gas. read more

Super rude! I bought a cake from the bakery for my daughter's baby shower. On of the bakers asked a gentleman to ring me up, and he did. Stood there and waited until I looked at the register to see the amount I owe, apparently he was busy I was bothering him needing to be rung up. So he didn't need to tell me what was owing for the cake, I could figure that out for myself. Just not what I expected, the Baker who asked him to ring me up was super nice. Customer service is lacking. Cashiers I've dealt with here usually have vacant stares with almost no verbal exchange. Lines tend to be long and the parking lot can be a beast at times. Went there for larger grocery shopping and didn't see a huge margin of savings compared to a nugget or raleys. After my two visits at this safeway, I'm going to stick to nugget and avoid that whole experience over again. But not all safeways are bad. Sierra college blvd. I've always had good experiences at the Safeway the only reason I give it four stars is because of the tightness in the aisles and sometimes the floral isn't the freshest but the people are kind. The store is clean but the problem I have encountered the last 3 visits is that nothing in their hot food case is ever stocked. We have been in 3 times around the dinner time hour and have found nothing hot to purchase. No chicken, which they offer as a special, no sides etc. If you have a hot food case you should stock it especially during lunch and dinner time. read more

As a long time Vacaville resident I've always found this store to be hit or miss with regards to service over the years but lately it's horrible. I was the only one waiting to order deli meat/cheese but because there were three customers at the sand which counter I had to wait a good 10 minutes. At check out stand, the checker was very nice but the courtesy clerks were nowhere to be found. I had a largish order and had brought my own bags (7) and ended up bagging my own. I went to the in store Starbucks on my way out. 1 person ahead of me was in process of buying a gift card. A new clerk came to work and the clerk working on the gift card purchase left in the middle of the transactions without explaining anything to the new clerk. Problems ensued with transaction, they had to get a customer service rep...during this whole process not one employee looks up at the growing line and acknowledges anyone. I was going to give up but decided to see how long this could. They fixed the transaction mishap 10 minutes later. My turn( yeah) and they the employee says to me, I need you to wait I have to do dishes first and I mean all the dishes. Another 10 minutes and she makes my coffee. What gets me is even the customer Service Counter Rep who I would think was higher up was not customer service oriented. It took me almost 2 hours from start to finish to get groceries. bag my own groceries and cup of coffee. read more

I love this store, specifically their Floral Department! I live in Walnut Creek - and our local Safeway florist is good, but Vacaville's is better(!), and when I need something special to give as a floral gift, this is easily my go-to place. You can find something very lovely and not have to spend a fortune, like you would at the florist. This past weekend, Angel helped us. She is awesome!! She put together nine gifts (!) for us of very lovely Christmas plants - adding special bows, and adorned with Christmas-y picks. The flowering plants were healthy hydrangias in white with full blooms, and simply stunning on their own, but with her touches, they were over-the-top lovely - and the recipients were all thrilled!! Go see Angel in Floral - she is wonderful - and just a nice lady to work with! I will be going back again! read more

I have been a customer at this store for more than twenty years . The deli service has always been slow and I have left without deli goods because I grew tired of waiting. Lately this slow service has reached a new low, no service. I have left without deli food Twice in the past week because there was nobody there! Yes, they were open. Tonight was the last straw. There was one young lady slicing something and there were no other customers. A young man vanished into the back and the young lady continued slicing as I continued to wait. I finally left. This is not a question of understaffing. It is a question of poor supervision and poor judgement in hiring. I don't know what safeway is doing, but it isn't working. I love Safeway because it's close to my house and has the best deals. However, I'm going to give this store 2 stars because it seems like every time I shop there something shady happens. One time I was checking out and my gallon of milk was leaking, they had the bagging employee get me a new one. He brought back the same one and only wiped it down so when I got home it had leaked all over my car. I called and the manager offered me a new milk but when I went back they acted like they didn't know anything about it. Another time I was checking out and one of their cashiers wouldn't let me put in my own phone number for my point rewards. Lets me honest, we all love Safeway for gas points on groceries you already buy. When I told her I had my own number she said oh it's fine there is already a number in the system for the deals. I had to go back and have them give me the points to my own account after talking to the manager about the incident. Most recently, they have a deal going on if you buy $12 of a certain product you get a free movie ticket to see Trolls. I bought $12 of the product and when I was checking out the movie ticket didn't print. When I talked to customer service they didn't even know about the promotion (weird, since it had been going on for over a week now) and then she told me she couldn't reprint one but could give me a Safeway gift card for the price of a movie ticket. I said okay and then she proceeded to help the next person and never gave me the gift card! My son was crying by this point so I just said forget it and left. So do I enjoy Safeway and their offers and promotions, 100% yes, but for whatever reason this store continues to cause me more trouble than it's worth. read more
