I work near this Safeway and I usually do the drive up and go service, they have pretty much things I need. They have a few friendly faces and are helpful when asked. I went in to get a couple of things, they do have a good selection, but there are a few aisles the look blown out. As I was shopping, it feels a little dark and looks a sad while you are shopping, that's the feeling I get when I go inside. I like Safeway , totally . It's a store we can count on . Mill valley has two Safeway's , both about the same , but strawberry village is a quick shot off the highway . Both stores are busy , that's constant , but they all are working hard to get you in and out . Today we bought a Butterball . Usually we do a Willie bird or Diesel , last several years , my Mom does a brine Willie bird from Williams Sonoma . But ultimately the butterball rocks ! Target usually has them on sale , we did not check that , oh well . It's starting to feel chaotic out there , we saw a accident happen right in front of us in the city & then encountered a bad one in Novato . I stopped by Safeway to buy some water and use the ladies room before heading back to Sacramento. This Safeway is located right off Highway 101. It's a medium sized store and the aisles are well speced out. It wasn't busy when I came by and was able to check out pretty quick! read more

Very clean and well organized store, particularly good produce. They are a little slow restocking some very popular items, and have discontinued some items I was addicted to - probably a corporate decision. Because of location in Marin, there does tend to be a lot of very elderly shoppers who are very slow at check out leading to long lines at staffed checked stations, but there is a self-checkout area with plenty of stations so you can avoid this problem. read more

I go to this Safeway a couple times a week at least, usually for lunch. I park my truck near here on my lunchbreak, so I come here for lack of other options if anything. I like Whole Foods (who doesn't?) but it's just too expensive for everyday use. Compared to other Safeways, this one is pretty weak. Here is why: Sushi was semi frozen Staff is cold and unwelcoming Understaffed in the deli area One of the sandwiches I had tasted pretty rank, like maybe the Ham had turned? It had an almost fishy taste, and I couldn't finish it. This Safeway is absolutely awesome. Anytime that I can drop by the Safeway in Strawberry it is an absolute treat. The staff is excellent. The manager is extremely pleasant and makes sure that you are well taken care of the store is always spotless and the place feels so warm and inviting. I could only wish other stores would follow suit. When I can't make it in, I order online. A young man named Daniel is simply as good as it gets. He is so kind and thoughtful and professional. I don't know where this Safeway finds such amazing people. If you order online and the item is out of stock, he will immediately reach out to you to make sure your order is satisfactory and everything you want. This store is my favorite place to shop at or order online. I would like to than the entire Safeway staff because when you get older, things get more challenging. Shopped this store this afternoon and was caught by surprise. The store is well-stocked, bright, clean, people were practicing good social distancing and there were enough employees to help when needed. We waited roughly 20-25 minutes in line which is to be expected right now. The employees were attentive, thorough and were enforcing company policies with regard to public health and safety. Special shout out to: Marchelle and Josh (Front End Manager) who handled rather gracefully the frustrations of a man behind me. Josh even opened a special check stand for the man so he could buy his essentials (his vodka kept him from going through self-check.) Finally I have found the best deli in safeway ever! I love getting breakfast burritos. And I always have problems when I ask people to make some custom adjustments fo me. Its always ether badly made or they complain. But not this lady! She was so nice and she was so helpful and she made the best breakfast burrito ever. I was in haven. I'm so disappointed with the lack of customer service at the deli. I'm on crutches with a broken leg. I grabbed a premade sandwich so I wouldn't Ve to stand in line (painful) and went to the deli counter to pay. There was only one customer at the counter having a sandwich made when I stepped up. A few more people walked up and the man making sandwiches looked at me and said I'd have to go to the checkout lines to pay for it. I asked, "with my crutches?" He pointed to the people lining up to have sandwiches made and said, then you'll have to wait. Two days ago I was at the same deli and I asked the woman behind the counter if they have the motorized shopping carts (still on my crutches). She could have gotten on the phone and asked for me, but instead replied, "I don't know. You'll have to go ask customer service." Today, I unfortunately was presented with a very distasteful racial remark by this gentleman, Sal. I am an Instacart worker, who was in line behind a couple. They were getting checked out by this man who then looked at me, then back at them and proceeded to make a joke saying "Well somebody's jumping the border" in a snarky tone. The couple then looked at me and we all looked back at him, as no one laughed. This was very disrespectful as I am of Latina decent and very distasteful and obviously prejudice considering I'm not even Mexican. Obviously rooted in hate. Often times we are so wrapped up in our own shit, we forget that there is a person on the other end who is also just trying to do their job. Waiting for a sandwich can seem like the end of the world when you are hungry and there is only one person preparing them. However today I ordered a sandwich from the Safeway deli and although it was great this review is more about the person who prepared it. She not only was dealing with multiple customers, she ran to the back to get the bread i specifically wanted. Further more she rang me up and with all that work and running around managed a smile and asked about my day. She brightened mine for sure! December 23rd and only 3 lanes staffed. Will management never learn how to run this store? Lines 6-7 people deep. So frustrating. I try note to be negative or write negative reviews, however; multiple poor experiences from the same person/location are unacceptable. The front end manager fails to make eye contact, fails to great or even say hello, and comes across as rude and unprofessional. Not once or twice, but consistently. Shame on Safeway for not monitoring and/or training their people on customer service. I'll be giving my money to "Nugget" grocery going forward. It might cost a couple extra dollars, but their employees treat you as a valued guest. What you need to know about this particular store is that right inside the South Entrance is a Soup Cart . . . . . . . and on that cart are hot kettles of several kinds of Signature Soups. All are good . . . but get the Tomato Basil, if you are sick . . . . a large container is less than $5. ( Hint: I promised not to tell, but it is a tip too good not to pass on. There continues to be a problem with the credit card reader on check stand #7, the express checkout lane. It is the only reader in the store that does not read the chip on my card. None of the other readers in other stores have a problem with it. Also, the quality of produce in the store has gone down in the past few months. The zucchini are small, bruised and dirty. The string beans are pale, tough, tasteless and a gnarled mess instead of the large, straight, plump, deep green beans from months ago. Yet the pre-trimmed beans look much better. The problem is that the one package I purchased, the beans smelled like dog poop and tasted bad. Has Safeway changed produce suppliers? What is causing the problem? read more

