As a long time shopper of Grocery Outlet I was ecstatic when they opened one up in Soledad. previously the nearest was a 45 min commute to Salinas. For those unfamiliar it's a store that may or may not have what you are looking for but if they do (bread, produce and alcohol aside) the prices are often far more reasonable than the grocery store. My approach when it's grocery time is to first stop at Grocery Outlet, get the items or brands you need that are available and address the delta at a nearby more costly grocery store where you get the remaining items. That combination ensures you are saving more each month as a result. For those things they do carry, the prices are often much less. And on occasion priced too good to be true, when that happens look carefully at the expiry. Even in those moments I am content buying a container of orange juice for half the price even if I know it will expire in two days. More often than not it will not last longer than that anyway. They often have some off the wall brands of things like ice cream but admittedly It was what introduced me to Brave Robot Blue berry pie ice cream and Ample Hills Gooey Butter Cake ice cream. Both absolute knocks out of the park and doubly so with them being $2.50 a container. You may have to scrutinize the price and product but after a while it's second nature and you will be hard pressed to save as much. I imagine this is exponentially better if you have a large family. Lastly, this location specifically, the owners recognize law enforcement and military personnel and will issue you a hard card that can be used for a $3.00 discount on a $35 bill every shopping visit. They also offer periodic receipt coupons for $5.00 on a specific amount. If you plan to shop there anyway it's just an added savings bonus. The store itself is spacious and clean! However the wine is in disarray! I drove from Gonzales to go there instead of Salinas and I was dismayed at the wine section. I wanted a Pinot Noir and instead of it being grouped together it was all over the place! Some bottles mixed with Cabernet, Malbec and more. Out of the five stores in our area Seaside is most organized and the volume of sales speaks volumes. Marina comes in close then Salinas, haven't been in Prunedale for a while. Being in a region where we have many wineries they should be better! read more

I usually have great experiences here because of the deals it makes it a good stop to go to. I frequent this business about anywhere from 3 to 6 times a week. I forgot my ID at home one time they made a big deal and said they couldn't sell it to me and said that that's how they do it (required for every transaction). I just left the store right now and the register next to me had a person with the similar situation and right away was Sold the alcohol with very little problem whatsoever. This unfair practice is something that should be monitored and revised. Blanket procedures is what makes a quality experience and earn respect from clients. Ever since Grocery Outlet opened, I have been doing my shopping primarily here. I am able to get about 95% of my shopping done with a few items here and there that I would need to pick up at the other local stores; however, I love that they have such a wide selection of specialty items, especially for people with certain food restrictions. It's like a little Trader Joe's in town. The staff is always very nice and I never have to wait long at the checkout. Also... the bathrooms are always clean and I appreciate the fact they have 2 ply toilet paper :) I am so thankful there are here in town. read more

this "store" is absolutely a joke, i am a former employee at this "grocery outlet" in soledad, and what i experienced working for these people was anything but pleasant. let me just first start off by acknowledging that ezekiel reyes and crystal reyes are extremely judgmental, unfair, unprofessional, and do not take accountability for their actions or responsibilities. on the beginning of 2023, when this "store" was on its way to being open, my former coworkers and i were in charge of stocking the entire building with the products. i specifically remember working on the aisle for bread meant for hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc when i noticed mold starting to develop on one of the breads, indicated by the purple & white like markings/dots. my coworkers and i informed ezekiel reyes about this mold developing on the bread and instead of giving us instructions to throw out the bread like any other normal and reasonable person would, we were instructed to continue with the stocking. we reassured the owners ezekiel and crystal reyes multiple times about the products not being safe for customers to consume, however they still insisted on stocking the aisles. not to mention this was happening with almost every product that was starting to develop mold like bread, fruits, vegetables, meat, you name it. there is a reason why you pay such a low price at this "store" this "grocery outlet" gets their products expired or almost expired from other larger retailers like target, and walmart, costing the owners a lot less to spend so if you purchase something from this "store" beware it will already be expired or almost expiring within a week, sometimes even less than 2 days. now let me start with the favoritism, ezekiel reyes and crystal reyes do not treat everyone with the respect and dignity that they deserve. i can speak on behalf of 4 other former employees and myself that the treatment we received there was ridiculous. i do not know if it was my physical appearance or style that made them treat me the way they did but it was completely rude. the owners would constantly pick on me to clean the restrooms every single 40 minutes, and i am not exaggerating. the restrooms would hardly even get dirty, much less every 40 minutes so i do not understand why i was only given the priority to clean the restrooms. not too soon after opening, me and multiple employees were fired with absolutely no reason or warning, it was clear from the beginning that the owners will only provide full time to who they favor the most. to save you time, DO NOT SHOP at this sorry excuse of a grocery store. if you think you will find something in this "grocery outlet" you will most definitely find it in foodsco and with much more sufficient quality. read more
