I really hate giving out one star reviews. But so tired of going there after work to pick up a few few things in standing in long lines because they have one cashier open. It's not a one time thing. It's definitely a staffing decision. Typically go to Trader Joe's, but sometimes you need to go for variety or other reasons. I'll even go to Nob Hill if I can avoid Safeway, but sometimes I can't and then I'm stuck in the line. read more

So far, so good. Been coming to this location for the last 4 years. Most employees Ive come across are kind, helpful and friendly. Ive also been to the other safeway on E. Dunne and compared to that, I rather come to this one if possible. The other location has a handful of people that have already been pretty grouchy to me for no reason. I was absolutely appalled by my experience at Safeway Tennant station this afternoon. I had asked to make a simple return on an item I had accidentally scanned twice. The cashier, Connie, was extremely rude, and when I continued to ask if I could have the return put back on my card, she said and I quote "I'm just gonna give you cash, I'm not gonna do that to myself"...This behavior was appalling, I am generally given good customer service from this location, this was shocking and disappointing, and I hope management can fix the behavior within Connie, for the sake of their customers. I just found my receipt back from May where I received excellent customer service. I finally found the names I wrote on the receipt so I want to give a shout out to Jean, John and Holly in the floral department. I ended up going first to Dunne and didn't get the customer service service I generally expect there. I was first in line waiting to have my flowers wrapped and I was told to wait as friends of the young lady wrapping were pushed ahead as they walked into the store and taken first. Several of us saw what was happening and left. Yes, I understand it was Mother's Day weekend but I shouldn't have needed to go to Dunne. Well let me tell you the customer service here went above and beyond and yes. I understand everyone was busy but THIS LOCATION and group went above and beyond for their customers making sure we were all heard. Not one person was ignored and all were happily acknowledged. Thank you Jean, John and Holly. You all rock and each and every one of you gave excellent customer service and btw arrangements were beautiful! I should know better and stick with excellence! Came in on Thanksgiving to get a couple pies and ice cream. The insider of the store had some festive decor for thanksgiving and Christmas I also noted that it's kind of darker inside. I think they are trying to make the store look more upper crusty. Well it works as far as looks go. But there prices even sale prices are high in my opinion. I was able to get a pumpkin pie and a mix berry pie with Strawberry, Blackberry and Raspberry. I got to say the mix berry pie was delish. For ice cream I decided to take a chance and get the Tillamook Marionberry "boy was it good, creamy and super delicious" At the check out I tried to strike up a conversation with the cashier "tried" honestly I've had a better conversation with a pet rock. Somebody decided to check his personality at the door. What a shame. read more

Continue your frustrating journey with display stuffed spaces and blocked aisles with Safeway shoppers and stockers clogging the way. If you like meat you'll be happy to know that some of the overpriced flesh is past its due date (with chicken no less!). Be sure and enjoy the aroma of rancid meat as you pass by the butcher. Lastly round up your patience endurance test with ONE checker for 10 registers and MAYBE 2 out of 4 self checkouts working if they are even open. I really love shopping here but yesterday I went to buy groceries with my daughter. I got an extra item and even before to get out of the store I went to costumer service to ask for returning it, the lady since the beginning was extremely rude she took the item and when I was trying to explain why I was returning it she cut me off and said "I don't care I'm going to throw it anyway" I didn't say anything to her and when she was processing my refund she took a garbage bottle and threw the item, I wanna say it was uncomfortable I felt like I was doing something wrong returning the item. Then I said "thank you have a wonderful day you were very nice" and she answered back " I don't fu** care being nice with you" I just said bye with my hand and left the store, my daughter is 11 years old didn't want to do a big deal in front of my daughter. read more

Place an order online yesterday for delivery yesterday between 6p-10p. No one showed up. No one text/call. I called Customer Service this morning and they told me to call the store because they couldn't see that my order was being worked on. I called the store only to find out that the items that I ordered were out of stock and no one told me. I received a confirmation email along with a confirmation text along with them charging my card. Their system is dumb. When they know an item is out of stock, they should call the customer and let them know instead of letting them wait around for it. The lady who answered my call was not apologetic at all. read more

I arrived home to discover that the box of lasagna noodles I bought were all broken. Can't make lasagna with broken noodles. I called the store and Antoinette found a box of unbroken noodles and left them at the online pick-up spot for my partner to pick up for me. She called me to let me know she found them and where to pick them up. She saved dinner and threw in extra noodles to boot! Excellent customer service experience! I love my Safeway store. read more

This Safeway is normally substandard, at best, but today's experience finally took it to levels of mediocrity. I stopped in at the Deli to pick up a breakfast burrito. The "supervisor" Lena starts by using a MOLDED tortilla. Then when I tell her about it, she takes her normally crummy attitude and makes it worse. When I tell her that I want a veggie burrito, so please make it two egg whites, she grunts, "you don't have to tell me that, I already know". Geez, what does it take just to be courteous? This isn't my first encounter with this person. Honestly, how she became a "supervisor" is beyond me. I am at Safeway on Tennant all the time. everyone is so pleasant but today they went ABOVE and BEYOND! i parked at the bowling alley and walked over just to get a few things. i saw a couple pumpkins that were perfect for carving and only $5 so I put them in my cart (forgetting I walked over). so at check out i apologized to Joel who was checking me out that I wouldn't be able to take them. He said no problem, but if you'd like them Luis (who was helping bag) would be happy to walk there with you and the cart and will unlock the cart when I come to the sensor. Luis walked to the parking lot with me helped load my bags and pumpkins into my car and took the cart back. that was so nice of you both!!! big kiddos to Joel and Luis for your amazing customer service today!!! read more

