The manager working right now 4/18 at 10:40 must not understand customer service because he expected me to wait 10 minutes for him since the store either priced something wrong or they restocked it in the wrong location. He took so long. I had time to go get a different item because I was so unsatisfied with how he was handling the situation. A nice grocery store in South Salinas that has basically everything you need. The butcher who helped us on the particular day that we came was super friendly. He cut something up exactly how we wanted and was so nice. We also signed up for their membership and clipped a coupon off in the moment that took off $10 from our $25+ purchase which was awesome. read more

This is the face of an employee who showed zero customer service skills and lacked integrity. We've been loyal customers for over 30 years. We had already paid for our cupcakes, but the bakery staff failed to mark it down on their end. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, the employee and bakery manager Yolanda gave us a hard time when we came to pick up our order. We had to go all the way to the front and speak with the store manager who looked at our bank statement and confirmed we had paid. To make matters worse, the bakery department still messed up our order. We'll continue shopping at Nob Hill, but this kind of service shouldn't be acceptable. Train your staff better. read more

Normal groceries are fine if not a little on the expensive side for some things. My main complaint here is the deli section that does the salad and chicken - its appalling they make like chicken tenders and then let it sit in there all day and turn the tenders into rocks. How are you guys still able to sell that? By changing the name to chicken strips? You dont have to abide to the tenderness? 5 out 10 times I might get some good bits, other times I just leave. Then when I doordash its worse, theres no QA on that and they leave the rocks in there to sell to anyone. Eat the loss and dont sell the rocks ffs. read more

The security guard literally followed me and my friend around the last 10 minutes of being open and made us feel like we were stealing. He then said we have 6 minutes and I said okay. He kept following us really close, trying to intimidate us. I don't know if it was because my friend and I are Latina but we felt very uncomfortable. Then after 1 min he said they were closed and we needed to leave immediately. I told him you just said we have6 minutes as we hurried to the front and he said 'yeah well that's not how that works' and proceeded to mock us and laugh and tell his coworker about it at the door right in front of us. This was very unprofessional and unprovoked behavior and made me not want to come back for fear i might be accused of stealing just because the security is having a bad day. read more

I've always had great service from all the( usually long term) employees at this wonderful clean and well stocked grocery. What prompted me to write this review is the kind personal concern I've received from Rachel. This wonderful clerk has helped me on two occasions( once when I was barely functional because of a broken wrist) with setting up the Raleys app on my phone. She really went out of her way to help me a tech challenged senior. The people who work here( especially Rachel) are always so personable. They really make the shopping experience more than just a daily chore. They turn it into a wonderful example of what I like to refer to as the " human connection ". read more

Monday I went into the store to do some shopping. I was picking up some doughnuts for my granddaughters and I got a couple of things for myself. I have severe arthritis in my left hip and while I was in the store I had a sharp pain in my groin area due to the swelling from my hip. It was so painful I could hardly walk and this bagger named Darren practically carried me out to my car. All I could do was cry, that's how much pain I was in. Darren is very special to me. He does things like bringing a shopping cart to my car when he sees me. You see I'm a disabled veteran and I use an assistive device to walk. He not only does that he also meets me in the isles when I need to get a case of water or he'll show me pictures of things that he drew and poems that he wrote for every single holiday. Even when he's having a bad day he still goes out of his way to help people, and carries a smile on his face. He loves life and he loves his job. He's humble and kind. Usually I have great things to say about NHF, however I purchased meat that said Sell by the 21st. When we unwrapped it to use it on the morning of the 21st to throw it out on our smoker,) it was slightly grey and was starting to smell rancid. I threw it into a bag and then into the freezer, to return the next day, but it smelled so bad I didn't want to put it in our car to drive it to the store. I ended up taking a photo and then throwing out $20 tri-tip into the garbage. Needless to say, I'm a little bitter about this. read more

She took the time not only to double check my order for lemon bars but personally called me to let me know they were ready for pick up. It was a tricky order and I was worried that they might not arrive in time for my event but they were ready earlier than anticipated and delicious. I just called and talked to a woman twice in the last half hour and the customer service number she gave me was for a phone sex operator... when I called back and let her know the number wasn't for customer service she said "yeah I know". She gave me so much attitude about the fact that she gave me a fake number. I told her I just wanted to call her and let her know the number was compromised and she just said she knew and was wanting to know what I wanted. She made it so clear she wasn't going to help me and I can't believe she had the audacity to give me a number for a sex operator, what is wrong with you. It was poor customer service but what made the one star was there security it was a younger guy he literally followed me through the whole store I was shopping groceries for one hour the whole time he was right behind me he would literally standby the aisle waiting for me to go the next!!! You would think for the prices they charge they would be selling fresh produce that wasn't completely molded. Last night I purchased 9 dollars in fruit (aka 2 mangos and a little tub of berries) and ended up only being able to eat about half of it and that's because I picked around the moldy berries. All the blackberries tasted moldy and there was visible mold on many of the raspberries and blueberries. The mangos were completely brown and nasty around the pit. Completely inedible. I lived in Salinas 17 years. This was my favorite supermarket even though not the closest one to my home. All my born-and-raised Salinas friends preferred the Star Market across the street. But I never saw the merit in their opinions. Nob hill selection in all departments is more vast and the quality of the meats and produce is superior. read more

I just left this location with the worst feeling in my stomach. I only had a few items so I went through self check out. The employee supervising the area was hovering over my shoulder watching me like I was going to steal something, I asked her for a bag and she said not to begin bagging until I had paid for my items in a rude tone. This rating is mostly caused by the great service I always receive here. I assume it will change drastically in the near future as they have added self checkout. Most stores that have that keep a minimum of real check stands open so you are forced to do it yourself! If I want to do it myself I will go to a discount store such as food max, I go to Raleys for service. I refuse to use self check and if I find the number of available checkers reduced as they do at Luckys, which I give a one star rating, in Marina I will just leave my full cart and walk out. read more

I really love shopping for groceries here because it is always so clean and the shelves are always si well kept. The food is always fresh and I always check the date on items when I shop and I must admit I have yet to find an expired item on their shelf. I am famous for bringing expired items up to the checkout stand but I have never had to do this here. And you will find the staff is always so friendly and helpful. Had a nice experience today. I typically find this grocery store unorganized and unfriendly, however my cashier today was super friendly and all the staff and guests were chatting about the earthquake we just felt. The bagger, Sara, was all smiles and did a great job bagging my items quickly before she darted off to help another register. I rely on curbside pickup during covid-19. Nob Hill is far better than Safeway, however it seems like not one person looks at the produce I have ordered before sticking it in my cart. My produce is almost always on its last day of life. I have gone home multiple times missing bags of paid groceries and have had to go back the next day. I have received products that have already gone bad multiple times. And it seems like they do not come out in order of who has arrived first. I often come and I'm the only car in the curbside pickup area, and send the message that I am there. Often I sit and watch the employees come out and serve a minimum of three cars before they get to me. The cars that have pulled up after me. Very frustrating with a toddler in the car. I wish I could go inside myself but this is not an option as my health is high risk during a pandemic. read more
