Love my neighborhood Safeway! Awesome selection (even if a LITTLE overpriced sometimes), and friendly staff. Puts Foodland to shame!

My kids love coming here with me to do grocery shopping cause of the little cars that are connected to the carts. The store is pretty huge. You can do your banking here if you have Bank of Hawaii. You can also pick up a cup of coffee at Starbucks, though I don't suggest it cause they always mess up my order for a simple Americano (too watery every time). Best bet to go across the lot to the other Starbucks. It's always cold here so bring a sweater. If you're like me and get cold easily, you are mos def gonna need it! Prices are reasonable, selection is good. I come here more often than I do foodland cause it is cheaper. read more

OMG this Safeway is definitely striving to impress. They went all out for this Grand Opening. Aside from the giveaways, food tastings, and grocery savings, they brought out the big guns. What impressed me most was strangely their display of real whole fish. I dunno what it was but it was real and it was for purchase. The big baller in the fish section behind the counter was on sale for 400$! My favorite section was the organic produce section. Wholly cannoli!!!! It was huge and esthetically pleasing. The plethora of choices was clearly visible and not terribly expensive. All fruits and vegetables looked neat, concise, and fresh! Every section had a food sample. It was like costco but tastier. There must have been at least 15 food sample stations. Along with corresponding coupons for free or hugely discounted food items, deals were abundant. Every 5 minutes or so, a bag of groceries was given away to whoever was paying at the check stand. It was definitely crowded today, so I bet it's going to be worse this weekend. Snag a car as soon as park in the parking lot, because they're gone by the time you get to the entrance. Their deli section also boasts some cool new stuff. A whole Asian buffet section! It's like a Panda Express only not as tasty, but definitely more wallet-friendly. For 10.99 with club card, you get two boxes of different entrees, a box of fried noodles, and box of fried/white rice, and a choice of two egg rolls or four pot stickers. What a deal! That fed my two kids, me, and my husband comfortably. It's not the best Chinese meal in town, but it sure is the cheapest. I live in Kapolei so Ewa Beach is just a hair too far away from when there's a Safeways in my own backyard, but man am I jealous not to have this one in my town. read more

I've always love shopping at Safeway, clean inviting but sometimes it may be expensive. I love coming here for the sale and my one and only favorite ice cream "its it" my all time favorite since I was little. I think Safeway is the only place that carries it. Located in the new(ish) Laulani Village shopping center! More on the right side by City Mill. This gas station is the CHEAPEST in Ewa Beach. The last time I went, it was $2.63 a gallon for regular. About 20 cents less than Tesoro, and that's paying with credit card not cash. Another reviewer here is complaining about the different prices for cash vs. credit. Personally, I don't feel like the gas station is "punishing" people who choose to pay credit card. I paid $2.63 a gallon with a credit card, and that still was WAY cheaper than anywhere else in Ewa. I see it more as them rewarding customers who do choose to pay with cash. The money they save on credit card processing fees allows them to pass the savings onto the consumer who chooses to pay with cash! They could easily just charge everyone the super cheap price of $2.63 a gallon (regardless of how you pay), or they can offer the already cheap price of $2.63 a gallon for credit and just pass on even more savings to the people paying with cash. I don't even pay with cash at gas stations, EVER, and I understand why they have different prices. I'm at least just grateful that I can even fill up my entire tank for $33, when at one point it cost almost $60 a few years ago. Great gas station! Never a line when I come here (hope it stays that way). read more

Bakery is on it. I ordered a cake a month in advance and they let me know with whipped icing the color fades which was fine with me. I ordered a simple pink cake and I didn't a lighter pink. I added my own decorations with their decorations and it was perfect in the end. I had to call a week before to add an extra filling and it did cost more and it was just perfect. Awesome customer service. Everywhere is pricey when you order a cake or else make your own lol. I ordered and i didn't mind the price. Overall my daughter enjoyed it and so did everyone else. I only order this specific cake and flavors from Safeway. No where else haha read more

WOW Safeway...just WOW. I understand the precautions everyone is taking with this COVID situation, however I cannot believe I was told that I would need to bag my groceries on the ground (first time this happened). By making your customers bag their groceries on the ground does not seem like you are truly looking out for the best interest of your customers. The ground is more filthy and it's not like you mop or spray it down as often as you do with your carts or counters. SMH. read more

