I don't know why but this store and Albertsons on Boones Ferry are my main go to stores, l guess convenience. My wife and I just spent almost $300. and this was not the first trip. They only have maybe two employees that don't seem like they are ready to end their life. I try to be upbeat and get them to smile. I feel real bad that they have to work. I payed my dues and was lucky enough to retire. Who knows I may have to go back to work someday, please lord if I do don't let me be that miserable! I'd say the store met expectations. They had what I was looking for. Plenty of convenient parking. The checker was very friendly, although I get the impression many of the customers here are not friendly. The store was reasonably clean. Plenty of shopping carts, and even the small ones like I like. I bought milk here, got it back to my hotel, and it was cold and fresh. All in all a good experience. read more

While this isn't part of my regular weekly shopping, I have been here dozens of times because good friends live in Lake O down the street. So I stop in to pick up something to contribute to a meal or to pick up items for myself in my way home. There has never been a time when I haven't been frustrated - either with how slow the cashiers are, the lack of adherence to masks, or waiting forever for someone to show up at the Customer Service counter. How can they consistently lack in basic servicing? The food and prices are the same as other Safeway's but the larger footprint sometimes makes it difficult to find items. Those aisles are long! When I am in this part of town and I need items I can't get at Trader Joe's, I stop here. People keep saying prices at Trader Joe's are higher and that simply is not true. Bagged salads at TJs are $1.99 vs $2.99 at Safeway; same difference with bagged nuts, dried fruit, snacks, cheese, pasta, ground turkey - the list goes on and on. Located right in Lower Boones Ferry with plenty of parking out front and easy access to I-5, makes it convenient. Just wish they would up the customer service training both in efficiency and actual "service." And put a bell at the customer service counter so when the person "manning" self check out is also the person working the Customer Service counter, they know when a customer is waiting. read more

Safeway - a supermarket aisle filled with toys - Grocery Near Me - Lake Oswego, Oregon

This store is grossly understaffed; I lose minutes with every visit. Tonight when I arrived, the door was locked. A male employee who is morbidly obese and was leaning on a grocery cart for support was on the other side of the door. He stared blankly at me when I motioned to the other door, wondering if it was open. When I asked why the door was locked, he said they have been locking the doors at 11:50 for the past 2 months so they can "go home at midnight." My iPhone read 11:47. I told him I just needed a single item. The store's posted hours state they are open until midnight. If management won't pay their employees for the extra minutes staff has to work to clear out customers, then change your damned hours. And know that your unmotivated employees are turning people away even earlier than their "amended" hours. Ugh. read more

Yesterday my pick up order was ready 2.5 hours after the confirmed pick up time. When I went in to complain to Casey Howard, the store manager he was completely indifferent about the situation and sent me out the door with a WHOLE $5 gift card to shut me up. The manager sited that they had some new employees. I asked why someone had not called to let me know the store was running 2-3 hours behind and to that Casey had no answer. I am also wondering why the store manager wasn't in the back with his sleeves rolled up trying to help catch up on the pick up orders? Overall the complacency of this store's management shows everyday in the lack of cleanliness, customer service and how under stocked the shelves are the majority of the time. WORST SAFEWAY EVER! Why am I reviewing a grocery store?! The experiences here are just so bad I had to. 1. They DO NOT accept any coupons and will accuse you of presenting fraudulent coupons if you try to talk it out with them (even though the coupons are WATERMARKED). 2. Incompetent pharmacy staff. 3. I found a hair AND a piece of plastic in my deli sandwich. 4. Everyone who works there looks unhappy with their lives. 5. There were aisles that smelled like vomit. I usually would choose Safeway over Albertson's but in this case, the Albertson's a few blocks down on the same street has amazing customer service. You can tell the vibe inside the store is different as well. *Special note: If you have Chobani yogurt coupons from the product recall they had recently, Alberton's and New Seasons will gladly accept them. read more

Appalling that this Safeway is very casual about mask wearing. While visiting today I saw store employees restocking shelves without masks, vendors taking inventory-taking products off shelves and putting them back without gloves or masks. Checkers had masks but no other protections(no plastic barriers). I will not go there again. read more

Still in line at the deli counter for 10 minutes and then finally called customer service desk. They called for help but did not send anyone. After that standing in line because they don't hire enough cashiers to help people. I was told when I called back to customer service that they are trying to hire at this time. Would've been quicker to drive to Fred Meyer 5 miles away to allow to be back to work on time from lunch. This is the worst ran Safeway if ever visited. read more

This Safeway is my go to place for groceries. I've been doing the drive up and go for a little while now. When I got home after picking up my most recent order I noticed 3 bags worth of items missing. I called the store and Alicia Curry the Director (or manager, I can't remember) answered the phone. The day way very hectic and busy for me, so I asked if I could have the store deliver the items for free the following morning. She said the store doesn't deliver, but that she would be happy to bring the groceries to me once she got off work. I said no and that I could get them in the morning, but she kept insisting that she wanted to bring them to me, so I said okay. She turned my negative experience into a positive one and I appreciate the effort she made for me. read more

