We have enjoyed doing the grocery pickup at this store, but today we got a package of pork chops that was unacceptable. Over 2 inches of fat left on a package of sirloin pork chops. First a butcher packaged it this way, then a clerk grabbed it and dumped it on us. We have some physical disabilities or I would shop for myself, but it makes us think twice about Safeway. As a past meat district supervisor and a Senior Director of Operations for a major chain in California/Nevada, I know that sometimes an employee gets careless. I hope that both the meat cutter and the selection clerk are retrained. We shall see. read more

I have been shopping at this Safeway since they opened. Almost every time I leave disgusted. If you go in the back where the discounted items are marked with red tags. Well, the checkers usually don't see it and I end up paying the regular price. I try to watch for that but it's hard because they are going so fast. Sometimes I go back later and get a return. For example, last week I bought a birthday cake for my husband. It has a small 50% tag on it. Once again I paid full price $16.00. The worst thing that has ever happened to me. I was in the back looking at the discounted items and a lady from the meat department ran into me with her meat cart and I was left with a bruise on my left arm that took two weeks to go away. Then she proceeded to stand in front of me. She could tell I was hurt and mad. She said can't two people shop at the same time. I said no you work here and I am a shopper. I called the manager when I got home and in between we talked several times. He never called me back and I was left feeling like why do I keep going back to this store. Excellent grocery store based on selection, quality, variety. Employees are pleasant. Clean and bright interior. I don't shop Safeway. I shop Walmart. I've compared prices buying the same foods at Walmart and Safeway and Walmart always comes out ahead by 20% or so. That's a lot of money overtime! read more

Awful. Delivery canceled. Refund takes 7 days. I don't have that kind of expendable money. On another order, the shopper didn't care - delivered wrong items, broken crackers, and almost expired items. This place is awful - good luck to those who "5 starred" it - what planet are you shopping from? You can't call - can't find a human. I don't have time, need delivery due to my job - never again. I have been living in Green Valley full time for 8 years and in that time I have watched this grocery store become worse and worse. I'm not trying to be a Karen about this - seriously, I am being as objective as is humanly possible. It is without doubt the most horrendous, gross, pathetic, god-awful place I have ever shopped for groceries in my life. Its filty dirty always. Prices are breath taking and I compare them with others stores in my area and many times items are twice as much as other markets. Aisles are impassable due to daytime stockers working; they refuse to move or make room for you to pass by and they are always just rude as hell. Yesterday (my last time in this store ever!) I waited in the checkout line for 18 minutes (after I started keeping time) and that brings me to the checkers - they are rude, moronic, uncaring and just clowns. Parking is a war zone, inventory is weird, and it is just a nightmare to go there. (Never ever again no matter what!) Here is one example of price: I purchased a can of Progresso Soup at Wal-Mart for 1.50, the same exact can on the same day at Safeway 2.75. This is MY Safeway & I really like the "aged" employees who know what Customer Service is! Both in the store at the Gas Island! Guadalupe in CS, Josue in Butcher, James in management, Zuki, Jaime, Alex & Tristen, all great people! There are a few young ones who have the CS skills but there are few & far between! These great employees, plus some other are the reason we continue to go back. Please do not promote people on education or seniority, but ability! I don't usually shop at the Sahuarita store, and it doubt I ever will again. The management of that store is in some real need of improvement. I stood in line at the deli for 15 minutes, and the only reason I got waited on then was because 3 customers walked away. The real icing on the cake was waiting in line at the checkout for 35 minutes, I was number 15 in line waiting my turn, what happened to "3 a crowd". As a former head cashier for 20 years, I know what customer satisfaction is, and it certainly doesn't show at that location. read more

This Safeway is okay but there are a few things that they can improve on. One of those things that can be improved on is having more registers open during their peak hours. The second thing they could improve on is their Bakery department never seems to have alot of their baked goods no matter what time you get there. So you just have to hope they'll have what you need. As for their Deli and Meat department they are very well stocked with their items and always very fresh. The people in both of these departments are wonderful and respectful and knowledgeable people. read more

I'm amazed that my review was taken down. I rarely post a review but when I'm compelled to do so I feel my thoughts and opinions should be respected... I was in Safeway a couple of weeks ago requesting a refund on 2 items totaling perhaps $12.00 ... the customer service woman was rude and acted as if the money was coming out of her paycheck. I was made to feel like I was ripping off the store. So ... Safeway stop crying about a negative review and talk to your customer service person to treat the customers with respect! read more

The produce section ain't half bad and they had a killer sale on kombucha the day I stopped in. There is also a half-decent selection of tortillas, some of which are tucson-made. But that's just about where the positives of this location stop. Maybe I like really weird foods but I couldn't find any kefir, let alone any brand or kind of yogurt besides one. The fish looked really old. There was no almond butter to be found. And the breads in the bakery looked stale. In the end we still managed to get a full grocery run together but missing some of our beloved staples. read more