One of the cleanest Safeway's I've been to. It's feels like it's extremely cold when you first enter, but that's also probably because Ewa Beach is so hot. Lots of parking stalls, easy to push carts, and friendly workers. I love using their Safeway app for deals! They also send you coupons, who doesn't like saving money? $5 Friday's are also great! You can check out what items are $5 on their app. My fave part is the large selection of organic and locally grown produce. Although their produce can be a bit pricey, from my experience, it's always fresh. Their desert section is my second favorite. They have such cute holiday cupcakes! You should definitely check it out if you're doing last minute potluck shopping. read more

I was so excited when I heard they were finally going to build a Safeway in Ewa!! I was so tired of going to Foodland with their awful parking lot and expensive prices. This store has yet to disappoint! Of course with it being new, it is extremely clean and organized. The employees seem fairly helpful and friendly. Their sales are usually pretty good! Some extras that make it a plus are the Bank of Hawaii branch, Starbucks, Coinstar, Redbox, and Western Union services available inside. Pretty convenient if you ask me. read more

I came here on a sure for a tres leches cake for my sons birthday. Didn't find it, but I did find something way cuter and it tasted good! A two tier bottom was chocolate with fresh strawberries and cream cheese frosting , top was yellow cake with the same fillings. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised! Reason for the four stars: their customer service needs some improvement. I spoke with a lady over the phone and explained to her what I wanted, she got my vision but she seemed annoyed the whole time. Overall: this was a way better experience than my first. I love you Safeway but yesterday, I came away with my half sheet cake order ($42.99) a bit disappointed with the decor. Per discussion with baker, the cake ordered was to be painted purple with white lettering. The white lettering was supposed to pop against the purple background. The borders was supposed to be silver/grey. What we got was a lilac ombré looking background with the same color borders. The white lettering blended into the background, making it different to read the words. Event was at a park with limited lighting. Upon cake pick-up, the counter was too busy & I needed to jet. Didn't have the time to address the erroneous order, hence, this yelp review. I would have given this a two star but good thing cake was ono (so moist). Will give it another try and order in the future. read more

Safeway - Honestly, this is ugly ‍ - Grocery Near Me - Ewa Beach, Hawaii

Grocery shopping. I dislike grocery shopping with a passion. I always tend to make a list for items and either misplace it or forget it at home. Anyways, I frequent this location since it's across the street from my house. $5 Friday's is the day to shop here. Deals are amazing and you can preview the deals via your Safeway app. Now, the reason behind my 3 stars. I recently lost my mother and wanted to use the floral department in this Safeway to purchase roses. I spoke with a woman at the floral desk and she advised me that the roses are delivered on Tuesday's. My mother's service was a Saturday so I asked if I can order a particular color and they hold the order until the night before the service. The woman said she could. I don't remember her name but she did mention that her mother works in the floral department as well (?) she also advised me that someone will call me to follow up with my specific order. I received no calls and no information about my 3 dozen roses I ordered. Luckily, they don't charge you until you pick up the flowers. No follow up and no sense of customer service. Another note, my experience with the deli. I stopped by and asked for a pound of cheese. The lady looked at me and walked away. Another lady came back and asked the woman behind me if she was ready to order and needed help. The original lady who asked ME if I needed help pointed to her coworker and told her to cut the cheese for me. However, this was the worker who was helping the other customers in line. So, I left and asked to speak with a manager. That's when I spoke with the store manager. Funny thing is, she looks familiar. Why? Well, I'm a huge Instagram user and their manager is the woman who always posts behind the scenes of Safeway. Sometimes in the walk in, running around the store, oh you know, doing unprofessional things. Check it out, she has no shame in tagging Safeway on her posts. Anyways, I come here because it's close to home. read more

i LOVE Safeway. I'm from Oregon and safeway is pretty much the only grocery store in the town i lived in so it's nice to have something familiar here. i Love the ewa safeway in particular. and Aimee who works in the bakery is always such a pleasure to work with. I experienced bad customer service from that lady name precious inside Safeway Starbucks.

