Well as you can see in the picture the chocolate was maybe 1/4 inch if that and the rest was whipped cream. Customer service here is always terrible. Even by Safeway's low standards. Store is always short staffed as well.

Friday at 8:00pm. Attached are two pictures of the line I am currently in at Safeway, in front and back view. There are TWO more open checkout aisles. Each has in excess of twenty customers. Self checkout has a couple registers open, which we can't use because we have wine. It's one of ONLY SIX items we have. If only they had an open express lane...It would still be HORRIBLE here. I counted five employees working while my wife guarded our spot in line. This is outrageous. Again, Yelp should provide the option of zero stars. Sad that some things can't be found at Sprouts. *NOTE: This is for the BAKERY ONLY. I was in a rush trying to find something for my aunt's birthday because my sister unfortunately left all the cupcakes I made at home. So we stopped by this Safeway to see what we could get. And we ended up with the cupcake "cakes" with the icing just even across all the cupcakes. However after eating the "cake" I am really sure that they just use the leftover/day old cupcakes and re-purpose them. Either that or the bakers at this Safeway are just incompetent and can't bake a simple white cupcake. No one likes a dry cupcake! In a nutshell, I was there on august 28, 2024 in the afternoon, around 3:50pm, getting some dinner after a long day at work. I was at the check out line and I overhear these two people cussing and laughing and i looked over and saw that it was workers. There was an asian guy and a blonde older lady. The asian guy was pointing and laughing at this couple who was using the self checkout. I heard them laughing and cussing in front of children, at this couple because they were apparently using an EBT card. For the entire time i was there waiting and checking out, they were legit bullying and making fun of these people. Would not be quiet or stop Commenting about how they looked and what they were buying. Several people saw this encounter and we all clearly felt the same way about what they were doing and saying about this couple, who i'm sure were great people. Either way, these workers are quite terrible people. the blonde lady followed them to the door with her mouth open just staring and them and what was in their hand. And then asian male scoffed at them as they walked by the self check out register. Real bullies and terrible workers that they hire. Really sad, especially because some people need to use an EBT card and horrid people like this really ruin today's world. Definitely stay away from here and them. Don't know their names nor would I ever want to. There was a younger asian male and like a fake blonde woman with longer hair, looked a little older than the male tho, seemed like they knew each other well enough to be bullying at work together. I try not to write negative reviews for businesses but this cashier's customer service was atomic. I was waiting in line and started to put my items on the belt and the cashier told me "One customer at a time". I was at least 10 feet away from the next customer in front of me. When it's my turn to check out, I notice that a family comes starts putting their food on the belt and the cashier (also Asian) doesn't say anything. I mentioned it to her and she gave me a nasty look. After paying over $60 worth of groceries, she hands over the receipt and doesn't say a word. I said "Thank You Crystal" and she said nothing. I mentioned it to the manager and he didn't seem to really care. I was extremely disappointed and felt like I was being Discriminated against by the cashier. Typically, I like coming to Safeway for the in-house Starbucks and their selection of fresh produce but I can take my business and $60 elsewhere. Maybe this location would have better ratings if management actually cared and ensured their employees have excellent customer service. read more

Absolutely disgusting!!! I came here because I was feeling nostalgic and wanted a sandwich straight from the deli. I should've went with my first mind and gone to the one Union City because I'm probably not turned off for forever. I was already annoyed because the lady finished making a sandwich and turn left to ring that person up but said she would be right back. But then started helping someone else. I was hanging on to patience until I saw her walk her disgusting self over with the same gloves on that she just handled money with to try to start working on my sandwich. She's gross. Completely and utterly gross. I didn't even care enough to let management know because the entire staff just looks pitiful, like they hate their job and nothing would even be done about it. I wait at the deli counter all the time for someone to help me but typically after 20 minutes of waiting I leave. It's a shame as I always see Safeway employees standing behind the counters but for some