We left our keys in the inside of the house and sadly there was no way to gain access to the house, we had our dog I side, I called SafeKey First Locksmith and their tech who was very helpful and would also come same day, he came in under 2 hours. He tried the lock but sadly a new lock was needed but he was extremely helpful in getting us a better lock. All this was done in under 1 hour, he was friendly which was nice as alot of people don't talk, I would definitely recommend read more

I used this company to rekey the locks in my new home. After 3 days one of the deadbolts was not locking. I called Safekey and they stated the tech who completed the work was out due to a car accident and they did not know when he would return and if they sent someone else out I would be charged. 3 business days after calling to report my concern, the tech finally came out and wanted to charge me a service fee!! I refused to pay it. He called Safekey and stated everything was good, but do not contact them for future service There is no way in hell I would EVER use this company again and I would not refer nor recommend them to anyone. This review is for SafeKeyFirst Locksmiths. The number I called was +1 (734) 680-0913. The only key to my 2011 went out with the trash. Election Day I called this company to make me new keys. Justin who answered the phone told me it would be an hour or two. I was delighted. He said the cost would be about $300. That was fine by me. It would have been $312 at Lincoln but I would have needed to use my aaa and tow the car and waited all day. Having it handled at home made a lot of sense. When a locksmith, not Justin arrived he tried to tell me it was a difficult job and it would be $550. I told him he could leave and I'd just tow it to the dealership for free and wait. So then he went down to $420 and for the convenience of doing it in my driveway right then I agreed. A bit later he was done, two keys were working. The keys definitely look like cheap reproductions but they worked. There is sadly no traditional key to this car, just the push button start. When he was done he told me he wanted $495 because he had made me two keys (which is standard anyway ). Whatever guy just give me one for $420! He wasn't leaving my driveway.... I'm a Middle Aged lady. My male friend visiting from Florida heard the commotion and came out and actually gave that man $420 in cash not wanting him to have my debit card. He wasn't aware of all of the dickering and dealing. He just knew the guy suddenly wanted $495 instead of $420. As he handed the guy the cash he said I want a receipt and he just laughed at us and sped off. I did take a photo of his license plate. He was a heavily accented Arabic fella with a jersey phone number and newer work van with Texas plates. This is his number. If you hire this company and this number calls and says that he is coming do not let him !1 (201) 663-2301. Those $420 keys that he tried to get $550 for worked for 8 days. Now they don't work. They pop the trunk but otherwise say no key detected! I did report this mans behavior the day the job was done to Justin at the main phone number who claimed he was sorry, and claimed they would make sure this man wasn't hired out anymore. He also said he didn't think there should be any issues with the keys but if there was that he would fix it. That was a verbal on Election Day night. So 6pm yesterday when the keys didn't work I got in touch with Justin. I was told someone would be in touch shortly to handle it. I checked back in at 10pm, no response. I called back at 830am. Justin claimed I had gotten in touch too late last night***it was 6pm at that point*** and that someone should be calling soon. No one called so I got Jersey number/ Texas plate guys real bosses number from Justin, who never until that point even told me that the guy had a different boss. So I texted Agam the real boss and told him simply that my keys don't start the car. He messaged me back immediately that he was sending a tech. A few minutes later scammer Jersey number/ Texas plate guy wrote and said HE would be here between 11 and 1130. A, I thought this man would not be contracted out anymore per my phone call with Justin last week. B, I never ever wanted to see this scammer again who ran off with $420 cash and gave me no receipt after trying to bully me into giving him $550. I can't even imagine how many desperate people just succumb to his pressures to get on with their days! That must be why he was wearing $1000 worth of fancy sweatpants and kicks which I immediately noticed as he was trying to get $550 out of a desperate woman with no working vehicle. It is now 111pm, 2 hours after Jersey number/ Texas plates scammer guy said he would be here and now he's here. He made one key work and said I only paid for one so I don't get the other! I will be in touch with the BBB. I don't want other people wasting their precious time and money these days on these game players. I beg you to look elsewhere for your locksmith needs. BEG! Now I've wasted 2 days of my life and actually missed work because of it. I now have an appt at the Lincoln dealership to get a real key made, as I'm sure this one will also only last a few days like the first ones. read more