Very poorly managed Safeway. Only one employee in the deli dept today and he was making sandwiches so I had to go to a diff Safeway. Some of the checker employees smell like they have not showered in some time - sorry, but true. Asked another employee where to find something and she did not speak English. Plus, signs outside parking lot warning you to lock your valuables out of plain sight. So, that means what was at one time a great neighborhood, Strawberry, is no longer. We went in for some ice cream just wanted two ice cream bars I'm disabled - every single cart was pulled up next to the disabled space. see the photo!! When will people start understanding that hatch marks are not to store carts in, People in wheelchairs need that extra space to move around people who are disabled and they're not in wheelchairs need that space to move around!!! We got our wedding cake here. The cake turned out fantastic. It was packaged for easy transportation. It was priced very reasonably, much cheaper then any other place we looked at. There were a lot of options to choose from and you can change the colors to whatever you want. The cake also tasted great and no one even knew we got it from a grocery store! The service here is normally mediocre, but that sinks to extremely poor after 11 pm. I was in the store this evening (12:30 am Wednesday, 6-21-17). They are re-arranging parts of the store, so I had to ask where two items were - absolutely wrong instructions both times, as I was directed to a completely incorrect aisle where I wandered around. When I complained to the lady who gave me the bad steer (in her 20s, maybe latina or Filipina), she looked extremely annoyed and searched herself, finally finding the items. No apology. No regrets - simply annoyance that I had upset her routine. Check-out was far worse. The single checker was a white guy with a mustache, 40-50, mild-mannered, who couldn't be bothered to communicate clearly or expedite a problem that developed. He was so slow at least 4 people left the line to go to an adjacent one who finally showed up - the other checker (an Asian guy) handled three customers to my checker's one. (That guy never bothered to turn on his lane light, though, which left him unoccupied about half the time, which he seemed to enjoy. When questioned about his lane light being off, he shrugged and never turned it on.) When I told my checker how I felt, he mumbled something then went to help the next guy in line. Again not a word of apology. If someone could just teach him how to speak clearly, there might be some hope. What should have been a 15 minute shopping trip turned into 40 minutes. What are the chances I'll hear from a manager in response to this complaint or that they will take ANY corrective action at all? I would give it one-in-twenty. They must put all their least aware employees, those who don't give a damn about customers, on the night shift. read more