Norvinia must be fired! Alicia, the new director, can join her. We've tried complaining about Norvinia since July 5th when she accused us of not being able to read two pages titled "Portland" in fine print supposedly about Lake Oswego's no plastic bag law. (This Safeway is in the Clackamas County portion and not in L.O. proper. ). When I said they aren't even in L.O., she proceeded to complain to me about her minimum wage. She then threw a tantrum, said she didn't need this, then started walking away. No problem, went to Greg B., the night manager, and he said he'd check us out. As he was walking over, Norvinia told us to go F ourselves twice! Greg said there were a couple of bad attitudes working there but it seems he has no power to fire/hire. Susan is another nasty cashier too. We've been shopping here for ten years. It's bad enough their pharmacy overcharged us a total of $1500 in one year for medicine covered by our insurance because Gigi is too lazy to call BCBS; she then blamed us for the overcharges. Nothing is ever her fault even when you tell her the prescription is wrong and then she leaves it in the system instead of deleting it. They ended up sneaking the wrong dosage medication (in capsule form; can't break it in half) and refuse to take back said wrong medication even if you catch it in store. Recently, they tried to charge us over $200 for a medication our insurance says only has a $45 deductible. They are still trying to overcharge despite being informed of right pricing. Maybe they're pocketing the extra money as in embezzlement? Back to Norvinia: We were told Matt left and so we've waited for a new director. We don't shop here nearly as often as in the past now. Greg told us about Alicia last Friday, reminded us he was there the night Norvinia told us to go F ourselves, and asked if we would come back to shop like we used to do. (Unless it's for our autistic son who likes a certain thing they carry, we don't bother.). We told him with employees like Norvinia, we wouldn't! After talking to Alicia today and her non-chalant attitude, we have permanently banned this store. Alicia couldn't care less and when told about the F bombs, she didn't even flinch! Switching pharmacies too! Safeway corporate needs to send out the "big dogs" and revamp the whole staff. Until then, a boycott should be enacted against this place. When an employee can drop F bombs and curse out customers let alone those who have shopped there for over ten years and keep her job, it's proven itself unworthy of a business license. BTW, plastic bags are back since they aren't truly in L.O., go figure... read more

This Safeway has a lot of good quality foods and great prices. They've included organic and local produce and have some decent goods in the bakery. It's clean and well organized. Furthermore, there's a trader Joe's nearby that would fit inside 2 aisles of this Safeway that charges more for the same brands, and for some reason it has 4 stars. Based on the price, quality of goods, and comparable stores nearby, this Safeway deserves 4 stars. read more

This is a pleasant, "lifestyle" format Safeway. It's not a gigantic store like some supermarkets in the northwest (and country) have become, but it's large enough that everything you'd generally be shopping for is carried. On my visit, I had a quick enough cashier and good product selection. To save on groceries at Safeway, look for the ad insert in the Sunday newspaper before the first week of the month. The chain is including $10 off $50 purchased in a trip for the first week of the month. Overall I thought I got a good value for the money I paid, but that's usually Safeway. It's the 'benchmark' of the middle-level price for groceries in this area in my opinion. Parking lot access was easy in, easy out. I was sad they did not seem to carry KIND bars, which are at Fred Meyer, Trader Joe's, Haggen Whole Foods and most places these days. I always think Safeway stands out a bit more when it comes to service departments, for example, the customer in front of me was getting a steal of a per pound price on salmon. I also like that the deli in the lifestyle stores always has a selection of Chinese food, made to order sandwiches and a "2 sides and an entree" meal combination. With the acquisition by Albertsons, the stores now fresh fry chicken, rather than the previous recipe, which involved cooking from frozen. The two Signature Cafe refrigerated entrees I purchased were good, but might require a little home cooking to properly serve. My chicken cacciatore would've been enhanced with some rice or pasta, for example. read more

This is for floral dept. -- they are just fantastic, and do absolutely beautiful arrangements.We got flower arrangements here for my mom's memorial service. I had forgotten to order any, and other florists in the area weren't able to do anything for me - they were booked/tapped out. One recommended the floral dept of this Safeway, saying it might sound odd but that they have a terrific floral dept. They really do. I ended up there the day before the service. They totally saved me, and the florists made the most lovely arrangement and had it ready exactly when I needed it. I'll go here for my florist needs from now on. read more

