This must be the only grocery store in Estes because it is always packed, always a long check out line, and always hard to find parking. This trip was no different. I don't think they even try to keep shelves restocked during business orders. Shelves are chaotic. Prices are high. .We spend over $100 and hardly bought anything. I don't really like this store but absent alternatives we don't have much choice. I think that is what Safeway is counting on. read more

Well first of all, it's a bit over priced and SUPERRR busy. Although I loved the fact they had sushi the people in there had no spacial awareness at all. I could stand in the behind somebody saying "excuse me" and they still won't move. Most of the workers seemed nice but some of them feel unapproachable. They had everything I needed. I was happy to find everything I needed. I had to ask for help with one of the items I needed but the gentleman helped me get what I needed. When I got everything I needed - I went into a quick "do it yourself" checkout line and I did a very good job with everything I needed. Most of the things I needed fit into my fanny pack. I love this Safeway! I always come here at least 1-2 times each time I visit Estes park and find exactly what I'm looking for. During my most recent visit, I bought some amazing water here in glass bottles to avoid micro plastics. I had the best flavored sparkling water from Canada that knocked La Croix out of the park. I love that the isles are named after cute places in Estes park like "fall creek road"...adorable! The cashiers are always helpful and friendly and the store is always kept clean. read more

Pretty average store but seems very popular with tourists like us . We stopped mutiple times during our trip to pick up some supplie and mostly found everything with a few exceptions in every visit . The store just felt messy and unkempt,could be the high foot traffic. The lines ran really long and it took forever to get billed .They have a starbucks and pharmacy inside as well. read more

This is the only grocery store in the area and it was packed every time we went there. Yes we are tourists and needed to buy some things for our week stay in a VRBO. Because it's tourist heavy, anytime you shop during the day, no matter what day, its crowded. Husband searched high and low for a cold coke but only Pepsi was available. Produce was ok. Most items were available on the shelves. We shopped late on a Sunday night when we first arrived and that was, by far, the least busy time. read more

We came to stop here at Safeway while in Estes Park for a few days. No - we really didn't need anything from here, except for some Palisade Peaches. Also, we thought they might have sold one of my favorite oatmeal brands, but I then realized that the company went out of business. Welp. With that said, this Safeway seems to be serving the tourist town of Estes Park. This spot seems apt for those staying in cabins or anywhere with a kitchen (i.e. the Residences). We weren't around long enough for that. I'm sure people will stock up food to picnic in Rocky Mountain National Park. That seems like the smartest idea. I didn't see much of an issue with stock. I didn't look for specific foods, but I think this place is alright, I guess. I'm sure that stock may get tight during the summer season, so be mindful of that. read more

the staff are rude and unhelpful I understand there are a lot of tourists in town, but having an item on sale and intentionally saying "we have bad Internet" so that their app can be used when clearly they could be helpful. Our barista was not focused on the drinks he was making. He forgot the espresso in mine , when I went back he said he was confused. Asked for light ice, got about 8 or 10 little cubes so my whole drink was pretty much the oat milk and brown sugar. Ended up tossing it. The gal behind me ordered something with no sugar and he put sugar in it. He was pleasant but absent. Oh well. I don't live here. Would not go back. read more

This Safeway is convenient for living in Estes park. The only down fall is the summer months. Lord this place gets bought out like crazy. I've never seen so many bare shelves that didn't involve a natural disaster lol. Hey they run w it though and try their best to keep it stocked. Been doing business here for 10 years. I had some horseradish sauce I bought at this store that was full of black mold . I brought it back and tgey wanted tge receipt? 2 bucks item. I've shopped at this store every week for going on 8 years. It's bad. Super high prices. Very poor produce. Don't even buy the flowers. There is never enough help and so they are just run ragged. In the busy months they don't keep the shelves stocked and it's always the expensive items that remain. I've just recently decided that it's worth driving down to Loveland one a week. Visited Safeway on our way up to RMNP. Needed to pop in to grab some gloves and some snacks before we took off. Every time I have been in, the store has been clean. The staff has been helpful. A lot of the products have been in stock. I did feel badly coming in however since when i popped in it was mostly elderly people (it was around 9:30 am on a friday). If i could i would have opted to skip the store altogether. I know many of the senior generation are worried about covid. The safeway up here is definitely not like the one in Foco with lots of people of varied ages. I usually bring my own snacks etc and opt to not go into the stores in estes right now. However i lost one of my gloves and really needed something for hiking that day. I found what I needed and then some ;) This is a great little store. If you are not local though, please do keep in mind that a lot of elderly folks are shopping here and decide if what you need is really important enough to go in right now. read more

