I rarely leave reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. I scheduled a windshield replacement and the first appointment was canceled due to staffing issues, which left me driving with a damaged windshield for an extra week. When the technician finally came, the service did not go smoothly. The install took longer than expected, and the post-install "test drive" lasted over 30 minutes, including time spent parked at an unrelated location without any communication. After the job, I was told the calibration failed, which meant all of my driver-assistance safety systems were disabled. Despite this, the job was marked as "completed" and I was charged in full. Since the replacement, my heads-up display is now blurry and misaligned, when it was crystal clear before. I also noticed what appears to be minor interior damage and questionable alignment around the windshield. The most frustrating part has been the lack of follow-up and communication. I was told I would receive a call, but days went by with no update. Multiple attempts by both myself and customer service to reach the local store went unanswered. The issue had to be escalated to higher levels before I even received a response. When I finally spoke with the store manager, the focus was on having their technicians redo the work rather than addressing the fact that the vehicle was returned in worse condition than before. I was also offered a refund or a discounted redo, neither of which actually resolves the problem. At this point, my main concern is simple: the vehicle needs to be restored to the condition it was in before the service, with fully functioning safety systems and a properly aligned HUD. I would strongly recommend being cautious and making sure you understand how calibration and follow-up will be handled before moving forward with this type of service. read more

I took our vehicle to Safelite in North Haven for a replacement windshield. The tech took the 3 plus hours needed to install the windshield and calibrate the Nissan Intelligent Dash Cam in the vehicle. The tech ignored that the windshield was damaged before they installed it (or that he had damaged it while installing it.) The tech was more worried about his rating before I had inspected the vehicle. They also cut into the A pillar trim inside the vehicle and damaged the headliner in the vehicle. The manager stated there is nothing wrong with the windshield (which he later admitted the windshield was damaged) but the headliner is supposed to look like that. There were fibers from the headliner, a shaving from the A pillar trim and pieces of rubber seal inside the vehicle, the seat and floor when inspected. The pics show the black painted edge on the windshield, and a clear area on the very edge. this was either damaged before it was installed or damaged during the installation. Either way this is not acceptable. read more

I went to Safelite in North Haven CT to replace my windshield, but they left me with more problems than I started with. The technician damaged my vehicle during the installation, chipping the paint around the windshield and since then, it's been impossible to get a response. They started off by sending a person to my house and they took pictures of the damage and said they would get back to me in a few days. I have made multiple calls their national office(local shop doesnt have a number) and was promised call-backs that never happened. This all started on 12/1/25. I spoke with their national customer service, and they had been trying to contact the shop where the work was done but no one ever reponds.It's incredibly unprofessional to cause damage to a customer's car and then completely ghost them. I would avoid this location of Safelite if you prefer things to be done correctly. Anyone in any kind of service industry knows that mistakes happen, but it's how you recover from them that really matters. This location made an error on a window replacement that resulted in the need for a full replacement as verified by our car dealership and safelites agreement. That would have been understandable if it didn't take over 20 calls, texts and emails to get it rectified. Since we live out of state and our car was already assessed at Mazda, Getting them to address the issue took many days of phone calls and follow up. Eventually, Safelite agreed to pay for the repairs which was a positive. However, once we paid for the repair upfront after they agreed, they stopped responding. Specifically Ricky, the shop manager stopped responding. Every time we reached out he was "on the phone with corporate" yet stopped responding to calls and texts. It took more phone calls to reach a district manager locally here in IL, Fernando, who also requested Ricky and his District manager reach out to facilitate payment to Mazda. Neither called back. After more days of waiting, Fernando, coordinated Safelite Corporate to send us a check directly. If it weren't for him, we would be out of a large sum of money. If everything goes well initially at Safelite north haven, maybe you'll be okay, but if a mistake is made, I'd be quite concerned with the "leadership" they clearly have. They fixed passenger side window, but did not put together the door well -- it wouldn't open from inside. I unfortunately only discovered this the next day when I was already in Connecticut. I took it to the North Haven Safelite and Ricky was super helpful. He fixed it for me literally in 5 minutes so I wouldn't have to drive back and forth. The four stars would have been a five if the original service tech that was scheduled showed up on the day he was suppose to arrive. I had to call to inform the company that the individual did not show an get another appointment. Someone was able to come out the next day and he did a great job explaining the process, what could happen while trying to repair the windshield, and what would happen if I wasn't satisfied with the outcome of the repair. Although they did the job right. They told me it would take 2 hours because I didn't have any heads up display, lane departure warning, or front end collision warning features on my car. They took the car into their shop in the back of the building when they said they were going to work on it. They took 2hr 45min. When my car was done the tech said the car was easy as can be, no problems at all. If that was the case how come it took them 45 minutes longer than they said it would, if there was no problems to speak of? Not managing my expectations when THEY TOLD ME 2 HOURS TO FIX THE WINDSHIELD AND WHY IT TOOK NEARLY AN ADDITIONAL HOUR IS BEYOND ME. THEY NEED TO MANAGE CUSTOMERS EXPECTATIONS BETTER. IF THEY TOLD ME 3 HOURS. I WOULD HAVE UNDERSTOOD. IF IT HONESTLY IS GOING TO TAKE 3 HOURS THAN SAY IT WILL TAKE THAT LONG. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A SEEMLESS INSTALLATION WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I didn't notice until I was through with their services (HOME) that they left greasy black finger prints on the interior of the A pillar on BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD ON EACH A PILLAR. You would hope they would be interested in NOT getting dark hand prints on the light grey headliner and on the A pillars of the car they had for a longer period of time than they told me they would have the car for. I am not using Safelite again. My first experience some 10 years ago atbthe New London location had me go 3 times. They called me and said come in at a specific day at a specific time and they will replace the windshield. I did. No one acknowledged that they called me when confronted to come in. 2nd time they said the windshield was in so they would replace it on attempt #2. The 3rd time it got done, finally. Some hoodrats in the Bronx decided to smash my driver's side front window and rummage through my center console to see what they could steal (I guess a couple of burned CD's weren't to their liking - they took nothing...Hilariously leaving a pair of prescription Coach sunglasses untouched. But who says criminals are smart, right?) I made my glass claim with Geico and scheduled repair through Safelite before the cops showed up to take a report. I would have probably opted for them anyway even if they weren't contracted with Geico because they come to you for repairs. Claim made Saturday night, they rolled up to my work Monday afternoon (within 25 minutes of the earliest time in my 5 hour window no less) - I came outside, gave the keys and went back to work. An hour and change later the guy called and said I was all set and to come out and retrieve the keys and my invoice. He even vaccuumed out the glass I missed UNDER my driver's seat when focusing on cleaning the actual seating surface when hurriedly vaccuming out my car at a car wash in the dark on Saturday. The only thing that would have been better is if the Yonkers shop could have done the work Saturday night or Sunday, ha - that would have saved me a cold ass windowless drive back to Connecticut on Sunday night... God forbid this nonsense happens again, I'd happily give them additional business. read more

