This review is for the deli department. The store itself is fine and clean. Because my kids like the chicken there, it's where I go. But I really hate going, because I know if that one lady is there, she just takes the joy out of your day. The customer service is the WORST! I've had to wait there while two employees yap and then barely greets you. The one I'm talking about is the one with the glasses, dark hair, looks like she just woke up. Never a smile and only speaks if she absolutely has to. I wanted to pay there, but she just walked away and did her other job even though I asked if I could pay there. This is a minimum of 5 times! Please put her in the back and have someone else greet your customers. There was only 1 time that I had a good experience there. It was a hispanic girl probably in her mid tweties. Super nice and helpful, that was my first experience at that deli, then it was downhill from there with Debby downer. Even the other workers there know the deli has issues with customer service. I've told my kids they will have to pick another chicken place cause I don't need to put up with that. read more

I came in to get a bagel and all of the bagels were super hard, so instead I decided to get a sandwich and all of the produce is really disgusting all of the tomatoes were dry and the pepperchinies were turning white and the bread was crumbing nor she didn't even know how to cut the bread I had to ask her to recut it. I love Safeway. This place has everything I need and everything I want. The service is decent and you can quickly find help. Words of the wise; leaving the parking lot can be hard especially during peak hours 5-7. The lines are long during holidays The self checkout can be managed better. It's only one line of you need help. The price is a little high for certain items but you can easily find good deals. read more

I just want to write a good review in the mix of all this crazy corona virus scare. My mom went last week to go get distilled water for my dads machine and they were completely out and so she asked a guy named Carlos ( she thinks he was a manager) if they had any in the back. Sadly they didn't but he called Prunedale Safeway and they had 2 left. Carlos had them bring it and he surprised my mom and gave them to her free of charge. He was going to even bring it to her house if they couldn't get it in time. I want to say thank you so much Carlos for your amazing customer service and hospitality! This place has everything you need in a grocery store. It even has a Starbucks. We had no problem finding the organic produce we needed. The cashier was friendly (although when visiting from out of state, we don't carry grocery bags with us and we got charged for bags!) One thing that struck me is that I saw 4-5 people in the store run into someone they knew in the community. There were hugs, conversations, it was really cool to see community like that in the local grocery store. read more

I love safeway, but this store is a pain in the ass if you try to use coupons! They treat you as if you are trying to rip them off or something!! I was over charged and they are denying that they did! There's a price accuracy policy, I will talk to the manager and demand that I get the right price. I went today around 11:30 ish, bought a box of k cups and left my wallet on the starbucks counter. My son and I went straight to the seafood department and when I tried to pay, I noticed I didn't have my wallet, so we went back to Starbucks and it was gone.The manager said she was going to look at their cameras but according to her, the cameras don't have a good view of that area. Really? I feel helpless, really don't care about the wallet but the documents I have in there. I'm extremely disappointed, definitely won't be going back to Safeway. read more

Horrible experience after waiting in line for 10 min to pay for our turkeys when we finally made it to check out cashier pull me and my husband to the side because one of the turkeys didnt had a tag so she ask for us to wait while onother staff member goes and looks for the tag. I like this supermarket. It has everything, and Starbucks. They carry most lines of food, and they have great sales. Decent selection of wines and spirits. A nice flower area, with a super talented staff to put your bouquets together. You can make money orders here and I believe it's western union. As far as staff goes they are mostly all super friendly and go out of their way to help. I've never had an issue with anyone there. The store is clean, and everything is in order. Purchased two turkey, bacon, and AVOCADO sandwiches today. Very, very disappointed. Please enlighten the deli manager & employees that WHOLLY GUACAMOLE is not the same as avocado and employees need to stop using it as such. One more thing, lettuce is supposed to be kept cool. There was a produce box of lettuce next to the big toaster oven and that lettuce was being used on the sandwiches. Really? I should have canceled my order but think I was still dumbfounded by the weird couple in the parking lot selling tee shirts out of their trunk, harassing people, and using their microphone to broadcast. I come to safeway a few times per week. Today I went for baked potato soup from the deli. The soup was out, so I kindly waited in line and asked the lady at deli, Sarah, if she could please refill the soup. She looked at me and said no because we close the deli at 8. Um excuse me. No. It was 5PM. What made the issue worse was that I also came the night before and asked the lady working if she could refill the soup. She had a long line of customers, but assured me she would refill it shortly. It was also 5pm. I think Sarah was lazy and extremely unprofessional. She clearly told me deli closes at 8, so why would you stop serving good at 5pm? Unacceptable. Customer service has gone down hill, big time. read more