This Safeway location is the only large grocery store in Estes Park. During our eight day stay, we visited at least eight times. Seems like not matter how well you plan a family cabin stay, there's always something else you need. As a result, we got to know this store quite well. First impression was things were fairly easy to find. We were planning to make sandwiches for hikes and I was pleased to find a nice selection of bakery breads. Beer selection was decent was well, though we found more of what we were looking for at the liquor store. I tried a local stout i found here and enjoyed it. For an easy meal for kiddos, we picked up some fried chicken that was reasonably priced and freshly cooked. Self-check is available, though half the stations were not operable for COVID-19 social distancing reasons. And the one time we went through the standard checkout line, the checkout person was notably slow. But, workers were friendly and helpful overall. Generally positive experience at the "one grocery store in town". If you are staying here and cooking in a cabin kitchen, recommend Safeway for all your grocery needs! read more

Terrible and Awful! Unfortunately this store is the only full grocery in Estes. They are NOT prepared to service the locals let alone the tourists. Empty shelves, understaffed, you'll be in checkout or self check out FOREVER. Today I was in line for 20 minutes to get 6 things. As I stood there, I noticed the donuts were 10 days old. Even tho I put in my member #, I didn't get the sale price on water. When I stopped at Customer Service to get my refund - it was closed! Safeway isn't my favorite place to shop most days, but this one in particular is a positive experience for me. I am very thankful we even have grocery stores like Safeway, because I acknowledge that not everyone has access to basic necessities. Again, we are thankful. I visited this location to pick up some well deserved Spam, in hopes of mashing them with some Norii Paper Seaweed and white rice. We also picked up some whole milk and Vienna Sausage. It was fairly windy that weekend in Estes Park, but we enjoyed the ambience of the store. It was busy. We have such an idea of what a positive shopping experience looks like, and I'd say Safeway delivered. read more

I like to joke that this is the most beautiful Safeway ever - you cannot beat the parking lot views! Most of us do not go to grocers for the views, but it certainly helps elevate the experience (see what I did there?). Like many others note, the store is always quite busy as it serves the local EP community as the main grocery store in town as well as all of the tourists coming in to stock up on picnic or condo supplies - both important and valid! I think the store does a good job of keeping up with demand and working with the limited space they have. Folks are friendly as well! read more

perhaps some people got fired, I don't know but I can say that it seems like all the staff are grumpy and grouchy and slamming things around. From the big assistant manager on down. I personally don't like negative juju attached to my food so will be sure to give extra blessings to my purchases today before I put them in the cupboard and fridge. Such a shame to have those kind of poor attitude and such a beautiful part of the world. While my bro-in-law, father and I were in Estes Park, we stopped by this Safeway a couple times to pick up groceries for a 3 day vacation. This Safeway has a lot of variety and is basically a one-stop shop for all your grocery needs. We wanted to have one dinner in our VRBO-rented house and we got all of our items, and then some, at Safeway. We got 3 huge T-Bone steaks for less than $30. It was a smokin' deal. I will definitely stop by Safeway for all my grocery needs when I'm in Estes again. read more

Avoid if you can. Horribly understaffed. Lines looked 20 minutes long. Reason from staff: it's like this every summer. You cannot purchase OTC pharmacy items at the pharmacy. Unpleasant shopping experience so shop before you come to town and use the pharmacy next door where they are helpful and fully staffed. read more

A big modern supermarket with everything you might want, at least in theory. Unfortunately, 3:00 Tuesday afternoon was a bad time to shop. No Cheerios (?), no Chobani yogurt, no 1% milk. I didn't know breakfast items were so popular. We asked if these items were in the stockroom (no). On the bright side, the checker was friendly and gave us a Safeway card which saved $10 on those store-brand Cheerios. There was a large deli with a good selection. read more

I am not one to complain.. but I got a few balloons today and I was told it would cost $1 a balloon to full up and $10 to fill up one balloon (foil). I was really disappointed. Then the lady told me she didn't know if it would work to fill up the balloons in the altitude. Which was very confusing because how would you not know if it would work by this point... she works in the floral/balloon department. Very disappointed.. again sorry to complain. The store is constantly running out of items, especially sale items in produce. If you ask someone they are sometimes they are able to go back and find it in the stockroom. I am a local of 20 years and I have not seen anything like the long lines this summer. The staff is very nice considering what a Zoo the store is. I've tried Self-checkout and I always need assistance, so it's not worth the hassle for me. There must be something Safeway can do to get more staff. Visitors are always saying they've never seen lines this long anywhere else. Please fix this problem. It makes our town look bad. read more

Has most of what you need but lacks quantity in the fresh vegetable department. Lots of juice, basic cheese, fruit. Deli is on the small side with meats. Sells wine, and there is a liquor store in the same shopping center for harder stuff. It's always crowded and lines are long. Seems to cater to the tourist crowd who are cooking in cabins and on grills. Okay if you are staying for a week. It does have the most beautiful view from the parking lot. read more

Safeway really, really, really needs to get more employees. There are only about two check-out lines, despite there being many unused check-out counters. Generally, it takes about an hour from the time you join the check-out line before it's your turn. Sometimes I've walked out without buying anything because the check-out line was snaking through the aisles. It's really a problem. read more
