This little grocery store has a bakery, deli, and hot food section. It was impressive what they had. I tried something called a jalapeño tater keg. It was delicious. The service was super friendly and accommodating. This had a great atmosphere for a grocer. I should also mention they do not charge for bags at the checkout. read more

Average grocery store. Ok prices on some items, other selection is overpriced. Meat is overpriced. Staff can be friendly and rude depending on the day. Deli here is underrated. I'd like to see another grocery store in the area. read more

My favorite grocery store. The meat section is very good and the checkers are friendly and helpful.

So far, new to the area but lived in CO for 8 years. I will agree with the majority of reviewers that the counter people are VERY RUDE! This isn't big city mentality for the past reviewers or an acceptance to go back to the city, this is called having respect for fellow humans. The counter person was very snotty and just walking into the store I got glares and looks of displeasure. Unwelcoming and unkind attitudes/vibe. After reading poop on the apples review I will more than likely not go to the fruit and veggie section IF I go back at all. I love the peace of a smaller city but the attitude I'm seeing so far by some has to go. read more

Great little community grocery store. The Davidson family are very active in this community, promote local farmers and provide a great store For this small community. Shop there a few times and they will know your name! Perfect situation for people without cars, or with other challenges and seniors. Its not Walmart, it better and local. read more

I've been going here for about 3 years. I eat from the deli for lunch 2-3 times a week. I've seen the other reviews talking about how rude the checkers were/are. I have not had that experience in the 3 years I've been going here. Prices are high, but right now prices are high everywhere. It's a small town grocery store. If you are from a big city and you are expecting the same type/level of service, you should probably remember where you are. This isn't CA, NY, IL, etc... This is Florence, CO. People are a little slower, and are not in as much of a rush. Want the same service as you got in the city? GO BACK TO THE CITY! For those of you who live in a small town because it's a small town, you'll be happy with Big D's. read more

This is going to be a very short review. The only pro is the parking lot. Cons: Rude employees who don't give .2 to you. I'm pretty sure the employees never get training on customer service. The company hires people with no people skills and the rare time I stop in, I hope for a speedy checkout. Take a few minutes ago, not even a hi or simple conversation with the cashier. She was too busy talking, or rather gossiping with another worker. But she gave 100% attention to the person behind me. Add in the ridiculous high prices. Just over $5.50 for 1.7lb of 85% ground beef. Walmart would have been less than $4. Heck, even City Market or Safeway would have been cheaper. Recommended? Nope. Rude service, high prices. Don't even glance at this store. read more

I have been going here for more than three years, and am very sick of it. They are always so rude! As other reviews have said, I have experienced workers gossiping while ringing up my items, if they aren't gossiping and ignoring you they are very short, mean and rude. This lady just got an attitude with me because I set me basket on the ground, I was just going to return it to the stack myself after she rang me up but that was unacceptable to her. There is no where to leave the damn baskets so I always take them out myself. I'm not even going to mention the ridiculous pricing here. Just avoid these rude people. read more

Big D Superfoods is ABSOLUTELY the best grocery store in Fremont county! I can assure you that they will do what needs to be done to see a smile on your face when you walk out the door. They never hesitate to ask me if I need help or how my day is going. For all they do for the community and the school systems, I would spend a 1,000$ at Big D before even thinking about spending a dime at Walmart. I get that there prices can be a little high but they definitely beat Walmart in some things. There ad every week has some of the greatest deal ever no other store can compete. read more

I have been here 28 years and have alway been treated with great respect at Big D's....everyone is so friendly, and the sales are great. I would highly recommend Big D's great small town quality! I live 22 miles from Big D's and would rather go there then the place that is closer in Westcliffe. read more

Happy to spend a few extra nickels over Wally world. Feel much better shopping with neighbors. Please support local businesses.

I have always been pleased with the staff. They always step forward to help you find something or recommend another product. I live in Canon City but love the pretty drive over to Florence. I don't know who was working when those other reviewers were there but it wasn't like that at all when I was there. If they thought prices were a little higher then remember it's a good trade off for those who are in a hurry and don't care to fight the crowds (and rude people) at the other grocery establishments, The meat department staff are really good at talking you through a certain meat and preparation of it. If a shopper comes on "strong" they most likely will get a "back attcha" from any employee in any store! Life is too short. read more

Best customer service at a grocery store. Small town grocer competing competently on prices and selection. Pharmacy is good too. Easy returns. Good meat and deli. read more

Big D Superfoods aspires to meet the needs of the people of Florence. They are always supporting the community in a variety of ways and are the quintessential local grocery store! Thank you for the support you give our town and for your kind spirit, freshly cut meats, and fresh produce! We can't thank you enough for all you do for the town. read more

Some of the employees (Brooke) are rude to the customers, they're too busy chatting with other employees than to acknowledge the presence of people in line. Other than that, great experience, everyone else is friendly and willing to work with you and help you find anything you need, and everything is always fresh. The deli food is delicious and always hot. read more

The only area in this store where I have received great customer service is the Deli. The employees behind the counter are always ready to jump at the opportunity to help and make me feel welcome. But when it comes to the floor, I'm treated like I smell worse than Satan's jockstrap soaked in thrice regurgitated skunk juice. Even the manager was rude when I asked a simple question. Also, many items are lacking dates or they're obscured. A couple weeks ago, we bought sausage that when opened a week later, we realized it was bad. When we looked at the date, it had expired in 2017!! Disgusting! As for the checkout, it's considered the last defense against a lousy shopping experience. This is what can make or break a shoppers overall judgment of a business and the cashiers utterly fail at the most basic of effort; a simple smile and greeting. They're flat out rude or snappy, they don't like when you try to joke with them, and they can't even bring themselves to listen if you ask for something to be double bagged! I felt nothing but hostility from cashier Jeanie. The woman certainly shouldn't be working the cash register with such a cranky disposition. Also, someone below stated that if a customer gets an attitude, the employee gives one right back because life it too short. In some cases that might be warranted but in most, the customer is making a reasonable complaint and as a CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKER, they shouldn't become rude, they're meant to find a solution to the problem. Honestly, if you have the time, drive the distance to Canon City or Pueblo West. At the very least, you'll save some cash for what it costs you in gas and at the most, you won't get a pompous douche waffle for a cashier. read more

It's a great small town supermarket. Almost everyone is kind and will help you as soon as they can. They have nice young cashiers . Also they are well organized. I've been going there for years and I will continue for years to go. read more

Rudest checkout I have ever encountered! I have been to this store several times and the checkers are old enough to know better. There is a lot of competition in the area with Safeway, Hilltop Market and Walmart. Sad. read more

Big D Superfoods is a quick, easy, locally owned independent grocery store. It's a good hometown store that is just a hop away from home. About four years ago, I asked a store manager if they would start to order Hills Brothers Sugar Free Cappuccino and they stocked it a week or so later! I have little reason to venture to the original WalMegabox store now!! read more
