Holiday Market is a grocery store chain that serves mainly rural smaller communities. I…read moreoccasionally drop on into this Holiday Market in southern Placerville, CA. It carries the same type of stock as any grocery chain but on a smaller scale. The market has a sandwich deli to order fresh sliced sandwich meats and custom sandwiches. But I got a "beef" with them. All these years I was not told that with my sandwich order, I can get a free fountain drink or bottled water. What the hey?!? The deli counter person nor the cashier ever told me. Not until my last visit a few weeks ago. The cashier was great, she even asked a runner to grab me a bottled water. But he came back to say they were out. Seriously?! It's a grocery store ... no bottled water? Sure. Good grief. I would have taken a room temp bottle. Not really vibing with Holiday Market anymore.

We have a new one, that is bigger but very impersonal and I find some of the prices higher for some of the things I buy regularly. I have been shopping at the Broadway location for over 4 years, and most of the time I find everything I'm looking for, and new things to try. This location is further from me than the new location in town, but I prefer to take the trip to this Broadway store. My only negative comment about it, is that unfortunately, as all CW's, the inconsistency of the products they offer. I hope they continue providing the same quality of service and products.

After multiple negative experiences with this particular pharmacy, I decided I needed to let others…read moreknow so they can avoid a similar experience. Pharmacy associates are not helpful or knowledgeable about the process of filling prescriptions which I believe is the primary reason for going there in the first place. It just seems like no one really cares about their job. Here's why you should avoid this pharmacy at all costs... -Cannot refill an in-stock prescription during a shopping visit. Understandable if they're busy, but I was the only customer waiting for a refill and was told they would not be able to get 30 pills counted and put in a bottle within an hour...Wow! 3 of the other Safeway locations in the valley I've been to previously usually offer to do this within 15-20 minutes. I know this is a smaller Safeway compared to their other locations and the overall pace of things is a bit slower up here in Pollock Pines, but I don't think that means they cannot offer decent customer service. -I've called in to have specific prescriptions filled for my wife and they fill the wrong one or forget which one we've asked and provide a refill on the wrong medication. I catch this before paying for the items, but I always have to double check that what they provide me with is what I actually asked for. -Provided specific prescription information, including all physician info and was told by the pharmacy tech that they would contact the physician and I should hear back from the pharmacy within a couple of days. A week later I called in and was told by a different pharmacy tech that I was misinformed by the person I spoke with the prior week and that since it was a new prescription it was my responsibility to contact the physician and have the information sent over. I have no problem contacting the physician and asking them to send over the info, but since I was specifically told they would take care of this, I was a little disappointed that I had to wait a week to find out that nothing was done. I would hate to see what would happen if someone needed a life-saving medication...hope you have a few weeks to wait! At this point, we've given up on this pharmacy. We still love the grocery store, but avoid doing any prescriptions or asking for any sort of advice on any over-the-counter medications as they clearly don't want to be helpful. Great grocery store, horrible pharmacy!

Smaller establishments make for great stops…read more For the size the it's a huge variety of items. One line can take awhile when everyone is in a rush however they called for another cashier. Have a little patience and you'll be great. The cashiers were kind especially the older gentleman that helped me out. On my way to a memorial for a cousin who lost their life to cancer: Although we had one lady who cut myself and four people behind me everyone was kind about it. See etiquette for lines is to wait for opening so we don't block the walk way. However Karen wanted to walk through us waiting to cut us. I politely told her maam we are all in line with one item at that and she has a basket not a hand one but a cart you push with tons of items. Her leaving her house last minute to be late does not mean It's ok to cut everyone in line. I went next looked behind me and see she has decided to still cut the others two young teens that didn't want to stick up for themselves I want you to know to next time please don't allow someone to cut you. We are equal now if she's elderly and all let her go ahead yes but when someone is downright stealing your place in line that's okay I got fruit for $6 but it was a little frozen cold so it was a little older tasting but for all of this to be handled well I up'd the stars.