I usually never have any complaints of groceries store. Don't get me wrong I'm a regular customer here at Safeway where I get my groceries at and meals products. Compared Safeway to Walmart the Safeway meals products are cheaper than Walmart and always have special sales for during holiday days. And I ever have any complaints but this Saturday 4/20/19 around 7pm we came in to do some late groceries shopping for the house my girlfriend and I we didn't feel like wanted to cooking for the night and we bought a safeway beef signature sandwich for our dinner just a quick. We got home cut it in half, the sandwich looks delicious and fine. we ate it and guess what....3-4 hours later our stomachs were so upset and had diarrhea.... I don't know what was it that they put in that sandwich maybe the beef is old or something cause our stomach upset.. just not gonna buy their signature sandwich any more. Came here again 4/13/20 have to picked up some sushi from sushilin and came to did my grocery shopping real quick instead going to Walmart all packed. The store was slow came grab a few things. Seriously this Safeway manager need to try their staff how to be respectful to their customer and way they talked! This cashier "Gaby" is so rude in her mid 45-50s. Yes we know about this virus every one has to stay 6 feet away from each you dont have to yell from 10 feet away! "Stay back!" Seriously on the sign said 6 feet! And there was other guy in back of me and she yell at him. He was pissed off! He cussed off at her" stop f yelling at me!" While the staff does try hard, this store has gone downhill over the past 2 years. They are extremely understaffed, causing ridiculously long waits at the deli counter and the checkout lanes. Produce is only fair, not too good . They are often out of items that are on sale. They have expired items on the dairy shelves. Disappointed. read more

I was at my Safeway store very early today about 6:05---picked up 3 items but needed stamps. The man in the check-out ahead of me had a cart with ice cream and milk. It was 6:20 (in-store clock) A nice employee--Laurena - called 3 times for someone to help us. We saw lots of Safeway employees walk past -- and ignore us. He and I were frustrated. Hard to believe that the Safeway Store on Duval Mine Road can charge more than a store in Tucson. Not only are Green Valley residents paying more for their gas, but now we find out that groceries are cheaper in Tucson. A recent ad showed that the ads were the same, but the prices were higher in Green Valley than in Tucson for the same product. I bet that Safeway wouldn't honor the Tucson price here in Green Valley. Stop shopping at Safeway - go to Frys or Walmart - but stay away from Safeway unless you like being higher prices. read more

There are two Safeways in Green Valley. I have been to both and this location is by far the best. It is never as crowded as the other one so no lines. The store seems bigger and cleaner. It is a little further from my home but well worth the drive. They also have a gas station. read more

I meant to update my review sooner. I think the manager (Mike?) must've came on new (last year) because I started seeing him on duty almost every time I came in. Their service improved immensely like overnight. Anyway, I almost always get my scripts filled no problem. And they now carry all the drugs I need without them getting hung up in corporate indefinitely. They all pretty much know me by name now. Perhaps thats not such a good thing, ha! read more

Busy, busy and busier! This Safeway just always seems packed. I went a few times while working in Green Valley and found I needed to plan a good 5-10 minutes to get through a line. Maybe exaggerating, but it sure takes a while, and there didn't seem to be enough lines. But it's still a very good Safeway with great deli food and selection. read more

I shop at Safeway and have never had a problem until I joined their pharmacy. For the first two months my medication was always there in a timely fashion. It's simple blood pressure medications. On the third month they always had an excuse as to why they didn't have the meds. This went on for over a month that I had no meds. Called my Doctor and went to Walgreens where I got the meds. with no problem. Now five months later and Safeway pharmacy is calling me to tell me the prescriptions are ready for pick up. This is the only place I really like to shop at in town. The staff here are all super friendly and helpful. I've never seen them with an empty shelf, ever. They always have everything I need in. I come in here multiple times a week and I've never seen the lines get too out of control. They usually have a few lanes open during the day and early evening, and I've never had to wait too long. I definitely prefer this one over the other Safeway in town. read more

Today I went into this Safeway only to find that more than half the items on the shelves were marked down if you used a digital coupon. Paper coupons were not available for these items. The savings can only be made if you are tech savvy. This is a community with many senior citizens who would find it difficult to download apps on cell phones (if they have them), scan bar codes online or in the store and display them to the cashiers at check-out. What's wrong with just using your loyalty card to get the sale price? They are taking advantage of seniors and people who are not so tech savvy. I'll just go to Fry's.....they've lost a customer. read more

Can you believe that with all the starving people in our country both young and old; and the world-that Safeway will throw out three or four slices of meat if it goes over the weight that you request at the deli counter? Witnessed it with my own eyes, just this moment, and asked the Deli counter about the incident and that was their reply..... they do not even ask if you want the extra slices-they just throw it in the garbage. We pay for food stamps in our taxes, donate money to various causes to see children-and Safeway is throwing food, perfectly good fresh cut meat into the garbage! FOLLOW-UP: I emailed Safeway's Corporate Customer Service regarding their recent new policy of charging ten cents more per gallon for credit card fuel purchases. Their response included the following statement: "We recently changed our pricing at our gas stations to ensure that customers paying with Cash or Debit Cards always get our lowest price on gas. " With this statement, they are basically giving the proverbial "middle finger" to their loyal customers who wish to pay with a credit card. If you disagree with their new policy and do not wish to pay ten cents more per gallon when using a credit card: 1) contact them at Safeway.com to let them know your position; 2) don't buy gas or shop at Safeway stores; 3) pass this along to others you know. Safeway Corporate will get away with this sort of thing only if allowed to do so. read more

WATCH YOUR STEP! Safeway preventable ACCIDENT. I fell at this Safeway 2 days ago because a soup spill (in the dairy section) was left on the floor with no warning to or consideration for customers. Prior to my fall, employees were informed by another customer that it was a dangerous spill and someone could get hurt. Even then, the employees did not clean it up or flag it for customers. Two days later, I've had no follow-up call from anyone at this Safeway regarding my fall. My conclusion - Safeway doesn't care about its customers and this is not a safe place to shop. read more
