*shakes fist* Fool me once, Safeway...
Yesterday, while in line at the Roosevelt Safeway, a woman in front of me couldn't find her club card or remember the right phone number, so I offered mine up. Jokingly, I said, "But I'm stealing all your points!" When she left, the checker informed me I'd gotten a gas discount from her purchase. (Is that legal? Or fair? Sure!)
"So now you have 30 cents total off each gallon!" he said, clearly impressed by my random act of kindness. "But make sure you use it soon, because it expires on the 30th!"
As luck would have it, my little Ford Focus was on E, so I made a trek to Ballard this afternoon to the new Safeway Fuel for a cheap tank of gas. Except I came to realize (once it was too late, of course) that I was only credited a measly 3-cent discount.
Oh well, I thought, maybe he really told me I had a 3-cent and I heard him wrong. Except when I went into the little convenience store to buy a Fizzy Lifting Drink, another guy was complaining of the same problem. The woman said something vague about computer problems...
Bah. It was still cheaper than other places nearby. I'll just have to go on a road trip this weekend so I can fill 'er up again by the 30th. This time I will DEMAND my rightfully earned (sort of) points! read more