If I had $1 million, I would give it to this team. Getting locked out of your house,is a frustrating and desperate situation. One can easily exploit your situation, and leave you stranded for hours. I live in Pontiac and these guys came to help me out at 11 PM on a Saturday night. Not only did the Locksmith travel all the way from Dearborn. He kept us informed of his arrival time, throughout his journey. When he got here he was pleasant and apologized for the wait time. We were locked out for six hours and after several locksmiths had said that they were on their way but never showed up, One even took a credit card and drivers license information and out of desperation we gave it to him, for assurance that he would show up. And he never did. We had to lock your credit cards and report the drivers license to the authorities. Not what you're looking for when you're already stressed out about being locked outside your home. I recommend the service to anybody Who is in need of a reliable locksmith. Give them a call you wont be disappointed. Stay away from other locksmiths who exploit you and will tell you they are on their way and wont show up for hours. read more

this company is a sham.. i contacted this location on 08/15/2020 to extract a key out of the ignition of my vehicle based of the pricing that is listed on their site. which advises key extraction flat rate: $45.00 automotive ignition repair/replace flat rate: $65.00. the dispatcher advised me that the technician would contact me and provide me with a time frame of arrival. the technician contacted me roughly 20 minutes later and advised that he would be to my location in 45 minutes. welp 45 minutes came and went no tech. now we are waiting and just waiting. i called the tech back after about an hour 30 minutes to see what was the new arrival time no answer. should have walked away then and contacted a new company but i didn't because i needed the key out of the car. called again still no answer from the tech. called him back and finally he answered only to advise that he is roughly now 20 minutes out. after waiting another 45 minutes the tech finally showed up. he looked at the job and says it's stuck in great sherlock we all know this hence why i called the locksmith to extract it. at no time before performing any work/repairs did this tech provide me with pricing. he stopped several times going back to his van to take personal calls and laughing on his phone. fast forward to the completion of the job. the tech then states that this will be $400.00. i told him that the website had pricing listed and it was no where near $400.00 he proceeded to make a scene in front of my home while my neighbors are all outside. the embarrassment was written all of my face and my children were beginning to get afraid. i just handed the tech my credit card. his machine was not working and he demanded that i drive to a bank to get his money. again my children were getting scared and i didn't want another scene of him yelling in front of my home. i drove to the bank this man proceeded to follow me with my children in the car following very closely as if i'm trying to elude him. while i'm driving i'm using the proper turn signals so he can see what i'm doing. upon stopping at a red light he was following me so closely that he almost hit the back of my car at which point my son said ok mom i'm scared and started crying. i proceeded to the atm and obtained the money. the tech snatched the money from my hands proceeded to count it and threw my receipt in my car not a work order as advised by the website but a receipt. i also had to put my vehicle in the shop as a result of this technicians repair and the owner of this company is aware of that as well. now i contacted the owner of the company and provided justin gerity safekeyfirstlocksmith@gmail.com with all of this information as well as the receipt. i also pointed out what his website states.. new customers received a 10%percent discount which i didn't receive you would receive a work order which i didn't receive only a receipt prices states flate rates which i was not charged. it was only then that i found out that they contract other companies to perform services for their customers none of this information was provided at the initial call request. i've left messages for him to see how we can resolve this situation and no return call or nothing. i will receive emails from him late at night. the last email i informed him that i will be contacting the better business bureau and filing a complaint against this company. he emailed me back and told me to do what i gotta do because his company didn't perform the services. i was completely appalled as i called your company to have the services completed not another company. if you contracted someone else that's on you not me the customer. this business is a total joke. do not use this company at all you will pay for it in the long run they don't value their customers or your business... run and run fast from them. the only reason they that i'm giving them 1 star is because i had to rate them in order to submit this.. i will be posting this on every review site and also contacting the better business bureau. read more

Needed my community mailbox lock replaced. Quote over the phone was $30 service fee plus ~90 for labor and lock replacement. After locksmith replaced the lock, total price came to $250. Locksmith could not explain the discrepancy to me. Also did not honor the 10% off for new customers that is advertised on the website. Absolutely would not recommend, will not use again. read more

