Just when you think Lucky on South Main couldn't get any worse, damn if they don't! In their ad this week they have 8 piece fried or roasted chicken. Go and order the 8 piece roasted chicken and was told that the manager told the deli people to NOT make any roasted chicken. only fried. I then mentioned that BOTH were in the ad and the deli person said that I was maybe the 10th person that had brought that upso far. They told the manager about people complaining and he still said he didn't care and that if we didn't want fried chicked we could just go somewhere else. No kidding! I figured this out about this Lucky's long ago. The clerks are ok but management sucks! That's why they lost so many customers to Nob Hill and Walmart. read more

Lucky is a very large store with small store vibes. Staff always treat you like family, friendly and very helpful in helping you find something. The shelves are always well maintained. Items are well displayed and you can see staff are always keeping items in stock on the shelves. Best of all i like the occasional sale items. Always some kind of a bargain here. read more

What can I say- I love Lucky. I've visited Nob hill (Nope!) Star Market (Nope!) Not my jam, they're to smug and vanilla. They've remodeled and everything is just where you'd think it would be. And if it's not a clerk will walk you to it. Amazing produce department! Always stocked and rotated for everyday-freshness. Bread section is great- Always the freshest cuts of fish and butcher products. They have a great bakery- and sandwich area. Another huge reason I go there is because of the cashier crew. First name basis on both myself and the cashiers. Great personalities that make your checkout a pleasant experience. I'm sure there's more I could say more but basically this is a great shopping experience. read more

There prices. Customer service, and there only 2miles from my home. Lots of parking, we have a store buck's right next to the lucks store.

I stopped shopping at Lucky even though they are the closest store to my home and across the street from work. Employees are great and try to be helpful but the Lucky coupon program is a disaster. I finally quit Lucky after waiting 10 minutes in line because the cashier sent the person in front of me to get different soda for whatever promotion. When she came back, none of her purchases qualified because she didn't have an electronic coupon. Customers don't understand nor do the cashiers. Whoever created this for Lucky should be fired! read more

This store has the worst baggers and the slowest checkers ever. 1 or 2 checkout lanes open no matter how many people waiting in line. I have seen people 10 deep and not one manager will jump in to help. This is an everyday occurrence. If i didn't do Instacart, I would never shop at this location. Shopped here for one item and again encountered backed up checker lines with three people or more within lines. Cannot believe this store cannot get its act together and have more checkers. It blows my mind they can stay in business. I guess some people are very patient or are desperate to shop here. Most of the checkers seem to have private conversations with other checkers while you are waiting to be checked out. The manager needs to make some major improvements here soon. I will continue to shop at Star market which has superior service and you never have to wait in long lines ever. read more

They really need to hire security because too many homeless people hanging out outside and stealing from you guys so it would really be worth your investment. The employees are friendly specially the night time grocery manager (key carrier) always willing to help carry waters or find something ;-) biggest issue is like other reviewers mentioned , the lines can get pretty ridiculous and I've walked out of there several times for that reason. Im sure they have enough employees to cover more than 3 registers during busy hours and if not, lucky is a pretty big chain and surely can afford to hire more people. This store is a key business in the wealthier side of town and has a lot of potential to gain a better reputation. They have two other competitors in the area and I'm sure they lose business to them all the time. read more

If you are planning to shop at Lucky please be sure of this warning "When buying items at Lucky please be sure to double check the prices on your items very carefully" Because I think Lucky is trying to cheat customers by giving the wrong prices and lying about the real prices of items. My dad witnessed this when shopping at Lucky when he was trying to buy the sodas that were on sale in this week's ad and when Dad got home he realized that Lucky had given him the sodas at the wrong price and resulted in him calling the store and what they told Dad was he had to return the sodas for the correct price and when he returned to Lucky Dad told the clerk his story and then was finally able to get the sodas for free. This is not the first time we have encountered problems with this Lucky location and it seems that every time we shop Lucky we now encounter problems like this one today and today was the straw that broke the camel's back for us as Lucky fans. I think Lucky headquarters needs to investigate this Lucky location as well as other Lucky's in Monterey County and the Bay Area too because I think Lucky is lying to shoppers about sale prices for items listed in their ads because they should fix this annoying problem and do it right for shoppers read more

I agree with others. This is a ghetto Lucky's. I've been to chain groceries in New Jersey that were less scary. Seriously, unwelcoming little strip mall though there's lots of parking. You can find what you need here if you just need to pick up snacks, big name brands from the cheese or deli meats racks or something to go. I'd probably avoid anything fresh from the produce or meat department. Also, I discovered there's a Nob Hill just past Lucky's if you keep driving a couple more blocks which is 100% worth it and the inflated prices you'll find there. read more

Came in here tonight to pick up some groceries and was met with a long checkout line because the ONE cashier was on her cell phone having a personal conversation. Then I go to the deli counter to try to find an employee to deal with the situation, but they too are on their cell phones taking pictures of the guy climbed inside one of the glass display cases cleaning it. Needless to say, I'll be taking my business elsewhere! read more

For the most part lucky is a great store but it does have a few down sides. The staff are awesome and their deli counter is a great place for lunch. Be careful when ordering their chicken wings though because sometimes they will be burnt. Their produce also tends to be expired so you have to check the dates carefully. Great place to stop and grab a few things if you need them. read more

The store is clean and cashiers are all very friendly. Its easy to find items I need and dont usually have to wait in line very long.

The meat department never puts the fish and seafood out till 10 or 11 in the morning. The clerks love to talk when the line is long. The prices are always too high on everything except the weekly specials. They often block the aisles to stock shelves, especially in the bread department. read more

Terrible customer service! Every time I go to this store, which is a lot I live down the street, the cashier is talking to the bagger and totally ignores the customer. Never the same cashier, it is basically all the cashiers. It is irritating, I have to interrupt the conversation between the employees in order to get answers to any questions I have. From now on I am going to go through Marina to shop at the Luckys there. This is completely out of my but it is better than dealing with the terrible customer service at the S. This store is so ghetto and yet the lines are always long. Probably because there are hardly any registers open. The last time I went in there, I got in line and there were 2 women a head of me. The first woman was buying a weeks worth of groceries and carrying on a personal conversation with the clerk and taking forever to pay. After around 3-4 minutes, I notice the woman in front of me was was getting visibly irritated, looking at her watch and shaking her head. I took out my phone and started scrolling IG to pass the time and I space out. After 10 minutes, I realize the personal conversation between the clerk and the first woman is still carrying on, her groceries are bagged and in the cart and she's already paid and yet we are still standing here while they talk. I'm like WTH man why is this guy carrying on a personal conversation while he's got this long line at his register so I say "hey whats the hold up here?" and he gives me a snotty look and says his customer is waiting on fresh chicken from the deli". So I look around to see if there's a shorter line and there are now 4-5 people behind me and 1 other open register with 6 people in line. I left my stuff at the register and went to Nob Hill instead! What kind of customer service is that? He should have asked her to step aside so he could ring everyone else up. He didn't even have the decency to let everyone in line know what was going on or apologize for the wait! We're all just standing there sighing and getting visibly annoyed while he carries on with a customer that has already paid for her groceries. Thats the last time I set foot in that store. read more

I love the employees and I love coming in for chicken wings on my lunch break. There are a couple areas where this location could use a little help though. The veggies go bad the day after you purchase them and my co workers have purchased drinks that were already expired. The chicken recently has been burnt half the time I come in and the lines are ridiculously long because there are never enough open registers. I think if those things were improved upon, this place could be 5 stars easy. read more