reason they seem to avoid helping customers. We understood that not all of us had our ID and put the wine back but she still made a huge fuss about how she's "NOT gonna lose her job over this". We were not even arguing with her but she just kept making comments at us. Upon checking yelp... it all makes sense. She's clearly racist and already has a ton of complaints against her. I was at the store last Saturday and there was a huge line outside. This employee named Mikey didn't bother calling up any seniors to the front and a matter of fact he had vaped right in front of an old elderly woman. I felt immediately shamed and couldn't believe what I had just seen. I am now going to report this problem to HR and hopefully get a hold of the manager soon. This Safeway is exactly like every other Safeway, it's a grocery store. Good things: I can buy groceries here Bad things: Long lines, poor service, bad phone reception (important when I have to call to make sure my list isn't missing anything) Prices here are fine, but you can go across the street for higher quality and similarly priced (if not cheaper) food. The recent stint of cashiers has been interesting. Their customer service skills are lacking and definitely not very fast. There are always lines that trail into the aisles which cause backups for people actually trying to shop. At least it's better than Lucky's in Union City, but I really don't like having to come here. read more

I am a fan of the deli at Safeway. Rather fresh deli ingredients and a reasonable price. They began having all day breakfast sandwiches for $2.99. I tried the egg, ham, and cheddar sandwich. Good price and feels healthier than fast food. The Tuna Salad on foccocia bread is my favorite sandwich. I can choose my usual toppings of pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and Swiss cheese. Honey mustard tops that. $5.99 regular plus you can add chips and drink to make a meal. The service is on the slower side- take note if you are in a rush. I have been coming here ever since I moved in this area. This Safeway can get pretty busy. The self checkout lane can have a long line as well. At least, it was calmer today, so I was in and out of here very quickly. It was quick to scan the items and put them in my bag. I come here since they are the only market that carries the Vanilla Light Silk Milk. I have been searching this item at different places for quite awhile. I was relieved that some of the frozen items are on sale, so I could save them until school starts. It makes my life easier just to heat the item up during lunch time. Just planning ahead as usual! I normally wouldn't review something as common as a grocery store, but I must give this particular location props for being my favorite, and probably the only non-Chinese market I've patronized in the past year. For starters, how can you not love the fact that it's open 24 Hours?! As far as I know, it's the only one in the area that is, and the surroundings are very safe and well maintained. I never feel at any moment like my body or personal property is in immediate harm, even in the darkest hours of the night. I usually drop by after a midnight workout at 24, so I like to stock up on health food items, such as cottage cheese, yogurt, protein bars, etc. Everything is always on sale! If you ever see anything at full price, just come back around the next day, and chances are, it will be marked down substantially. Although customers had to endure many months of dust and unorganized racks for the big remodel, it has definitely paid dividends. Not only are the aisles much more aesthetically pleasing, but they are well stocked, with items easy to locate. The fruit and vegetable stands are plentiful and decorative. The workers are also very polite, and unlike many other cheapskate stores, this Safeway is never understaffed, so nothing but the finest in customer service is offered at all times. In the past, going to the supermarket has never been the most pleasurable experience for me, but this place almost takes the pain out of it all. I really love grocery shopping at this "Open 24hrs" Safeway. The staff is always friendly and helpful, everything is organized, and the best part is that it's only 5 minutes from my place!! Today was the first time I shopped at 4am, having woken up at 3am with a strange craving to make mango sorbet. I arrived to an empty parking lot. As I approach the store, I can see through the storefront windows that employees are hard at work restocking shelves and polishing the floor. I approached the produce section and proceeded to ask an employee if they had any mangoes. He replied YES and told me they are by the pineapples, pointing me to the back of the store. I walked towards the section and saw that mangoes were on sale $10 for 10. I started to pick up each mango, smell, and feel for ripeness. The recipe called for 3 mangoes. I decided to get 6 instead just so I can make 2 batches. When I was done, I