I'm extremely frustrated with what is going on at this Safeway and nearby location. They have a Pokémon card vending machine that's supposed to be for customers, but it's basically pointless because employees in, particularly 1, are clearing it out every restock cycle. This isn't occasional, it happens daily. Employees are the constantly, even every hour, waiting for the machine to be refilled and then immediately buying the cycle out. I've seen the same pattern at the Tennant Safeway, where the same group goes between stores and wipe out both machines. What makes it even worse is that this happens even when other customers are standing there with their children waiting. Instead of giving everyone a fair chance, employees take everything as soon as it's available. It feels incredibly unfair and unprofessional. Whether management is aware or not, this reflects really poorly on the store. There should be a clear policies preventing employees from taking advantage of restocks like this. At this point, there is no reason to even bother checking these machines, they are always empty or the employees are hanging out waiting for the restock. It's a really disappointing experience for the kids/collectors, who then have to go pay scalper prices for these items. read more

This store is always clean and friendly. That said, Safeway as a whole should lower their prices. They are a chain store and buy in mass bulk. The prices should reflect that to the customer. On the flip side they have a large variety to find what I need. Their sushi counter and hot foods counter are great for getting a quick lunch. $5 Fridays offer great deals. If there is one complaint I have it is that often their produce is rotting or about to rot. With the mass volume they do and how often their produce people are filling shelves, they should be checking for bad produce continually. Not waiting for customers to complain or hand it to them. I love this Safeway. I've been going here for years. The produce and meat selection are great and the staff are friendly and helpful. One time my son lost his planes and the managers were able to find it and when returning it, the staff played along. They said they found his planes in the tortillas. This Safeway is clean and is an experienced I recommend going on Fridays for the deals. read more

Update: 2/11 The store manager resolved the issue. Her employee started my online order but failed to finish it. She said she will follow up with her late today and let me know why the order wasn't finished. The three star is for the employee for not finishing my order. Also for(if it was her) telling me that the department closes at 630pm. (Lie) the store manager said that the department closed at 7pm. I put the order in at 130pm for a delivery between 5-7pm I placed an order on the Safeway app at 11 AM on Monday and chose a delivery time slot between 5-7 PM. However, the order was never delivered. I received an email indicating that my order was delayed and that I would receive another email when the delivery was on the way. Finally, at 9:30 PM, I called customer service via the app, and they directed me to call the store. Upon calling the store, I was informed that my order was never prepared, and that the department closes at 6:30 PM. I suggested to the representative that the app shouldn't allow customers to select time slots that are not feasible. To add to my frustration, the online customer service representative responded with an attitude when I expressed my inconvenience. After I typed "Shit more inconvenience," they told me not to use profanity. I replied, pointing out that their mistake was causing me issues and they were getting upset with me. As a busy person, using the app helps me manage my schedule, but this experience has made me reconsider using the delivery system. We mostly get our groceries from Safeway or Trader Joes, since there is no Whole Foods in Morgan Hill. This Safeway location is pretty good, the staff has always been friendly. I haven't had any issues with this place. We also get things delivered from here. But the recent delivery wasn't as good as expected. We had guests over for an event at home and we needed few things so I ordered online and paid extra for it to be delivered within a timeframe. They forgot one of my the items that I'm pretty sure I paid for. And I got vanilla flavored yogurt instead of plain yogurt, that would've almost ruined my savory dish. It doesn't seem like a lot but small things do matter when it comes to service. read more

Wow, I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. I'm your average Safeway shopper and have never had any issues with this location. The store is conveniently located on E. Dunne by 101 and is in the same plaza as Home Depot. I've ordered a custom cake from their bakery as well as custom fruit platters for a work event. The staff was helpful and accommodating (especially with my fruit platter order) and the quality was good too. read more

Rose's for Leading up to Valentines Day. Now this is not about me. Well kind of... you see it's my wife and my first Valentines as a married couple. I want it to be memorable. So everyday I have gone in to the floral department here at Safeway to purchase a single rose for her. The people that work this department have been amazing. They have bouquets all over and sometimes singles in the back. When they don't they are so nice to let me pick from one of the made up ones. They always great me with a smile and have been extremely helpful. I will say I came here on the 2nd after going to a flower shop in the area. Ok, I have been going to this store since it opened. And there are some great people that work there, mostly. But, ,lately in the Deli the people seem to know nothing! Not helpful and boarder on rude. When you ask them a question the response is, "I don't know ". We ask,"is there anyone else here that would know"? His response,"nope". Really?!?! At around 8:30 am on December 9th I was in the checkout line and as I approached the cashier I greeted the lady working and she scanned my three items. When it was time to pay I did but had forgotten to add $20 in cash to the card payment. I then proceeded to ask nicely if she could refund everything, so I could then add my $20, she immediately said, " I can't" with no hesitation I then asked why and she responded with, "the receipt already printed." I let her know that I had previously worked in customer service and that I knew for a fact that she could do it. She then says she had a line to help and that I had to go to customer service if I had a problem. Upon that I really believe you should do a review of some employees. I have always watched the Manager Specials in the meat dep. for years, when the sell by date is getting close the policy has always been to discount the item 30% off of the lowest marked price and 50% off in the PM of the day of expiration. Either the store manager or someone at corporate is too dumb to understand this. Pork loan is reg, priced at $10.99, sale price is $6.99, I see the sell by date is today and point it out to the meat dep. so they offer to give me 30% off of the original price. Do these people just think the customer is stupid or what? Lets see, sale price is $4.00 off or I could buy their expiring product for only $3.30 off. I call this zero customer service. read more

This review is for the kindness of the pharmacist. I was released from rehab on a Friday afternoon with prescriptions for narcotics. We had already been to a rude Walgreens and a cold CVS. I was told I could not call ahead to find out if they have controlled substances on had. I had to show up, prescription in hand. This pharmacy did not have any on hand, but the kind pharmacist was able to call other stores to find out if they had any on hand. She knew which Safeway was most likely to have on hand. She called, verified and sent us on our way. It takes a lot for me to write a yelp review. But, acts of kindness speak volumes. I'm a big fan of Safeway, partially biased because I've been going to this chain since I was a little child with the parental units so when we were in dire need of caffeine (being out in the sun out on the water all day saps my energy) we located one via the handy Yelp app. Right off the highway, with easy on/off to the 101, this Safeway was very clean and bustling with activity. The Starbucks counter is located immediately to the right of the entrance so we first went to utilize the restrooms, which were also very clean and located towards the back of the store. On the way back, we grabbed a sugar-free Redbull and a Monster drink and headed to the self-checkout. At the Starbucks counter, we ordered two venti iced coffees and a tall Chai. Drinks were exactly how they were reflected on the menu board but we wanted to slap another patron for being such a high maintenance coffee person. She kept up monopolizing the poor person's time by saying, "drink is not hot enough, did you remember the one pump of blah blah, I want to make sure this is blah blah, I ordered this blah blah.." Basically she is the type of person who shouldn't be a customer anywhere because their demands are so ridiculous and picky, her ass should just stay at home and make her own crap. We felt bad for the lady assisting her, so just a quick shout-out "great job" for holding your cool. I would have lost it, which is another reason I am not in food service. Kudos! This is a typical Safeway so I know the layout blindfolded. Produce and the chips section were well stocked (looked for my Smartfood white cheddar popcorn) and locating the energy drinks was not a problem. I looked at the Tillamook Cheddar Cheese sticks in the deli section but decided against it since we did not have a cooler. Great staff, clean store, Starbucks inside, no homeless people loitering inside/outside (SF sucks in this regard), and easy access from the highway. read more