Made an appointment have someone come repair the gasket around the windshield in an 03 Jeep Wrangler. Turns out, it's difficult to actually make an appointment. Thus, I had to go into the shop to get it fixed. (Bummer..) When I arrived, the folks at the front desk were have a conversation about shift scheduling. Instead of being acknowledged, I stood there awkwardly for at least 2 minutes until the woman turned around and asked how I could be helped. Ugh. The rest of the process to repair the gasket was straight forward. Luckily I didn't let that first interaction paint the rest of the process. I was walked out to the Jeep with the gentleman behind the counter (the manager?). He said they may be able to reuse the windshield if it doesn't get damaged (awesome) and it will take about 90 minutes. So, the waiting game began and soon enough I got a call that everything was ready. This was about the 80 minute mark. I waited about 8 more minutes until they pulled the Jeep out front. The repairs looked good and the associate said to leave the tape holding the gasket in for at least 24 hours. He was helpful and able to answer all my questions at that point. At just about the 90 minute mark (yea, I timed it) I was back on the road driving home. No surprises here, I'm just glad it worked out and didn't have to pay for a full new windshield. My new car had a ding in it from a truck throwing a stone out from under its wheel. I took my car to Safelite in North Haven where I was treated with utmost respect and all personnel had smiles and pleasant attitudes. They took my car in, filled the windshield crack, wiped down and vacuumed my carpet and I was gone. But, before I left I was instructed to come back if I was unhappy and they would replace the windshield and apply what I had paid towards the windshield replacement. Being a new vehicle, my insurance instructed me to have it replaced. I dropped the car off and was given a ride to work. Again I was treated very nicely. My car was ready on time and the car and new windshield cleaned. Very good service! Very respectful employees. Kudos to their HR department! read more

