Better Locksmiths are fantastic! We bought our first home and had to have all the locks re-keyed for security purposes. They came out on the day we moved in, got everything re-keyed, and charged a very reasonable price.
When we bought the house and did a home inspection, we were informed by the previous owners that there was no key to the keypad entry system to the backyard and that the actual keypad/handle system was broken so the only way into the backyard was through the house. Once we moved in and did some research ourselves, we realized it was probably just a battery that had died and never been replaced so we tried to replace the battery ourselves. We found that the dead battery had corroded and looked pretty bad and beyond repair. We called Better Locksmiths to see if they could replace the handle and system. So they came to our house with the intention of replacing what was there which would be very expensive (it's a commercial grade fence and locking system). After looking at the system and damage, their employee said that he thought he could just clean it all up and fix the corroded battery pack. He was able to contact the manufacturer directly and re-order the special part, get it fixed and reinstalled for us and charged us a very reasonable rate.
The second thing they were able to help us with was our font door lock and handle mortise box system. The handle is a unique (and very expensive) antique style to match the antique-style door that would have cost us $1000 to replace with the same style handle. We were going to settle for something modern, and more affordable, to put on the antique style door but their rep, Todd, said before we settled for something that wouldn't look right and we probably wouldn't be happy with, that we might be able to hunt down the part. He told us specifically what we needed and where to go in town to get it and he was right. He came back and got it all working for us and we have the original door and handle! As usual, the costs to this were VERY reasonable.
