I don't know why this Safeway has a low rating. I like to shop here! The store is clean, well organized and the staff is friendly. I've noticed there isn't a lot of turn over here which is good for not only the employees but for the customers as well. It feels like a local family grocery store. I do think that they should have more than a couple registers open at a time but honestly that's everywhere at any store. read more

The produce is terrible. Containers of berries and bags of oranges with mold all over them. Is anyone paying attention to the produce?

Never make enough donuts on Sunday's, trying to get some for a group after church. You guys always used to be on point with having enough donuts through out the morning for church. read more

Great selection, HARD working folk.. But the respect & help you get is wonderful. I could go somewhere cheaper with 7 kids but they make it worth my while being so professional. Very hard working people at Safeway. read more

Safeway - This is my husband, a former pitcher for the Oakland A's.. I'm the one with the ever so SF GIANTS hat - Grocery Near Me - Pueblo, Colorado

We went to Safeway in Pueblo West, Colorado and were told that self-checkout is now 20 items or less, so if we wanted 21 or more, we would have to go stand in one of the two long lines for someone to check us out. All this because someone tried to get out with four carts of groceries. If they want to do their job and check people out in a non self-checkout lane, they need to have more lanes open and have the people that are just standing around doing nothing (we counted 5), run those lanes. Fortunately, we only had 14 items, but if we had more than 20, we would have gotten two carts and paid separately or taken some of it out of the cart and left it right there. They obviously do not care about honest customers. If the goal is to be the same as Wal-mart, they have achieved that goal. read more

my sister and her boyfriend went this morning to shop for food and immediately were being profiled. Constantly being watched as they tried to find items. Completely ridiculous... they couldn't even use the self checkout because they "had too much" And don't even deny that they weren't being profiled because we work at a retail store--we know all about that. Definitely won't ever be shopping here again. read more

Dave in deli carries this place on his back, best deli service and quality I think I've ever had from any Safeway ever.

shop at Southside Safeway Pueblo. Had broken my bag on my way out, and Margaret saw what happened and offered me assistanc. It was an embarrassing situation, but she was so kind and even offered to replace my dozen of eggs. she helped me gather everything. and just want to say thank you for having such a kind employee!! read more

the pharmacy in this Safeway is awful. I was told my rx was done and waited 20 mins in line to be told it wasnt ready and would be another 5-10 mins. I told worker I got message it was ready and she replied that you can't believe those notifications? I mildly told her that sounds like a Safeway problem not a me problem and I couldn't wait another 20 mins in line because I have a bad back, she replied that she's not letting people yell at her and threw her arms in the air and walked away! I waited about 5 mins in the way of everybody and then a different employee rang me up. I was calm this entire time, it's not my fault they are busy and don't have enough people to properly run. I felt like she was gaslighting me, as she was yelling at me not to yell at her!! read more

We shop at the Pueblo West Safeway on occasion. The produce is high quality, prices on sale items are often very good, and the employees are quite friendly and helpful. Also, the deli section is quite good. The overall shopping experience is great except for one thing- there aren't enough electric carts available, and sometimes the only one not in use is being charged. One other nearby store doesn't suffer from this same deficiency. read more

I have been going to Safeway my entire life. We were military and whenever we moved, that is one of the first things I would look for in our new place.... is there a Safeway nearby? Even if they weren't the closest, I would still make the trip because Safeway always treats me the same: I get greeted and asked if I need help finding anything. The store is always clean and well stocked. The produce is always quality. And the only cream I will use in my coffee is Lucerne Heavy Whipping Cream, which I can only get at Safeway. :). I guess it always sort of feels like home. read more

They seem to always be out of sale items. Albertsons just a few miles east on 50 has most things in stock

I did my weekly shopping here yesterday for the first time ever, as I am moving as much of my grocery budget as possible away from King Soopers. I found this store to be clean, organized, and the staff helpful. I located every item on my list, and was assisted in locating one item. The Deli area was amazing, and Jim in that area went out of his way to see that I received my order exactly as requested. Store manager Ken spent several minutes with me at the end of my shopping, and I felt appreciated. Today I had need to return one item, and was assisted quickly and graciously - with an apology from the customer service area. I'll be making the drive from the southside to Pueblo West for the foreseeable future. read more