swung by the cooking utensil area and picked up a strainer. After I got my mangoes and strainer, I walked towards the checkout line. To no surprise, I was the FIRST in line!!! There was a sign on the checkout conveyor belt which said the checker is on aisle 11 restocking shelf. Before I was able to turn around, the checker arrived. She scanned everything and helped me place the mangoes and strainer I purchased into a brown paper bag I had brought along with me while I paid. Shortly after, I uploaded a picture of the receipt onto YELP and left the store. Overall, I had an awesome experience shopping at 4am and will probably do so again next time I have a strange craving at 3am. FIVE STARS for my favorite local grocery market!! SOME MANGO SORBET TIPS: 1. Strain the mango puree to remove the fibers from the mango. This will make the sorbet have a smooth taste. 2. Add a tiny bit of rum or vodka to the mix. This is the Safeway I frequent when I'm in the area. It is your typical Safeway. I like the fact that it is clean and always open! I don't know if they are open 24 hours or not, but it's convenient enough for me. I got some sandwiches to go from the deli once. We took them to Half Moon Bay and had a picnic. They were awesome! We had some leftover sandwiches and forgot to cover them...some rogue seagull took off with it on the beach. What's great about this location is that it is very close to the Lakes and Rosemont housing area. I love being walking distance! And you don't have to cross any major streets! I always gawk at those mansions on the way that went up recently that back onto the freeway. Makes me thankful for my humble non-McMansion home with a yard and soul. read more

It seems this is the only store in town that is sanitizing carts and baskets. They also have a greeter at the door making sure we're wearing our mask. Also inside they are cleaning regularly. The bathrooms haven't look this food as long as people will stop tagging them. Store has been full lately I e been able to get almost all my items. This Safeway needs better management. There is not enough staff or food in stock to accommodate our community. I am forced to purchase other brands or choose a different kind of meat because there is never enough of what I need on hand. The shelves are empty, the lines are long and employees are overworked. And what happened to good customer service? They used to ask if we need help out but not anymore. I miss Raley's! Sprouts will open in Raley's old location soon. This review is for Christina in the deli! I've been to this location many times, and have received sub-par, borderline rude service from the deli employees. I usually feel unwelcomed when I go in to order a sandwich. This time, I was pleasantly surprised. Christina greeted me, and I explained to her that I would need sandwiches packed for a long haul airplane ride, basically a deconstructed sandwich. Based on my past experiences I was nervous to even ask her to do it, but she totally understood what I needed, and went out of her way to make my request happen! Since U.C. has 10.25% tax now (LAME!!!) we now go to Safeway for our weekly grocery trip. I really like this one because the cashiers are really nice and there's always someone around me when I need help with something. I especially like the guy behind the fish counter because he was really trying to get us to buy a pound of shrimp or tilapia. He wasn't pushy or anything, I just thought it was cute to see him asking everyone. haha. Usually those guys are just asking if you need help. Anyways, although it can be pricer than most other grocery stores, this only store where I have a card to get the discounts. If you really look hard, there are some specialty items too, like a Fruit & Nut Medley. Sooo yummy. I absolutely love the self checkout because I can pay with my piggy bank change. It's awesome! you just dump the change down the slot and it counts it for you. Just be aware that you can only dump the coins down there when the light is green, otherwise it's going to spit back out. I learned that the hard way. This is your typical Safeway store, with nothing out of the ordinary, so I needed to do a comparison review contrasting their main competition. I normally shop across the street at Raley's, as I don't like the consistently hectic pace here. Safeway draws about four times the amount of shoppers for the same amount of space. But there are some advantages. Lower prices, if you don't mind using the club card. I saved more than 10% on similar items. They are open 24/7; very convenient. An appealing bakery section. I like the layout, and the bread tasted really fresh. The choices in the deli section are on par with Raley's The produce section is larger, but not any better. The employees I encountered were all helpful and friendly. The big negative is that the natural food and supplements section is limited, with not as much variety. A good place to shop if you don't mind crowds. read more
