My biggest advice is to educate yourself on what your insurance truly covers before you go. The doctor was good, but the billing process was concerning. Despite having a high-premium insurance plan--where my out-of-pocket cost for new glasses is usually very low--they attempted to increase my payment by adding unnecessary copays and adjusting tier levels to make me pay more. When I contacted my insurance representative to clarify, the office rep did not want to speak with my insurance and went on to inform me that they had actually stopped accepting my insurance, i guess a minute after I got my insurance rep on the line lol! Overall, my experience here raised red flags regarding billing transparency.

Out of all the businesses I have ever been to, Dr Joseph and his staff provide the single best customer service experience i have ever had. I am not comparing him to another optometrist, I truly mean any business. Dr Joseph is incredibly kind and helpful. While performing my eye exam, every question/concern I had (which was several) was happily answered and explained in a way that I could easily understand. I never felt like he was rushing to end my appointment. He kept making adjustments until i had the best possible outcome. When he was looking at the photo of my eye, I asked if he could explain what he was looking at. He gladly described to me everything that he was looking at, and what exactly that means for my vision. When it was time to pick out my frames, I was the most indecisive I have ever been in my life. The kind woman at the front desk came over to see if I needed any help, and I asked if he she would give her opinion on some of the frames I was thinking about. She gave some great advice and helped me narrow down my choices. I was still a bit unsure, so I asked Dr Joseph if he would share his opinions on the few that i had. He sat down with me and shared, in his opinion, the pro's and con's of each pair. He did not try to up-sale me on an expensive pair. He truly wanted me to choose the pair that I felt was best for me. If you are like me, and are looking at every optometrist within 50 miles for the perfect choice, stop now and go see Dr Joseph. You will not receive a better eye exam or customer service experience anywhere.

Found FTC lawsuit for the same issues I had. https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/1998/02/ftc-alleges-second-company-made-false-deceptive-claims-eye-care-treatment I changed doctors and they refused to share my file with my new doctor. My new doctor called them and they still refused. Priced $500 for consultation while others charge $120.

She helped me try hard contacts (something I'd never even been offered before) for the first time and now I can actually SEE in my contacts! Whenever she tells me about an eye product, I almost always receive a free sample, which is really helpful. The only minor complaints I have are that parking can be a little hard to find and it seems expensive. Maybe I just have really terrible eye insurance, but I feel like BFEC is more expensive than places I've been in the past. I once went in to ask why my eye kept watering (I was afraid it was scratched), they looked at it very briefly, and then charged me $120. I'm not saying it's their fault, I'm just saying I'm always surprised at how much money I spend there. But I keep going back because the service is good, I love Dr. Tucker, and the office is close to where I work.

We came back and were measured two more times, but the glasses still were not right. In the end, we had to return them. We only received a refund for the frames, which meant we lost about $300. We also spent almost a month going back and forth to the store, and ultimately ended up without glasses. I want to mention that the staff was always kind and treated us well, but unfortunately, the overall experience resulted in a significant loss of both time and money.