This store is modern and big. There's always a good amount of parking and the store is always clean. They have a very nice deli and they have several ready made salads and individual food items that you can heat & eat, for example; meatballs, samosas, sliced turkey and more! They have a great produce department and they offer a variety of fruits and vegetables, including organic. The floral department is beautiful and you can find a variety of flowers and arrangements for all occasions. There is a Starbucks in store but remember that you can't use any of your Starbucks rewards at this location. They have a hot deli and sushi bar next to a decent sized eating area for your convenience. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The bakery department usually has a lot of baked goodies to satisfy your sweet tooth! And if you're a drinker they have a decent sized liquor department. This Safeway does not disappoint!! ~Aloha! read more

Safeway's bakery department is totally awesome-sauce! My son loves my garlic bread and I always make it with freshly baked French bread from Safeway. It's got that pillowy soft inside and it smells like heaven when still warm from the oven. I am also in love with their pumpkin pie which is earnestly one of my favorite on the island. Although Safeway overall is much pricier than a club store, it's still necessary to purchase all the goods you don't want to buy in bulk. The folks running the registers have always provided good customer service and when I've stopped by the lines aren't horrendously long. Minus one-star because the roasted chicken looks like the Costco chicken's anorexic cousin. They need to either get fatter chickens or not cook them so long. read more

People might think Safeway is expensive including my wife but weve shopped there for many years and my friends say it so expensive and I say you have to clip coupons on the phone app which makes it so much easier , also Safeway is not a place to stick up on food I call it a maintenance store where you go and buy for sale items and you make out especially with the gas rewards and they customise your coupons and you get money off gas you go to Don Quixote or woodland for all the other stuff but Safeway has fresh foods organic too so before not shopping download app for Safeway and you'll see its no more expensive as any other store as for me I love the cleanliness of the store and full shelves . read more

Safeway is the closest grocery store to me, so I frequent there quite often. Safeway is easily one of my favorite places to shop for groceries because of the clean appearance and food organization. Finding food is always a cinch. They have some amazing poke over at the seafood counter that I would highly recommend as well! Gas there is cheap when paired with your account number, however be prepared to wait at times due to a long line. The only thing I would wish they'd improve is the amount of cashiers open at a time. More often than not I go with the intention of buying a few things and being in and out, but they only have 2-3 cashiers open. This causes a longer than average line on the manned cashiers as well as the self check outs. Other than that though, I like going here and I see myself continue to buy groceries from Safeway for years to come. read more

Deli review- showed up at 8am and was prepared to order some breakfast burritos. 1st thing this lady said was sorry I only have one egg left. Really? You're a grocery store, go to aisle 1 and grab a dozen. I didn't say that but come on. I said ok, I will take one with egg and the rest without. I watched her make it and was not pleased. The picture shows the burrito loaded with scrambled eggs. What I saw was here cut up a precooked microwaved circular egg white, gross. Bacon was that cheap paper thin kind and the potatoes lacked their crispness. Not worth it, even though they are only $3 each. I don't plan on coming back here for breakfast any time soon. read more

I really like this establishment. It's one of the few places that actually has a machine to check your blood pressure at the pharmacy for those that likes to keep a tab on that. I have not been able to find one in Ewa until I went to this place. The surrounding pharmacies do not have it. The poke is amazing and the produce department is very organized and appealing. There are many places that surrounds this establishment: Buffalo Wild Wings, Teddy's bigger burger, City Mill...., it is definitely in a prime location to get multiple things done at once. My only issue with this place is that the cash registers usually only have three lanes open at the max, so the line gets super long and you're forced to go to self checkout which can take just as long or longer to check out at times. read more

This is my go to location everything is always organized and most of all I know where everything is so my shopping experience is always quick and fast. Tonight I had to write a review I had a very long week and decided to come in around 11:30pm to grab a couple last minute things needed for the house and I had such great customer service with the cashier Ruben he had a smile on his face for it to be so late in the night and me having such a long week it brightened up my night to see that he had a smile and such great customer service and it was a fast check out and nice to see someone can put a smile on knowing I was not having the greatest night, it was contagious and by the end of the check out I felt better and cracked a smile as well. I really enjoy this place. There is a lot of parking..a LOT. So there never really is the need to drive around a few times in search of a spot. One of the first things you'll notice when you step in is how COLD the place is. As hot as Ewa Beach gets, it almost feels like it's a Godsend :P The place is very tidy (everytime I'd come here, anyway) and the staff is willing to help you and even WALK you to where you need to go. I mention this because with a lot of places, you're supposed to do that, but a lot of places don't. They just tell you what isle and keep doing whatever it is that they're doing. They have a deli and a seafood place. They make great food. I really like getting Samosa's from here :D Their produce section is relatively big and everything looks fresh! Laahhhv eet! They're usually well stocked. I've only encountered one time that they did not have what I came for. It wasn't something super important so that's okay :P OH! They have a Starbucks in there. There's a Starbucks in the same shopping center area but nevermind that - they have a Starbucks IN Safeway. lol. Wonderrrfullll They have a little area where you can sit, eat, and chill. AND THERE'S WIFI. FREEEE WIFI! WOO! The only downside I have is how pricey this place can get :x I don't care! I'm coming back! lol read more