My only gripe is the 2 week time that took. Otherwise the repair was quick. The tech, Joe, was great. He called ahead, arrived on time, and replaced my windshield in about an hour. He even tried to save my recycling sticker as well as supplying me with new EZ Pass mounting. Very nice guy- working in the sun in 90 degree heat. Making the appointment was not as satisfying. I called on Friday am and ultimately got a Tues am appointment at my home. I was told not to drive the car since I had an 18" crack until the windshield was replaced. By the time Tues am came the crack was nearly 3 feet long. I haven't had a windshield replaced in years but they have provided same day service in the past. I had a nightmarish experience with this company. My insurance company recommended that I use them, but I did not realize that I had an option at the time to go elsewhere. They put a piece of glass in my front windshield. It was not put in properly so when I took it back and said that it leaked and ruined, a piece of electronics that was in the car, they were rude and mocked me until they took a hose and watched the waterfall inside the front area of the car. You would think that that would have been the end of it as they did in fact, acknowledge that that was a big mistake. However, after promising to make it right by replacing the window and the stereo they caused to short out, they became arrogant jerks again. By the time that they actually corrected their mistake by replacing the window, they refused to take responsibility for the property that was damaged. They also revoked the warranty on the glass and made it a condition for them to replace the one that they screwed up the first time. I have hated this place ever cents and I'm not afraid to tell people that I know about my experience. I have proudly turned numerous people away from using this company. read more

I had to wait 9 days for my windshield to be shipped from the south after it was hit my a tree limb in the Isaias storm. The last time it was in stock when a rock hit it on the highway . I am sorry to report a very disappointing experience with Safelite, North Haven, CT. I now have an incorrect windshield on my 3-month new 2021 vehicle, with electronics not working properly. I am going to do business with another company and strongly recommend that anyone in need of a windshield repair or replacement do the same. Not only is it exceedingly clear this dealer does not know their business, its employees have no regard for their patrons' time or trust, both of which were needlessly impacted during my dealing with them. THREE appointments, across MANY HOURS, and they couldn't get it right!!! In fact, they couldn't even get their stories straight at the end of each day as to why they were not able to replace and calibrate the windshield. Coincidentally, after delivering my car to Safelite 10:00 am this morning, thinking it would finally be fixed on the third try, and waiting for family to pick up my husband and I, I heard another upset patron at the front counter state it was the last time she would do business with this company. Apparently dissatisfied customers are not uncommon at Safelite, North Haven! From my perspective, I would say this is enough to negate any previous positive comments. read more

I develop some cracks on my windshield, called my insurance and they set it up for me via this company. They came out on time, did a good job, vacuumed the inside of the car, made it smell nice, everything looked great. The only problem was that the new windshield had about six distortions in the glass, right in the middle. This was completely unacceptable. I called them, they quickly came out and took a look at it, and admitted that this was: A bad window. I question how this could've even made it past any kind of quality check. So they came out the next week, replaced the defective window they installed previously, and all appeared fine. I didn't use my car for a day letting the glue dry. Monday morning comes around, torrential rains, I get in my car, turn on the windshield wiper, and the arms are not connected. So, I am now late to work, and miss the first few hours of my job because of this error. I wait for the rain to hold off, and drive over to my mechanic who quickly fixes the problem. He was astonished. Then while driving to work, I noticed that the rain sensor doesn't work anymore. So I called them yet again, and they came out today. So it's been about three weeks. The gentleman came out exactly when he should, took a look at it, and then told me that I need to talk to my insurance company, and go to a dealer to have the rain sensor recalibrated. He told me it would be covered by my insurance. I wish I didn't have to go through all this, and it's only three stars, but I do have to give them this: they did come out to fix their mistakes, and they seemed to own up to it. We will see if my insurance does cover the recalibration, I will update this review as needed. read more

My back windshield was shattered so I called Saturday to submit a claim with my insurance company. I was told the earliest it could be repaired was Monday. Safelite called me Monday to tell me the window was on back order and the manager was working on ordering one they would let me know later in the day the status. I never heard back from anyone so Wednesday I had to call a 1800safelite number (since the tech wouldn't give me the direct office or managers number to find out whether he was able to order it or not). I spoke with a female who said their was an issue with the way they submitted my claim and she had to contact the store. She assured me the manager would contact me that day to tell me a time they'd come on Thursday but it was ordered. Thursday a man came to my house to repair the window. After "repairing it" or attempting to he told me I needed to bring it to an auto shop which he quickly recommended one. It made me wonder if this was a setup.. He said I must have bent something because the window wouldn't close all the way. I took my car to my mechanic and had to submit an additional claim for collision. After my mechanic and the insurance assessor inspected the car they saw the window was actually installed incorrectly which is why it wouldn't close shut. There was still glass left in the frame leaving it unaligned. I had to file a third claim with my insurance company, another glass claim and satellite had to come out again to repair it. Meanwhile my car was dropped off at the mechanic Thursday and wasn't picked up until Tuesday after the inspection and another trip from satelite. The whole process took a good 10 days from the time it was shattered for what should have been something repaired in a few hours. Customer service sucks.. no accountability or apology for anything. I would never recommend Safelite to anyone. During the pandemic they will not answer the phone so you can't speak with a customer service rep. Our Vehicle was supposed to be repaired through the Travelers insurance. Safelite confirmed that they charged the Travelers 856.11 and NEVER REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD ON A 2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO.
