Idk why this Safeway has low ratings, but it gets a 5 in my book! The store is clean and everything is clearly labeled so you can navigate your way easily as you shop. My sister and I checked out and the 2 gentleman were very friendly and the one at the end bagged up our things and put them in the cart for us. Be sure to download the app for extra savings on hundreds of items throughout the store. On our way out, as we walked by the customer service desk, I spied with my little eyes, this huge turquoise stuffed animal just chillin' on the ledge. I said, "I want that!!" My sister laughed at me as I picked it up and wondered how much it was. I guessed $60 but there was an employee nearby and my sister asked her how much it was. She said, "$15!" My eyes about popped out of their sockets!! Whaaaat?! So I take Mr. Dino around the corner to the register and prepare to pay for him. The other employee, Angelica, processed my purchase and at first, I saw $49.99 on the register. I was about to leave the dino behind but then she said, "if you put your phone number in, it's cheaper, I think it's in sale." Enter my number I did and BOOM!!! The magical price of $12.50 popped up on the screen, so you better believe I busted out my card and secured that transaction faster than a fat kid stealing candy at a candy store!!! LMAO!!! It was a glorious visit, and my sister and I laughed our asses off as we left the store! Oh, and also, tbis store has the viral lemon ice creams!! Say whaaaat?! I was too lazy to look for other flavors, but the lemon ones are front and center at the end cap, on sale for $10.99 for a 3-pack!! I would have grabbed 2 packs but my sister's freezer has no room! *cry* This Safeway gets a 2 thumbs up and 5 stars from me!! read more

This store has definitely hit a new low! Besides the prices and having to get refunds thru customer service since the checkers won't make the correction. Last night the person bagging the groceries was eating greasy fried chicken, I mentioned it and the checker commented twice that it wasn't right to be eating. I called the store when I got home and the manager didn't seem that concerned. She mentioned she would talk to the person. EATING AND TOUCHING MY FOOD IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! read more

I need to report following many times needing to report after grocery shopping being over charged on items. I get one story from the cashier and Customer Service gives me a different story. I believe it is a result of poor management. I do get the money back but it is a nuisance. I have never had an issue like this one so often at another grocery store. I live in the Anthem neighborhood in Florence, just off of Hunt Hwy. There is a Safeway just at the entrance to my neighborhood, which is absolutely awesome! Great food, great prices and the store is immaculate and well stocked, not to mention clean beyond belief. Imagine my surprise when I went into this location in Coolidge just 6 miles away. I figured it's a Safeway, so it's got to be comparable to the one I love just a few miles over. Sure, if the one I love was moved to Iraq, bombed, set on fire, doused in a flood and then run had to deal with the consequences of slapping Chuck Norris. I mean this place was so dirty, and poorly stocked it was unbelievable. There were expired cartons of milk in the dairy cases. Meat in the meat department had clearly been left out too long, and in general the overall appearance of the place was lacking any sense of cleanliness or order. The only thing this location has going for it is their bakery. What is management doing here that they could let their store look like this? read more

Last night I came in late, they were closing early...and asked the manager and a worker where the gelatin was. They directed me to jello...I needed plain powdered gelatin... I asked a second time and this stupid manager turned his back... STUPID PEOPLE!!! read more

They are always out of stock or SO MANY ITEMS. Went to pick up my groceries and they forgot over $59 worth of my items. All my Produce and meat missing. Will take another 3-5 days to process refund and won't be able to feed my family tonight. read more

Why is the product you get here always expired....opened my cheese moldy and past expiration, milk expired and went and grabbed some tortillas someone cut through the bag with box cutters my tortillas were dried out, glad I came to Safeway ‍ You guys need to rotate, and if you can't be the kind of manager to follow up on your teams work what do you even do there? I have no choice but to come to this Safeway it's the only close enough to my house besides Walmart. Today was my second experience with Veronica. I walked up to her reprimanding another employee with her nasty attitude that I have experienced before. Her attitude still continued with me. I handed her cash and after she counted I said was that $33 and she said I don't know what did you get? She then counted again and I believe it was over by $2 but she said it was $33 then avoided giving me my receipt. It was 12:44 on 2/22 so you can check the cameras. If she would do that to me for a couple of dollars who else has she done it to? With the exception of a few people the staff and management here are not nice or helpful. read more

I pass through Coolidge often on my way to visit family in Queen Creek. I have stopped in at this Safeway a few times to purchase a few items. I was at the store early this morning and while there I used the restroom. Two of the four stalls were marked as out of order and the other two should have been as well. There was not a piece of toilet paper in either of the two remaining stalls. I'm wondering what the employees do if they should have to use the restroom? This store is so filthy it isn't funny. read more

The past few times we've been have always been at least decent interactions with the staff but today was by far the worse. The cashier today when we erected checking out, Amanda I believe was extremely rude and very inconsiderate. When trying to ask a question about the safe way card and how we enter a number she ignored us and spoke to who we assume is her bf. She seemed like she was bothered to even have us come to her register like we were supposed to go else where. The managers were also very rude. Robin and Rachel were their names. Asked for corporates number and they refused to give it. Never had issues this bad and very disappointed by the way they handled the situation read more

Went to Safeway and I had a very unpleasant experience. I was walking towards the bread section and walked past the deli, I was just walking by and one of the female workers said "I'll be right with you" and I said "I'm just looking thank you" but I'm guessing she didn't hear me because as I kept walking she said to a female coworker "Ugh! I HATE IT WHEN THEY DO THAT" umm excuse? Sorry i was just looking...geez! To me that was very rude. I am not a confrontational person at all, but to me as a paying customer, I did not like this type of attitude. Maybe complain about customers quietly where they can't clearly hear you! And just because of this I would never get anything from the deli ever again. read more

