Had a pretty standard trip to Safeway. The store was clean and organized, and I was able to find everything I needed without any issues. The staff was polite, and checkout was quick. I shop here every week and spend about 300 plus dollars for me and my wife, for a store that is 33% more expensive than Winco it's the worst ever. Always one maybe two checkers and a like a mile long. It's getting to the point where I will be shopping at Winco because they use their check stands at least read more

Most of the staff here are great, most. I place my groceries, like produce first, cold and freezer stuff together, meats and then miscellaneous stuff. I bring my own bags and generally tell them why I am putting like items together. I have had one checker actually notice and asked me before I said a word (saw her once and never again) most others simply ignore my request. But what drives me crazy is the poor produce, shelves not being kept stocked and items one has bought here for months, maybe years are not stock. Now when I say stocked and bought here for years these are items when they are here fly off the shelves. I have also had bad experiences with meat going bad before the expiration date. The 'deli' people are the worst, I don't even bother to ask for anything there anymore. read more

Serious decline in service and management. You would thi.k that you're going into a downtown major city Safeway, not a small town. The quality of the meat is debatable and inconsistent. when I asked the butcher why there were so many feathers on the skin of the chicken thighs from" Safeway signatures" he replied,"I don't know, I don't work there, but yeah, that's really gross." The floors are usually gross, they are constantly running out of stock, the pharmacy requires 2-3 trips to pick up prescriptions, and to be candid, they don't seem to care anymore. In a town with three grocery stores, we go there last. Take some pride in your store and turn it around... or keep sliding downhill. Regardless, at this point you're kind of an embarrassment. read more

This is the perfect store for anyone looking for checkers that hate their jobs. it's amazing how many of these employees show absolutely no regard for their customers. there are a few that are great checkers however, they're the minority. read more

This is my sandwich after waiting 30 minutes, a deli worker was making 4 sandwiches for me, and this is how one of them turned out. Completely burnt and sold me this. Not acceptable and a complete waste of time and money. She had no idea what she was doing making any of the sandwiches and was one of two workers in the deli. read more

We stopped in off of I5 on our way up to Seattle for some road snacks and I was pretty depressed by: 1) The lack of cleanliness compared to the Safeway stores near me in Northern CA. 2) The attitude of the staff (somewhere between disinterested and angry). 3) The clientele. I know this isn't directly a Safeway problem, but damn. Meh. read more

This is my favorite Safeway, the managers and checkers are pretty much all nice and have always sorted out any issues I've had with my card or bottle returns. Sometimes the lines are long but most of the time it's not an issue for me. I love to get meat from the deli as well! read more

I *love* our Safeway store! In my two decades of experience shopping locally, I've found the fresh produce, meats and milk to be much fresher than Walmart and I'm happy to pay a bit more for that freshness. I enjoy shopping at Grocery Outlet but the "bargain market" often doesn't have what I'm looking for and Safeway does. I *love* the Bakery's cakes that are designed to my exact specification and taste delicious. I *love* the Floral Department. Flowers are much fresher and last longer than Walmart's. I *love* the Safeway employees who serve me. I have found them to be quite friendly when I need help. The produce guy is a sweetheart. The customer service staff (Susan & Rock) are very helpful. As I get older, I appreciate the help carrying out my groceries and loading them into my car. I especially *love* how Safeway generously supports Cottage Grove's local nonprofit organization! I haven't noticed any cleanliness issues in the store. Every once in a while I have to use the bathroom and it's always been clean and well-stocked. I'm a fan and rate the store at a four (instead of a five) for three reasons that are related to the inconvenient experiences I occasionally have. 1. I love the pharmacy employees but they are sometimes backed up and slow to fill prescriptions. 2. At peak times the checkout lines are much too long. 3. One of the deli workers told me after I bought some Chinese food to take my food and the couple of items I had in my basket to the checkout line, which were long at the time. My good experiences at Safeway are waaay more than any unpleasant ones I've had. read more

Never get a money order from Safeway. They will not cash them and no one will touch them unless you have a local bank to deposit it to. the cashiers will give you snide looks and attitude. Terrible!!!!!!!!!! read more

This store is just like most Safeway's except the lines are much longer at all times in the afternoon. Do not go to this store for a quick shopping trip as there is nothing quick about it. Apparently Safeway likes to provide poor service at premium prices. I have never been to a Safeway with such over filled lines of customers waiting to get their food paid for. Today I went to the deli. I had a gallon of milk in my hand, one item. I was looking at egg rolls as I wanted one. I got abruptly told by the deli worker that non deli customers had to go to the check out lines. The problem was I was a deli customer. Things like this make what could be a good store sub par. read more

I like the Safeway in Cottage Grove there good people. Very helpful. One night I was working out at anytime fitness and my blood sugar ran low and the cashier, can't remember his name bought me orange juice because my card wasn't working. Clean store with great employees. Tonight everything looked Great. read more

I really, really do not like this grocery store. It's always crowded, the selection is incredibly sparse on necessities (ie bread, milk, etc) and many of the staff, while friendly enough, just have no idea of their merchandise. Until recently it was the only show in town major grocery wise. Now there is an extended wal*mart (not a super walmart) but it has the same problems so, meh. Blerg read more

This Safeway sucks. They need to be taught how to put cashiers in check stands and how to get people out quickly. If this Safeway wasn't the worst. Maybe they wouldn't have upgraded the Wal-Mart. And everyone who works there looks like they could be casted for the next Hobbit movie. read more

Somebody in the store put a very large amount on my debit card. Store manager said they would look into it and I didn't hear from him for over a week this issue is still not not resolved. They have not sent me my money back . Nothing is happening on this issue. Please be very very careful in this store as it is not safe. read more

This Safeway is a nice one. Have everything you need. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the lines get long at rush hours. Need more lanes open for check out at times like that. read more

This Safeway has had NO HEAT since 9/01/14 they say they will fix the furnace next spring, the employees have to wear long johns at work, they have zero respect for their customers. read more

The bad reviews of this place are unwarranted. Save for the gas station related reviews. The gas station is is chronically understaffed. I've always gotten good service. Also prices are good if you shop the sales. I choose to shop here over many other places. read more