It's odd to review a Safeway, but this location is that bad. The olive bar is cool, and they have a lot of "natural" stuff, but not much else is impressive. Once in awhile after going to other Safeway's, I forget that I've sworn off this location and try again, usually leaving with another promise to self not to return again (until I forget). The deli: Almost every time I've gone, they have had one person trying to serve both the "ready to go dinner" type stuff as well as the actually deli stuff around the corner. So, even as the only person in line at the deli itself, a 5+ minute wait is pretty much the norm for over-priced lunch meat. A simple loaf of bread: It's a grocery store. Finding a loaf of bread should be easy. For some unknown reason, they have half of the bread in one place, and the other half across the bakery area. Why?? Even put together, the selection is very, very limited compared to any grocery store I've ever seen. Limited selection in general: The bread issue is only the tip of the iceberg. For example, let's say you are wishing to procure a jar of Ragu for some reason (such as it's usually cheaper and it's going into a recipe where Ragu will suffice). In any other store, you'd have a choice of anywhere from 3 - 10+ flavors of Ragu. Not here. There's one - the cheese sauce kind, no Ragu spaghetti sauce. This is only the most recent example, but there have been countless others, which is why I've sworn this store off. Personal space: The aisles are tighter than most grocery stores, so you spend a lot of time going nowhere, trying politely to get around someones big butt squatted down as they try to find something that doesn't exist. Prices: Bring your Safeway card and shop very carefully. Most stuff is more than it should be or is at other places, but with the Safeway card (which I hate, but it's a necessary evil), you can get some decent deals on select things. Just do that at another better location. The olive bar and having a Starbucks and even a few friendly cashiers are the only reason this isn't just 1 star, but I'm still not going back (except in a moment of forgetful weakeness). read more

I love this SafeyWay. I don't have to deal the craziness of downtown, or the pretentiousness of The Pearl, or the dinginess of Barbur. This place is conveniently right off the I-5, just down from Bridgeport Shopping Center..... & if I need to do some "specialty" shopping for something I can't find here (which isn't too often), I can just skip on down to Whole Foods. The peeps here are friendly, the store is very clean, & they really do have a pretty decent selection of goods. read more

Never seems to have the bread I want in stock, so I tend to have to go across the street to Walmart or down the road to Albertsons until I find it. No self-serve check-out, which is really the only reason I don't come here often. Where every other Safeway is to try to please the customer, twice I have been in this store and been treated incredibly rude by the management team. The prices are higher than the Aloha Safeway but location dictates. I go here for two reasons only, Dee the very sweet and thoughtful cashier and because I work close. The ppl in the bakery are rude and sloppy with their presentation of baked goods. Containers are not closed properly and freshness is wishful thinking. Produce is decent tho. There was an employee coughing on the avocados as she pulled the over ripe fruit this morning. So no avocados for me. Stock of what is in sale is always good. read more

I went to this Safeway this morning to pick up a couple things to take hiking. I had a bag of popcorn and box of granola bars. It was about 8 am. No cashier at any checkout aisle. So I went to the self check out. There were three people checking out and the rest of the self checkout were closed. One of the people had to go to another self checkout because hers got stuck so I was waiting to check out behind her in self check out with no person anywhere. People are starting to line up and mill about. A guy with a plaid shirt (no name tag) came up to man a check out stand. I was commenting to the woman that had to change stations in the self checkout while I waited that it would seem like they should have all the self checkout stations open as why not...? The guy at the register then said there is another self checkout open. The woman who changed stations said 'no that one is frozen'. They guy continues to tell me there is a self checkout open and I reiterate what the woman says that it's frozen/can't be used. Then- he says really nasty and snippy: 'it's because I'm the only one here!!' (Um... Like that's my problem...?) then he says REALLY nasty to me: 'and it's ONLY groceries!' So that kind of ruined my morning for a bit. He was so rude and nasty and it felt like he wanted to pick a fight....? And also since it's Safeway I would think that groceries would be his main focus and he wouldn't be dissing on his employer's bread and butter...? Groceries are what you do, right?!?!??He was really rude. Mind boggling. read more

I was shopping with me friend and we happened to buy a few of the same 99 cent hand soap items and used the Safeway doubler coupon, that is free in stores and the cashier, who's a supervisor accused us of cheating the coupon deal because he said its "one per household." I told him we don't live together and I can show my ID for proof. He declined to see it and under his breath said "I know how the game is played" wtf dude! This Safeway store is right down the road from my work so I end up in here all the time. They are located right off of I5 making it a convienient stop when heading south for a football game or just on my way into work. The staff here is real nice, always willing to help find something or ring up a handfull of items at the customer service desk. The deli is always well stocked at lunch time and the servers move people through the line quickly and smoothly. The chineese food always looks and smells better than it tastes but that's okay, sometimes the smell and look is worth it:) As far as the rest of the general "grocery store" things, like almost everyother safeway out there, they have you covered. read more

My Christmas Day emergency shopping run (our planned dinner meat, bought elsewhere, spoiled earlier than the date indicated) proved that this store is great but doesn't quite perform right at checkout. However, we had very little wait time this trip, despite the store being very busy. Today they had the proper number of lines open, though a management call from one line went unanswered the whole time we were checking out. Was 11:20 on a Tuesday. All I wanted was deodorant. I was horrified to see how long the lines were. I left and decided to take my money somewhere else since this Safeway clearly does not have its priorities in order. Never have I seen such neglect towards customers. I personally found Safeway fine. There groceries were great. There prices were low. After stopping by Starbucks and drinking a Venti ice water I had to use the restroom. I was right by the meat department going to the closest restroom available. I walked in and almost vomited. There was urine all over the floor my shoes were soaked. There was papertowels on the floor and no toilet paper. Just my luck. There was also no soap. The smell was worse then a portapotty on a hot day. There was drop offs left in the toilet and I will not be going the restroom here again. I mean really!?! read more