The owner of this company is not honest. I hired them to install deadbolt locks on three doors of my house. I had already purchased the locks to make sure they matched the hardware on the doors. The locksmith that showed up, who's name was Eli said that he could install the locks, and that the labor would be $200 for each door. He also had to get some additional hardware to complete the job. He returned and began work on the first door. He overcut the circle for the top lock and so there are gaps on the sides. He did not cut the mortice properly and so the deadbolt does not extend far enough into the lock socket to secure the door. We told him that we were not satisfied with the job and he said it was the best he could do. We said that we would pay for one door and find someone else to do the other two. He charged us $353 for one door, which included $63 for the additional hardware for three doors. He left the floor full of wood shavings, sharp metal, nails and trash even though I provided a trash bin, spoke condescendingly to me and was rude and argumentative with my father. I called the owner, who at first argued with me, then told me to send pictures of the work. I did, and included a detailed description of what had happened. The owner admitted that it wasn't done correctly. He offered to send out someone else to complete the job, but he couldn't guarantee that they would honor the the price quoted. This company contracts the work out and the people they hire set their own prices, despite the prices listed on the website. Needless to say, I didn't have them back to complete the job. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! read more

I called and made arrangements for somebody to come out. I explained My daughter had lost my last Key and I needed to have the Locks reset to with a new Key. they quoted $15 a lock to "rekey". Come to find out "Sorry you can't rekey without at least 1 Key" as they knew I did not have one they knew when they got there I would have to pay $50 per lock. I surprised them and canceled. I chose this company based on the wonderful reviews online. Sadly, my experience was quite different than that of most other customers. Perhaps they work well for quick jobs like "my car door is locked and I need it opened now". But for jobs that require follow-up communication or more than one interaction, my opinion is that you should look elsewhere. Perhaps they don't like people who live in old houses and require speciality locks. Perhaps they don't like women. Perhaps they don't like people who live in Detroit. Perhaps they don't like people with melanin. The reason why they told us they would do something then didn't, then gave me the run around by either not answering my call, saying they would call back and never did, and one time even hanging up on me is beyond me. I have waited almost 2 weeks to write this review because I wanted to give them a chance to right their wrong. Clearly not going to happen. Horrible customer service experience. Beware. read more

I lost my keys to my truck and called Justin from safe key first locksmiths hoping to get a new one made, he said he could have someone at my house that day and could do it for $180. when his locksmith named eli showed up he told me $250 after telling him what Justin told me he argued saying that's not right until I told him I dont want the work done till its the original 180 I was quoted. so after that he did agree to do the work for 180 and did get a key made thinking all was good however I soon realized my trucks dash lights popping up saying "could not program integrated key" and "starting system fault" . so I called Justin and he said "we program hundreds of ford keys it must be your vehicle not our key but hey pay another 150 and we will make you another one" like I want to spend even more money for a bad key and wd-40 left all over my door again. Justin the owner continues to ignore pictures of the lights that popped up that I sent him and declines my calls. Therefor I would not recommend calling Justin due to him not taking responsibility in bad work. I don't know if he took a short cut due to me not wanting to pay even more when he got there or they just really don't care about there customers .if there was a lower ranking I would give it to him read more

Call someone else! I called this company explaining my parents needed a push button lock on their door that could easily be accessible with a key or push button lock and asked if they accepted checks, yes was the answer to both. The guy I spoke with said it would have to be a lever door handle, which was great. He said it would be about $150. I repeated it back a few times because I was thrilled with the price. When the tech arrived, he said it would be about $450, but because my parents were seniors, he would do it for $250. He did a nice job, when he was done said it was $309, and they did not take checks, they would have to use a credit card. At this point we were pretty exasperated and I called the guy I originally spoke to. He said they "only take business checks" (which you'd think he'd understand a person's home is not a business), and that he didn't know what kind of lock my parents needed (I can't imagine how I could have been more clear). What a fiasco. Just go with someone else. My parents don't feel safe, they feel taken advantage of, and so do I. I feel compelled to warn everyone. No good feelings about this company. read more