I enjoy the store and shop there regularly, but this location is inconsistent with the State of Colorado's mandatory mask order. I shouldn't have to enter an unsafe environment because management is not fully committed to protecting all customers and the staff. read more

Some of the employees are friendly. The selection of items is poor in general. The parking lot is crammed and annoying. Their prices are not great. Really, it's just below average. read more

Some good deals on just for u app the variety is much more then smaller Safeway's . I like how they have $5 dollar sushi on Friday's but it's not the fancy rolls or specialty. read more

Not as clean and well stocked as it used to be - kind of gone down hill over the past couple of years. Produce department used to have a wonderful organic section. The seating area by Starbucks is always dirty. Used to be a nice place to shop. The old time employees are still very friendly. But the employees that transferred from the 2 closed Safeway stores in Pueblo- well, let's just say, some of them-not all of them- brought their "attitude" with them. I hope this helps them improve and get back to being a great store. read more

Safeway Rocks! Freshness and variety is the key. I use Scramble recipe planning service, and ingredients that are impossible to find at other stores are always stocked at Safeway. If I buy lettuce at the Big store nearby, it will be wilted and browning in a day or maybe when bought. Safeway produce lasts till I need it. The bakery's Artesan Breads are the perfect complement to homemade soups and so much more tasty than the standard "French" bread that is the main baked fresh offering at other local stores. Cut a loaf of Pugaliese in half lengthwise and drizzle with olive oil and herbs and fresh Parmesan. Bake till slightly crisped, then slice. Elegant and soooo delicious! The quality of food at Safeway is unmatched in our area. If I have to wait a little in a line to get that...I'm willing to! read more

No cashiers. Long lines. Only 2 cashiers where there when I was waiting in line. Accidentally went in the 10 items or less line. The cashier named Debbie made a rude comment about me having more then 10 items. Did not matter anyway both of the 2 checkout lines had at least 5 people waiting in line. This is the same with any Safeway. Always a big line! read more

Crowded aisles and low choice selections. Would expect a bigger store servicing this huge populated area. Checkers are usually talking w/the sacker or another co-worker standing around instead of the customer. I rarely get thanked but just handed my receipt while the checker's still looking away and jabberjawing w/a co-worker instead. I've smiled and said "you're welcome" a couple of times but wasn't even heard. I'm invisible there. No one cares. If an employee passes by, they always rush past w/no eye contact and I get the feeling they don't want to be stopped and be asked where some item is. If you're fine w/all that then it's the store for you to continue to spend your money at. I'm probably spoiled tho from moving here from another state w/a wide choice of 7 excellent grocery stores near my house for the past 20 years and just took that for granted that at least one existed here. read more

My fiance just got off work (commercial roofing) still in his work clothes picked our 2 sons 9 month and 3yrs and myself from our apartment to take us to the nearest store(safeway) I made last minute playdate plans and wanted to get various snacks and groceries we needed for tomorrow. No list just wanted to walk around and got what caught our eye. Our oldest was in the back of the cart and as the cart started to fill the cart didn't fit our son so we got a smaller cart and transferred the groceries to give him more room. Apparently this is an issue for asset control that works for safeway. They were following us around the store relentlessly to the point is was very uncomfortable everywhere we turned they were there. My fiance then asks the man if he works for a company and if there is an issue. The man first denys it then gets aggressive states loudly that he is with asset control and lifts up his shirt to show his handcuffs in a threatening manner in front of me and our 2 children. We then walk away and talk to the manager. The female manager was not helpful at all and very rude as well. She did not make matters any better she made them worse. She didn't answer any questions or give me any assurance the matter would be taken care of properly. The male manager approached us and was more helpful. So if you plan on shopping here make sure you have a list and don't wonder or asset control will Harrass you and have a squad car outside waiting. read more

I just moved to Pueblo West and have shopped at several Safeway's. While this store is very nice the service is awful, and the prices are higher than Lakewood where I moved from. The employees are apathetic and don't really care what the customers think about the poor service. Safeway thinks because their only competition for a big box grocery store is Walmart they can save on labor costs and still keep a good customer base. I for one will not shop at that store any more. Walmart has the same products at a better price and the employees are very friendly. I really don't want to drive to Pueblo to shop at King Soopers but I might start. Safeway can fix the problem at the Pueblo West store by adding a self checkout and having a strong management team. read more
