Not going to lie, visiting one's Social Security office can be a bit of a hair raising experience…read more Lots of people, security at the door, tense, confusing, paperwork ridden, exhausting. It is what it is. Toshima at the front when I first walk in made my two visits to the SS here on Buffalo a 4-star experience. Having to go twice on behalf of a family member and sorting out their mountainous pile of medical paperwork to properly file SSDI for them, I am already overwhelmed before I even walk thru the door. But when I do, Toshima is at the first window kind of hollering at folks walking in and asking "do you have an appointment?" He is a super nice guy, you can just tell, despite him hollering at you thru the plastic partition from behind his desk. He is quick to help and offer advice without attitude or tone. Clearly there is a lot of reason for an employee at an SS office to be short tempered or at the end of their rope, but Toshima is real, measured, human. In the sea of confusion surrounding all that I was addressing, Toshima was clearly knowledgeable, experienced, trying to move my process along and doing what he can to make sure I have everything in order that they requested, thus why I was there to begin with. He interacted with me in a way that made the SS office seem "human" if that makes sense. He does not want you to waste your time or their time. He might be a unicorn in the whole experience, but again, he is worthy of making my experience a 4-star event. So yeah, my first Yelp review of a Social Security office and hopefully my last, but Toshima warrants a shout out in exceeding my expectations that were super low prior to walking in.

A third one-star rating with nothing good to say! The best I have to say is DEFUND THEM due to…read moregross incompetence, very poor customer service, in my experiences with them. The Bottom Line Upfront (BLUF) is that this office consistently demonstrates significant incompetence and urgently needs to overhaul its customer service, particularly in communications and process improvement. More specifically; 1. They don't answer the phone and it's a frustrating joke to try and call them. 2. They don't return phone calls either except once in my experience of calling them more times than I counted - on the order of 50 times. 3. They make demands while holding your money hostage in their letters of what you "Must Do" to get your own money! 4. There is zero-point zero customer service - just an attitude of what you "must do" to meet their process/requirements to get the money they have collected from you for 48 years. 5. Everything is your fault for not being an expert at their process. The latest insult is demanding what I must do by April 25th, 2026, in returning their forms SSA 827 and SSA 8240. See attached pictures of SSA instructions of what I "Must Do" dated March 25, 2026. These forms were completed on April 5th (see attached pictures with my SSN redacted (glad I kept copies-knowing this would happen with this office. These forms were mailed back on April 6th from the main post office off Sunset to expediate delivery. Then 8 days later I get a notice saying they did not receive my forms! Then they sent the same notice to lawyer's office. Then my lawyer's office sent me a notice that I need to submit the forms - LOL!!! So, I am submitting the forms here for the public to see I submitted on time. And of course, I submitted to my attorney's office before the deadline. Will the SSA step into their power and admit they did not check their mail or inboxes, or is it the post office's failure to deliver the mail or my fault for paying into a grossly incompetent system for 48 years? IMO, the SSA is just a government insurance fraud/ government jobs program cloaked as a human services support system. So, what now SSA? Who is at fault here and how does this get owned? Perhaps, I "Must do" something per all your letters. Sincerely, my hope, rather my great hope, is that your office greatly improve. For the future generations - I would recommend you never pay one penny into this SSA Government jobs program and their buildings. The SSA is a fine example of another Government program that tell the people funding them what the rules are and then dictate what you pay and how much you get, when you get it and what you "must do" to get it (that statement is in their every letter and sometimes multiple times), and what your bennies are! Let the people invest their own money, their way- let them own their money and invest same. DEFUND THE SSA. In a word, my experience with the SSA has been an "aweful".

They included: the Attorney General of Nevada; the Superintendent of Clark County School District; and the President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Last May, I also attended the annual Scholarship Dinner. The Chamber awarded scholarships to several high school seniors, who boasted extremely impressive resumes. The plan was to meet people and also be able to promote my business at the end of the event from their stage. There are 3 purposes to a luncheon. Food. Speaker. Networking. The speaker ran over so they cancelled the NWing. This is not acceptable. If they want to cancel NWing, they need to cancel in advance. Or the speaker needs to be limited in time. They promise NWing from stage. Not OK to let the speaker (who was good) run over and cancel NWing, It hurts my business.

Smells much like an abandoned library and is somehow amazingly the closest post office to the entire Summerlin area. Every employee is entirely over it. I was under the impression that postal employees got paid reasonably well but you'd get better attitudes from a teenager at dollar general than you do here. The lines are always, always long. As per usual with anything involving shipping there will be a dozen people before you that have apparently never shipped or received mail and require the unlucky employee to explain that no, transporters don't yet exist, yes, overnight mail is expensive, stamps do indeed cost "that much" and sure enough there is no federally mandated guarantee that their shipment of valuable and vintage long john's may not arrive in Switzerland by exactly 8:30am the following day. Still though. I mail a lot. It a a business thing. I'm one of those people who print their labels and tape their boxes and just usually need to drop it off. Of course their automated machine has been broken since Clinton was in office so... I wait in line. However. Lord forbid your local postal carrier just gets lazy and doesn't leave any info in your box or on your door, and doesn't drop it in your mailbox or by your door. No, more often than not he takes your package here. Awaiting your pickup. You won't know it, until it just fails to arrive. This happens with alarming frequency. Doesn't matter if your package is $10 or $1000. It sits here waiting for you to psychically divine that it's ready for you. Except it's not. See, at the counter you can see a bit of the back. Piles and piles of boxes and trash all kind of just mixed together. Somewhere in there is your package. Maybe. Not mine, not in two different cases. Two different packages over a 3 months span have just evaporated. Tracking stops here. Searches yield no result. Insurance claims auto denied. Your recourse? Hope the company that shipped the package is in a good mood and can reship. Nevada is great. Summerlin is great. This post office? It's a portal to hell. Ship any other method if you want any form of reliability.

Whenever I've had a question at the front desk or needed help checking something out, I've never had to wait long. One of the best things about this location is the self-checkout system. It's super easy to use ... you don't even have to scan each book, DVD, or video game individually. Just place everything on the scanner and it checks everything out at once. They also have a great selection of PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch games, which is something a lot of people probably don't realize libraries offer. The DVD selection is solid too. It gives me a little nostalgia of walking through Blockbuster back in the day. Instead of paying for streaming services all the time, I'd definitely recommend supporting your local library. I usually reserve my books, movies, or games online, and they notify me when they're ready. I just stop by, pick them up, and check out. The whole process is really smooth. One time they even called me quickly to let me know I accidentally returned my own video game with the library items, which I really appreciated. Renewing items online is also super easy. As long as nobody else has requested the item, they usually let you renew it without any issues. I personally don't stay long enough to study or hang around, so I can't really speak on the noise level like some reviews mention and rude employee interactions. For what I use it for ... quick pickups and returns, it has been perfect. The parking lot is spacious, and they even have 3D printers available for public use, which is pretty cool. You can also renew passports here, so the library really offers a lot more services than people realize. I've been to multiple libraries in the valley, including the Sahara location, and this library has consistently been one of the easiest and nicest ones I've been to.