I just moved into Coolidge area, and found my favorite new grocery store. Zandra was terrific. I believe she is a manager or supervisor. She had others assist me to find everything I couldn't locate, and she was very patient with me as I'm a fairly frugal shopper, when she rang me up. PARTY AT SAFEWAY!!!! I usually only hit up Safeway for an iced, non-fat, 1/2 caff white chocolate mocha, but they had a grand re-opening, so we checked it out. T'was awesome! They had little food counters set up where you could sample tons of their products (Safeway's O Organic Blueberry Juice? To die for!) Everyone was super friendly. I won a $25 gift card at the register, which completely sold me. Their produce was WAY better than anywhere else around these parts. -1 star for their prices. If you get it on sale, it's usually a great deal, but regular prices are noticeably higher than other grocery stores. read more

weve been shopping Coolidge, az safeway for about 25 years. Moved to Florence, az in 1994. Love it in Florence.. But very unhappy with your Coolidge store. It needs improvement. #1 Bathrooms are disgusting. Locks on individual doors don't lock, No Tp, on several days, been there. bathroom needs remodeled so very bad. never clean enough , for me and people that I know go there. were glad this store is here, but, it needs some major help. the people that work there are very friendly and helpful. staff at registers, is not very good. only one at register, the day I was there. and no one at service desk. I know this is old store. I remember when it was built. Its so sad to see a major store , like Safeway, to be so rundown, for so long. Lets get this store all cleaned up, Bathrooms are very important in any grocery store. Since we live here in Coolidge, we are glad to have this grocery store, but we we would really like to see improvement in several areas. First, many products are out of code. Yogurts and other dairy items are often a few days to over a week beyond code date. In addition, the bakery bread bins are almost always empty. Finally, I am so tired of rarely being thanked for spending my money at this store. Please train the cashiers to say a genuine "thank you" rather than "have a nice day" or nothing at all. read more

I had the displeasure of visiting this Safeway and having the cops called. It was early morning and the Casa Grande national monument was not yet open (it opens at 9). So I decided to get a few things from Safeway for breakfast and hang out in the parking lot until the monument opened. After finishing breakfast I still had a bit of time so I just stayed for a bit. Shortly after, the police show up and say they've been called because of strange noises from my vehicle and that the management wanted my vehicle removed from the parking lot. I was a paying customer less than an hour before that. If management is reading this, I would like an apology. read more

This Safeway store is all class. Extremely clean with friendly, helpful employees. A customer is always asked if they can help find them something. Additionally, this store has gobs of "specialty" food products, something I require of my grocery store. There's a very good bakery and a small eating area in the coffee shop section (Starbucks). The slightly higher prices can be offset with a Safeway Discount Card. Be sure to ask for a Safeway Discount Card...you will save significantly every time you shop there and accumulate points for discount on your Safeway gas. I have recently received a 30-cent per gallon discount on my gas.This is a great store. read more

We've been shopping this particular Safeway for a little over a year. The prices are very good in the Meat Department, and throughout the store. The produce is very fresh and rotated, the department is always appealing to shop. We pass other stores on the way to this one. And, we all work at a competitor...we prefer this store. The management is always approachable and visible, the employees are pleasant. Just all in all a win!! read more

The grocery part I would give actually give 3 1/2 stars for. For the most part the store is clean. The primary complaint would be stock/inventory issues. For example, recently Coke products were on sale 4/$10.00 and as par for the course they were out. Another time during the summer I asked for an item and was told I should get there earlier in day. Well if someone works, that is not really possible now is it? Also I had run in just to attempt to purchase some fresh Rosemary. I grabbed a pack and looked at the expiration date and it was 2 weeks prior. Grabbed another and a week out of date. Asked one of the employees that happened to be behind me cleaning up a spill if he could check if they had any in back and they didn't. When are they getting more in? No idea I was told. But on to why the negatives. This is primarily for the Pharmacy. I called to inquire if they had one of my medications I needed filled in stock. It is not a common med so it is not often in stock in most places. They did so I was was all woohoo... maybe I will transfer ALL my scripts here as they are numerous and they seemed to be easier and not as long to wait as other outlets in the area. I have another medication I needed filled but have an issue with a lot of the manufacturers versions so I asked who the company was that they used. I was told they used Company A but they were on back order so they had Company B. Having never used Company B, I accepted the "given" explanation and tried them. Wait time about an hour... no big deal I will do my shopping and come back. Well upon picking up my order and paying, I overheard the Pharmacist "counseling" the assistant about a fill she had to verify. She told her not to fill the prescription for this medication... the exact SAME medication I called about earlier with Company A. The SAME company I was told they were out of and on back order... and to instead fill with Company B. Wait.... I thought you told me you didn't have any and now there is one that is filled and told her not to change it but for future reference? I don't appreciate being flat out LIED to. I don't know why you are holding back Company A other than you might be able to get more money from a cash customer vs insurance which I was. Either way it is VERY bad form to lie to someone and it is NOT appreciated at all. It is for the above reasons that I will NEVER use this store again and drive the few extra miles to the one in Florence about 7 or 8 miles away that is bigger, cleaner, newer and more well stocked. This is an okay place if you need one of your "basics" (bread, milk, etc) but I would not recommend full on stock your cupboards type shopping at this location. read more

This store is very nice and clean, with fresh produce and good selections. Our only beef with Safeway is their high prices (except for sale items) and are almost always under-staffed at the cash registers. Today only one register was staffed and the person in front of us had a full cart. No self-checkout lanes here. read more
