I always dread renewing my ACLS every 2 years, it's such a gruesome experience with megacodes, EKG…read morereadings, etc. I usually get my renewal through work but this year I decided to try something different. I wanted to try a renewal outside of work with the hopes that it is less stressful. I came across this place through my Yelp search based on the high ratings. When I went to the website, the option to renewal was online portion + skills assessment. I was worried about the skills assessment. I purchased it and scheduled my skills assessment. The online portion is something I have done in the past with my other renewals which really helps prep you with the algorithms and lots of feedback. The online portion is nice because you work at your own pace, on your own time. You must completed the online portion in order to do the skills assessment in person. Before my skills assessment, I received very helpful e-mails to help me pass my skills assessment. They had some videos and helpful tips in the e-mail. When I arrived to the location at San Ramon, I was a little confused as I easily missed the door and was very lost. I called the phone number and they were very helpful in guiding me on where to go. There is NO instructor there, it's just a manikin hooked up to the computer that assesses the skill. I thought the videos helped me pass the skills assessment. I did have to re-do some sections a couple times but the feedback from the computer helped me and I think the e-mail tips clicked after doing the skills assessment. Overall, the skills assessment was definitely less stressful than I expected. It wasn't that bad. I definitely plan to return to do my BLS + ACLS renewal here, it's very chill and at your own pace! I love it. This really eases my anxiety regarding renewal, I would highly recommend for anyone that wants to renew! Everything is at your own pace. You do only have an hour to do the skills assessment, which I felt was PLENTY of time! The skills assessment focuses mainly on the breaths/compressions of CPR and 2:1 teamwork.

I went to the Castro Valley location, the same location I have used since last year. I love that this location has its own little parking lot in the back and you just follow the instructions which are emailed to you in order to access the office where you will do your skills testing. Not that this is a dealbreaker, but just be aware there is no restroom at this location. Last year I recall there used to be, but they have now locked the adjoining door so you cannot access the restroom if you need to go. The other thing was it doesn't seem that the cart the mannequin is on is able to be moved; or maybe I just couldn't move it? I went in the morning hours and the sun was shining right in my eyes. Just be forewarned if you decide to go to the Castro Valley location - - use the bathroom first and you may want to bring some sunglasses just in case LOL

The school is overall very affordable and they accept installment plans as well. No need to take out loans I'll regret later. The Program Director Ashish.. is very flexible. On one occasion I got sick for a few days and on another I had to fly out of state for a funeral and he made arrangements for me to make up my clinicals at other hospitals during the week. My instructor; Ms. Beth, was like a friend, sister, and Mother to me and very patient. I would text her in the evenings with school book questions and she'd promptly respond that evening versus waiting till the next school day. I have ADHD and a lot of my questions may come off as dumb or redundant, but she never made me feel any less. This is a career change for me and the best part was... before school even ended, she told me the hospital we were doing our clinical rotations at would hire me.... and that's exactly what happened. They offered me a job before I even graduated! I'll be also taking my AED, BLS, & CPR Certifications there as well. You can't go wrong here! Thank you!

If you want to get started in the fitness industry, NPTI Dublin will be the best money you ever…read morespend. Turns out that Mark Bransky (instructor) is the chief educational director for all NPTI in California. He is, by leaps and bounds, the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life. The course is expensive, (about 7k) but, if you truly want to learn and understand the fundamentals of fitness, nutrition, exercise, bioenergetics, etc then NPTI is the way to go. The book by itself can be daunting, but Mark breaks it down into analogies and gives examples that anyone can understand. Not only do you learn about these things, but you learn the rationale and science behind them. 250 hours are spent in the classroom and the other 250 are spent in the gym. Each week there is a quiz on the previous week's lectures. Also, everyday in the gym, you will put into practical use what you have learned in the classroom. Mark is there to give pointers, correct form, introduce us to new training methods, and to coach. On Thursdays, students with develop mental issues come and exercise with us. We build training sessions with the knowledge we have learned. It's definitely the highlight of their week and the students form strong bonds with us trainers. (shout out Matthew) Every student will eventually burnout at some point during the semester, but Mark keeps it light and entertaining. He is one of the funniest people i have met. We encouraged him to do stand up comedy in the future. I usually think of myself as generally intelligent, but the depth of his knowledge is unmatched. I got hired at Equinox as a trainer after going through the course. I believe that NPTI has prepared me to become the best trainer possible. Just because I have graduated does not mean that my journey with NPTI and Mark is over. He generously lends his time to all my questions that I text him and lends his advice whenever I ask him. I plan to take the CES course with him in December. Overall, it's the best money/decision I have ever made in regards to education and furthering my career. I truly don't have a negative thing to say about the class or the teacher. If you're serious about learning and understanding more about fitness, I highly recommend and endorse NPTI Dublin. I would not have gotten as much knowledge, pleasure, and entertainment if it wasn't for Mark.

NPTI is the only 'hands on' personal training school around and is undoubtedly the best because of this. After learning the theory in the classroom you head into the gym to put your new knowledge into practice. Where else offers that?!? The instructor Chris is very knowledgeable and super fun.