Just took two hours to gather all ingredients and the best deals but they couldn't rain check me or manually add digital deals) my phone refused to scan. The crew was two people and they were so new that they were apologetic but couldn't be any help. So they suggested I come back for the digital coupon money and I decided since the store was so empty( people think it's only open til 11, not 2a.m. - get the alcohol sales, right? Idk, it just irritates me that they had no idea what to do and saying come back for the money on the deals as a valued member didn't sound right. Oh and last week Friday special on roses was not so special I bought 2 dozen @ $5 each and baby breath @4.99. The florist made it all pretty but the next day they were all brown and dead. I should have driven back and got my refund but for some reason ( life maybe?) I didn't have a chance to go in til tonight, 6 days later. I'm sure these were isolated incidents but I am going to steer clear of the late ( after 9) night shopping for now. That's about it. read more

This Safeway has some of the most ignorant dumbest employees I've ever seen. Places an online delivery order to be delivered between 5-6 it is now and hour and a half late and still not here. No email or phone call or anything. When I called the store he could barley tell me anything. They're so lazy. No one does they're job Update: they brought my grocery's 2 hours late and forgot half the order twice!!!! An employee had to go around the store while I was in the phone to complete it. God bless the delivery woman who kept going back and forth for me. I decided to try them again today, 2 weeks later, and same thing so far. Had an order for between 9-10 it's now 10:30 and nothing. read more

When I was a kid I never imagined leaving reviews for places when I got older. It's not like I wanted to be a yelper when I grew up. I don't even think Yelp was a thing when I was a kid. How can you even dream about being a yelper when there is no Yelp, it can't be done. What I'm trying to say is even if I could dream about being a yelper when I grew up, that's not what younger Luke was dreaming about. Life changes though and somewhere along the lifeline I became a Yelper. If my 10 year old self saw me right now he'd be so confused/proud/disappointed. He'd be confused that I'm leaving so many reviews and two of those hundreds of reviews are about Safeway. He'd be proud that my grammar/spelling has improved. Then he'd be somewhat disappointed that I'm not in the NBA or MLS. 25 year old Luke would tell 10 year old Luke, "I'm just as confused as you are with the reviews. And it never gets old spelling a tough word correctly or finishing a grammatically correct sentence. I'm still in awe with myself to this day. And finally, I don't think you ever really wanted to be a professional athlete, you just really like playing FIFA. Don't worry you'll always have FIFA and video games keep getting more and more realistic, so eventually you might feel like a professional soccer player when you're playing FIFA. And for the NBA dream, you're not that tall right now and you're not going to get much taller, so give up on that." All I'm trying to say is I didn't think I was going to be a yelper when I grew up. I sure didn't think I was going to leave a review about a Safeway twice, but look at me now. I can understand accidentally giving a Safeway a 5 star review once, but if you give a second 5 star review to a Safeway, it's not an accident anymore. Safeway as a whole must be doing something right. What they did that was so right by me is give me a flu shot. I thought they only sold groceries, but apparently they save lives too. The flu shot was free! They accept most insurances. I even got a 10% discount on my next grocery visit for getting the flu shot. They reward you for doing something that's good for you and your community. If Safeway continues to expand their boundaries, maybe one day I'll be getting my dentist appointment here too! read more

This review is mostly with the deli and beverages, I rated this as a 2 star "Meh. I've experienced better." Simply because I really have. There are plenty of Safeways around so I've been to a lot to know. As as their deli goes, I am not upset at the employees. Employees are great, but it seems as if the store manager, or deli manager, tells the workers to go SKIMP with the meat and other condiments in the sandwiches. Compared to other Safeways, the amount of meat and ingredients are on the skimp side. Also they hardly stock Diet Mountain Dew, or the BLUE Rockstars. This is a nice, clean Safeway with a good selection of products, produce, bakery items, deli, household cleaning supplies, beer, wine, flowers, etc. Organized isles and a public restroom that needed a little attention but was useable. We stopped here so I could pee, but I also did some browsing and ended up buying some sodas and some Christmas stuff that was on sale. My local store doesn't keep stuff past the holidays so I was happy to see this store had sale items available. I love a great deal and they had plenty! read more

3.5 I was completely floored by the floral department here -- tons of beautiful flowers in various arrangements and from a wide range of price points. Apparently Safeway has teamed up with a designer, Debi Lilly, which has resulted in some seriously beautiful and affordable options. I saw orchids, hydrangeas, tulips, roses, etcetera. Perfect for Mother's Day. In addition, this Safeway occasionally has a frappuccino happy hour at the Starbucks kiosk so all the frappes are half off. ~$2 for a tall frappe is a steal my friends! With that said, I was happy with the increasing amount of organic brands being offered (e.g. Organicville!) and frequent sales. Otherwise, the standard grocery items are just so-so (limited organic/grassfed meats) and the produce section could be better (I couldn't find any lemongrass!). Not bad! read more

I bought some apple/berry pastries in the bakery. My husband bit into one and there was a big piece of mold in the middle. I looked at the sell-buy date and it had already expired the day I bought it. My bad for not checking the date carefully, but come on Safeway, I expect better from you. This was my favorite store for grocery shopping, but I'm bailing and will find another store. Oh, and the grocery cart wheels lock up right in the middle of shopping. read more

The worst customer service of any grocery store in the area. Consistently making errors in charging! Make sure you check your receipts. Today I was over charged $21.15. And the young lady helping me did not know the stores policy of the $5 gift card when you are overcharged. Apparently an off duty employee found it necessary to involve herself in my return transaction and then wanted to argue with me. Unacceptable. Last week there were cans of tomatoes that were incorrectly marked $10.50 per can. I told an employee who was assigned to "help" me (it was actually help for the store, not me). He told me I was talking to the wrong person because he wasn't in charge of pricing. Really? Arggggg. There's more but it's a lot of little things that continue to add up.