I went in to the deli to grab a couple sandwiches for my family, I walked in at a non busy time and was standing there while someone was getting helped, there was a young white female with red glasses and green eyes that was bagging meat, all the while she turns around rolls her eyes , sighs loudly and comes to place gloves on. She has a rude attitude and asks " what I want?" not " hello what may I get for you " just a bland what do I want. Her demeanor didn't change and she was extremely bland sighing every time I asked for all 3 of my sandwiches at the end she just placed my sandwiches on the top of the glass and turned around and did not ring me up. I asked if she was able to she completely ignored me. I'm not sure if that's how she always is or if this was just to me, I did not appreciate the service and will not be going back to this Safeway. If you are going to have Self Checkouts where half of them do not work you need to hire more cashiers. Because there has not been a savings on your prices by reducing your staff. I will say this though, I have no problem taking my business elsewhere if you continue to having staffing levels so low that there are mines backing up into the aisles while only having two registers open on a weekend day! read more

Watch out when you're checking out! I had my jeans torn in checkout lane 5. The managers gave me such a hard time about this to the point of being called a liar. So I went in today 7/27/17 and they "fixed" the metal piece by slapping duct tape over it. Omg it's still a safety issue. Please be careful while in line. read more

I love buying food!! Safeway is not the best place for price or quickness. Never go here on a Friday from 4pm to 5pm, too many people trying to shop and the Wells Fargo inside just makes it more busy feeling. I usually do my grocery shopping at this location only because i literally live walking distance and their seafood department is provided fresh fish. However, Safeway is pricey and their customer service isn't so great. I agree with everyone else that made comments about the long lines...I rather do the self checkout is usually faster. Lately I've been disappointed because the last three shopping trips I've made I've been coming home to expired items, I don't understand why... I always see people stocking shelves. We shop at Safeway a lot but we went to buy donuts there. We opened the door to the donuts and there were so many fruit flies surrounding the donuts inside. So if you're thinking of getting donuts from Safeway make sure there's no flies before you get them and make sure to rethink your choice. read more

Even though this Safeway is my go to spot my review is particularly for the white man with slick back medium length hair usually working in the morning/afternoon in the self check out line. He is ALWAYS rude to me. He will never go out of his way to tell me to have a good day and even though he will tell everyone else but besides the fact today in particular really bothered me. I needed a bag in the self check out line and I was polite and asked for one even though this man is rude to me. The man behind happened to ask for something right after. So instead of attending to someone who asked for help first he spoke right over me and told the man what he could help him with and asked him how many bags he needed, didn't even ask me or care to know what I needed help with. On top of that he proceeded to help another lady right after. So instead of waiting on him I had to go grab a bag myself even though he gave the man a bag right next to me. I hate going to self check out when this man is working. I don't even know him and he has an issue. He acts like he is so upbeat but he is actually very rude to people. I live very close to this Safeway. I drive completely out of my way to go to Constitution. Funny, I'm not the only one who said that. I asked about differences at both locations and got same response, "Different Clientele". I don't see a big difference in the shoppers. Especially if people travel from one to the other. I think the difference is in the attitudes of the employees. Also Constitution is probably newer and cleaner. read more

Very dissatisfied. Cashier Maria H was not helpful and quite rude when I realized I didn't have my club card on me, so couldn't get deals I loaded onto my just for me app. I asked if the app has my card number in which she seemed frustrated and said no, I have to call customer service. Come to find out, the app DOES have the card number (in More.. Feedback).. When I told her I have it now, she made me get back into line behind a long line. If i could give no stars i would. The only reason they deserve 1 star is because the manager remedied the horrible exoerience. We had the worst deli sandwich counter experience imaginable. First of all the clerk let me try the pesto. Then she put the SamE KNIFE back into the pesto after i tried it with my fonger...why we did not ealk out then, idk. Anyway my husband asked for a sandwich with honey mustard which she could not find. I know no big deal but THEN she dropped half of my sandwich on the ground. Had we not seen it she would have put the sandwich back together! She didnt wash her hands after touching the floor and the trash can she started to make a new sandwich. At that point we walked away. The manager was quick to give us free sandwiches but we were too disgustwd to use them she assured the clerk would be trained and reprimanded. I would no recommend this store to my worse enemy. The staff there is very unfriendly and make you feel like you're bothering them when asking for help. Espi in particular, overcharged me and got mad when I brought it to her attention. She yelled at me that she was with a customer when I went back to ask for my money back. I live closer to this Safeway. But I rarely go here. Not as organized as other Safeway on Constitution. Alot more people in this one as well. No real problems but I prefer Safeway on Constitution. The parking lot is always full afraid I am going to get hit or hit somebody pulling out of space. So I park next to Jamba Juice. read more

safeway, in my opinion, is overpriced but definitely the safest place to buy meats. (if you find the cut of meat you like, the butcher will even cut/ground it the way you like!) so for meats.... safeway is the safe bet! read more

I purchased a wedding cake for my cousin's wedding. Safeway was far cheaper than everywhere else in town. We got a cake for 150 for $300. It was super cute too. Not the fanciest, but definitely great for a budget wedding. The best part...it was delicious! People were shocked to hear it was from Safeway. The only negative is that they don't deliver, but that also saves you the $75+ most places in salinas charge to deliver. read more