Evening shopping is nice, but, checking out seems to be a bit slow. There are about 10 check out stands, however, 2 cashiers working the stands. There is a 3rd watching the self-check out stands. It may be due to a shift change In which they lack people at the registers, but either way it takes customers an extra 15min to purchase groceries. Other than the check out, the store employees are friendly, the store temperature is cool and the presentation is always attractive. read more

The combination of this gas station and City Mills propane station is doomsday for any and all zombies should a zombie apocalypse occur. Hopefully Carol is nearby. Ok...in all seriousness, there's no fear if my low fuel light illuminates since it's an unpicked up dogs turd throw away. And yes, they're plentiful. The pumps are clean, convenience store stocked for hour long road trips, and pumpers pay similar prices found at Costco/Sams Club/military installation if using either cash or debit card. Just visited this Safeway. About 40% of shelves empty, and when you ask when products will be replenished, no one knows. And they wonder why we hoard? But really, now we have to bring in our grocery bags, and unless we buy another Safeway bag (guess they really need the money), they won't bag our food! New policy I was told! But I know how to select products I need to buy, bag them if I need to, and even self check-out - it's called AMAZON!!!!! The ultimate way to get even! read more

Two stars because it's new and has a good selection. Why it really deserves 1 or zero stars: FREEZING ASS FRIGID. What are we, in the arctic? I actually caught a cold, even wearing a jacket in there. Face, hands and feet are NUMB. If I desperately need something only this safeway carries, I run in, and get out. I don't go on weekends, or in the evenings. I go to the Kapolei one instead of this one when taking time to grocery shop. No one there cares that it's painfully cold there. My mom refuses to go in. Too bad, it's a nice store. But your health will suffer, especially if you have asthma like me. A few nice avocados aren't worth getting pneumonia or the flu over! THUMBS DOWN. read more

We love this store....it's by far the best supermarket around with fair deals throughout the store. You absolutely NEED a Safeway card to get the great pricing; otherwise....you're paying the high prices. They have an excellent bakery and offer great birthday cake deals, and the cake tastes great by the way. There is always fresh bread available, and there is usually some warm ones that just came out of the oven. The produce section is hands down the best in the area, and you'll always find what you're looking for. Yes, you can find cheaper vegies and fruit at other outlets nearby in our opinion, but Safeway offers so much more, and they have near perfect fruits and vegies to choose from. The alcohol section is the best...you won't find it cheaper anywhere else except maybe Longs (which does offer great prices). With the Safeway card, you'll always see good prices on Jack Daniels or other great spirits. read more

Can't believe I'm reviewing a grocery store but Safeway, with your glitzy, glamorous new store in Ewa Beach, I LOVE YOU! And your big SPACIOUS parking lot too! Went on official opening day and just walked up and down the isles familiarizing myself with your layout and just checking you out! Love the deli, fresh sandwich, soup kiosk, gorgeous produce section, but especially the fresh artisan bread section! Oooooh lalaaaaa! Had to laugh that there was so much selection of yummy breads, rolls and bagels, BUT, what was absolutely cleaned out? The donut, pastry and cupcake section! Two separate days, and just crumbs! Come on fellow Ewa Beach residents! Expand your horizons! Buy the fresh crusty breads imbedded with toasted garlic and such with the ever so soft fluffy middles. You'll NEVER go back to LOVES! The only negative criticism I had was I ran there for a few items on the night before Thanksgiving. I was preparing for our annual celebration and of course, as usual, always forget some kind of ingredient, necessary to complete my dinner. It was after 11pm and there were quite a few stragglers like me and the line at the checkout was ridiculous! Only two open!!! Helloooo! On the night before Thanksgiving? But in defense on Safeway's behalf, THANK YOU for being a 24 hour facility that I can drop in ANY TIME to do my shopping! Not your problem that I didn't plan properly. My bad! read more
